Im gonna be real, Des. This is kind of what an optimal scum game would look like for you. Because when you are scum you need to avoid doing scummy things. Sure, you need to do scummy things at times, that is part of the point. But its important to avoid doing scummy things for no reason. And that includes things which are not actually scummy, but which people incorrectly think are scummy. You need to avoid doing any number of gotchas and avoid triggering all the thread schizophrenics by posting something which is actually completely benign.

So I say you are actually playing right now like an optimal scumgame for you for a few reasons. By providing little content you are matching what people expect of your town meta. If you are scum and start posting walls for instance, surely multiple people in the thread would start scumreading you for it. I guess this sort of logic applies from a town POV too. But if you are town you gotta start giving honest reactions to people, even if some people find them suspicious or dont get it. If you are mafia here, then lurking is actually a transcendent strategy becaused it matches your town meta and doesnt draw any attention to you or give any associative tells.

If Im being honest about EGO mafia, I think the main error you made was not using your rolestop on Chemdah. But I don't blame you for it because Rolestopper is a very unusual role. When we rolecopped you on the last night, I actually misread what Hyhy said and thought you were a Roleblocker. I didnt realize until Realiti corrected me and then I reread it. So its not exactly easy to play an unusual role. You got voted by Chemdah (and if I were in his position I probably would voted you too tbh) because your action on him could have prevented the maf team from roleblocking him. Also I think a lot of the pressure on you came from me that game although I knew you were town of course.

I regret calling you likely town this game cause Ive given you an excuse to coast, regardless of your alignment. Im going to stop doing that though.

I would agree with this to an extent, each of my posts I've tried to voice my thoughts because I think that voicing them is helpful to the town/the game as a whole, rather than staying silent. I guess I haven't "scumhunted" too much, but if you want me to be more aggressive than I can be lol. So let me start by saying that a fairy would absolutely be my shot if I had the gun. I said it before but I really think she's playing the middle ground of just active enough to skate by without really adding anything of substance to the game. When I challenged her on it earlier I got a nothingburger of a response. I seem to be the only one super locked in on her though, but that's how I feel.

By the way, I know you said that you scumread Chemdah and thats partly (entirely?) why you didnt use your action on him. It IS important as town to trust your reads even if you dont think they will necessarily make sense to other people.

You should target Chemdah with your role anyways and here's why. Keep in mind even if you scumread someone, the chance of them being scum is still going to be like 60% or so unless you have REALLY strong reasons to see them as scum. Lets assume there is as 40% chance Chemdah is town. He is claiming a super OP role that nearly guarantees a guilty on someone. Since there is a 40% chance he's town, then there is a 40% chance you nearly secure a guilty result on scum by using your action on him. On the other hand, on the 60% chance hes scum, you still learn something by targeting him. If you target him, and he claims to be blocked (and/or receive no results) then you probably know hes lying. Sure there is a chance that you accidentally help him, but when you look at all the possible outcomes, its a net positive for town.

Im not trying to nitpick you. When you do post reads they are usually good. Even if you are ultimately wrong or change your mind, other people will help you get there by talking to you about your reads. Ive decided that Im going to engage with you until you start giving some opinions :mad:

I think he has a solid skipper case that I can get behind, one could argue that the clouds shade was an easy thing that anyone could do but he still shaded clouds so that's still a point in his favour.

I also think he's showing some townie ego so I'm not convinced by any scumreads on him. I think calling him scum off of him declaring himself as locktown is a level one read.


I've got two questions btw:

1. Do you think dbd is not the kind of guy to use buzzwords in general? What makes calling out Cel's behaviour as OMGUS, mafia aligned?

2.I don't remember the last game where I played with town cel but he's looking a little more friendly than average with people from what I can see. Is this a town tell or a scum tell?

3. I'm currently townreading both you and Texas so I'm confused as to why you're both sring each other. Isn't it reasonable to assume that texas is just busy with life and posts whatever he can when he's in the thread? Yeah back in the old days he'd be way more active but we're not back in 2018/19 to expect that. Whatever few posts he's had have been pretty aggressive too imo(not that that's an auto turn tell but its much likelier to from town)

I suppose I'd call him into question if skipper flipped town though.

4th paragraph is bad if you have a scumread own it but you’re good enough to know that shooting town is bad, we currently have a good player with the gun shooting Texas as mafia means we get a good player with the gun still only we have lost hydro, plus it would mean Texas doesn’t make it late who if town could be a great asset - if you think he’s mafia then yes sure fine but don’t try play it off as a win win you don’t get to pretend to fall for the newbie traps

NGL your posts feel like they're talking about objectively Good plays to make but they're all made with such an anti cel stance that it looks too agenda heavy for me to call town. Who are your other scum reads?

Dude DBD has to be town here right? This is like the first time I'm seeing him so confident in his reads, I don't think using "buzzwords" is AI for him. Also bro gets misvoted like every game for just existing and I'm having a hard time believing that this time is different.


I'm feeling very uncomfortable with miyami and cel sring each other and that's throwing me off; I think miyami looks worse off from the exchange but Cel's posts wrt texas look pretty scummy to me too so wtf? Miyami's posts feel like they're designed to make us feel stupid if we don't shoot cel and I don't really like that.

Oh and ap who are your scum reads? I really enjoy you engaging des from a circus community building perspective but you just wasted two posts on a whole lot of nothing.
 
^ this is a town to scum spectrum but equally I acc think it's fairly probable top is just town, and then there's 1 from other 4 groups (2 from one)

scum can quite freely spread their macro positioning out so something like joey, DBD, Pebble, AP, phoopes scumteam like sure this could be the world we're living in why not
