[SET]
Scizor @ Scizorite
Name: Mega Swords Dance (Bug)
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Close Combat
- Dual Wingbeat / Knock Off
[SET COMMENTS]
Thanks to its humongous power after a Swords Dance boost, powerful priority in Bullet Punch, amazing defensive typing, and a colorful array of coverage options, Mega Scizor is an incredibly versatile offensive threat. Close Combat smashes the Steel-types resistant to Bullet Punch, such as Ferrothorn and Archaludon, and is Mega Scizor's go-to way of chunking physically bulky Pokemon like Porygon2 and Celesteela. Dual Wingbeat ties up Mega Scizor's coverage beautifully by delivering a clean 2HKO on Toxapex at +2 and nailing threats such as Keldeo and Mega Venusaur, thus allowing it to excel in the Fighting, Dragon, and Poison matchups. Alternatively, Knock Off is a more useful move to click while unboosted and lets Mega Scizor pressure Steel and Psychic teams much better by hitting Gholdengo, Slowbro, and Jirachi the hardest. Sticky Web support from Araquanid or Galvantula is paramount for Mega Scizor to effectively perform in the matchups it's supposed to by letting it outspeed the likes of Kommo-o and Mega Gallade. In particular, Araquanid soaks the Fire-type moves aimed at Mega Scizor, and Galvantula forms a nice wallbreaking core with it courtesy of its ability to threaten Flying- and Water-types like Skarmory and Dondozo. Choice Scarf Kleavor revenge kills Fire-types and common Fire-type coverage users such as Mega Charizard Y and Zapdos, and is able to lay down Stealth Rock via Stone Axe for Mega Scizor to nab extra kills. Other setup sweepers like Volcarona, Buzzwole, and Lokix greatly appreciate Mega Scizor's ability to soften the opposing team and vice-versa, making them good offensive partners.
