[SET COMMENTS]
Tinkaton is differetiated from other offensive Pokemon such as Fezandipiti and Rotom-Wash by its ideal defensive typing and excellent combination of utility moves. Stealth Rock helps the team by punishing opponent switches, and the defensive presence helps it achieve multiple hazard-setting opportunities. In some cases, Thunder Wave is preferred over Stealth Rock, mainly in teams that have another Stealth Rock user, such as Sandy Shocks and Heatran. Knock Off provides the ability to remove items from opponents, crippling their staying power and making it riskier for the opponent to pivot or switch effectively with the item removal threat in mind. This is particularly useful against threats like Excadrill, Heatran, Rotom-W, and Tornadus-T, as it significantly reduces their longevity by depriving them of crucial items. Encore is another differentiating factor for Tinkaton from similar utility usages, as it can be used to lock slower Pokemon into moves they don't want to be locked into, such as Calm Mind Sinistcha or Roost Mandibuzz. Pickpocket, paired with Air Balloon, grants it the ability to steal items from contact-making opponents, most notably Lokix, as well as a way to win against Iron Jugulis, who cannot Earth Power with Air Balloon active, and common Closdire sets. Leftovers helps Tinkaton's lack of recovery, however, it is more used in Mold Breaker sets, that prefer ability to OHKO Ogerpon-C despite Sturdy with Gigaton Hammer. Tera Ghost can be used to Encore Excadrill into Rapid Spin, keeping Hazards on the field. This results in a potent weakness to dark types, most notably Lokix, whom it otherwise walls. Similarly, Tera Flying enables Tinkaton’s Encore to lock Excadrill’s Earthquake, preventing a potential sweep against Swords Dance + Sand Rush sets.
Tinkaton finds its place mainly in bulky offense and balance-oriented teams. Acting as a setter of Stealth Rock, complemented by teammates such as Lokix and Tyranitar that aim to remove items using Knock Off. Tinkaton can support its team with Thunder Wave and Encore, providing valuable speed control and insurance against set-up opponents, to benefit team-mates who appreciate the disruption to opponents’ momentum and speed. Tinkaton's lack of recovery requires teammates to act as catalysts for offensive advancement, such as Conkeldurr and Sinistcha.
