Metagame Tera Override [LCotM October]

It would be really funny if levitate gave you a ground immunity (due to ungrounding the user) AND a type immunity (on account of the type mention), both disabled by iron ball/gravity/etc.
Maybe it could be coded so that levitate makes the user immune to its Tera type (instead of ground type attacks) and other "ground" mechanics like entry hazards and terrain, and these immunities still get nullified by grounding.

The Ladder is Up!! Go wild!!

It would be amazing if you all could submit as many team & personal VR nominations as possible. Also, be sure to keep the discussions going & let us know about any prevalent bugs or overpowered elements in the tier.

In the meantime, here are some teams to try out on the ladder:

Really cool OM premise, giving this a shake and if I find anything insanely cool I’ll point it out. I’d like to request some kind of note on the -ates, though, since those changes aren’t very intuitive.

Have multiple type effects been situated at all?

yes, for example: dry skin with tera fire puts fire in both slots, so you're immune to fire and therefore have no added weakness (weather interactions work as normal)

council is aware of several bugs atm, but please report anything you find!! things we're already aware of include:
- Stone Axe takes into account opposing pokemon's tera type, not the user's.
- Sun and Rain x1.5 buff the types and give (x0.5) nerf to only Water
- Weather Ball and Terrain Pulse don't care who set the weather/terrain, as long as the field effects are there, they will be 100 BP with active pokemon's tera type.
- Wind Power is bugged, lets go of the Charge status immediately after acquiring it.
- Ground Rocks hitting Ground immune Pokemon, both naturally and through abilities
- Flower Veil isn't preventing status
- Snow defense boost seems to not be working consistently

Is this not intended behaviour? I would’ve expected exactly that given weather balls description, unless im missing something.

is wogerpon supposed to not be able to have a different tera type?

Yes, Wogerpon is hardcoded to have Tera Water.

For what I think this is true, based on what has been written in the description weather ball simply becomes a stronger tera blast in any Weather.

Another question: is there a Discord server for this format, akin to other OMs/UMs? I think it would be a solid route for funneling these kinds of mechanics questions while also encouraging more in depth discussion about more nuanced strategy ideas.

So currently the type change is locked to tera, and thats a bug? I’m still just a little confused, sorry.
Was watching this game, dondozo tera dark’s then clicks curse, but loses hp and applies the curse effect rather than boost up, is this a bug?

“Curses if (ghost) Type”
-> replace “ghost” with the tera type (dark)
-> “Curses if (dark) type”
-> terastalize into a (dark) type
-> dozo is now a dark type
-> curses
Fully intended :3

it's a bit more nuanced I suppose. The intended behavior is its type to be "in sync" with the tera type of whomever sets the weather / terrain.

Like whatever you put for Sun/Rain/Snow/Sand should also be carried out to Weather Ball's mechanics.

We do not have a separate Discord server atm (all the discussions go in the OM Server's Lobby/LCoTM section), but we'll definitely think about it.

(Dawn's Piplup gulch thoughts?)

I'm fine with this if we can get the activity! also going to be making a post on the meta soon, i have many thoughts

updates on some bugs:
- weather ball being "user's tera type in weather" and not "setter's tera type" is The Game Working As Intended, go ham with that
- stealth rock does not check for the user being grounded, so ground-type stealth rocks will hit flying types for neutral damage

weather ball is so broken :sob:
this om is really fun and more interesting then expected, been enjoying laddering with triple specs sun:
https://pokepast.es/9295e54533d6de9f I most definitely fucked up some mechanics so pls lmk if I did but this is fun and super unbalanced, ban weahter ball and/or heat rock.

Loved the team, definitely adding it to the team dump post above!

Also, what’s everyone’s take on Weather Ball now that we know it changing to the user's Tera type isn’t a bug? Personally, I think it’s kind of busted, but is it just Weather Ball that's broken, or is weather as a whole starting to feel unhealthy for the meta?

Would really love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this!

I think weahter is moreso the problem, I feel weather ballw ould be a lot more balanced without the rocks existing, and also chilly reception is prety centralizing and difficult to deal with. I'm open to action on both but would rather see the rocks go first.

WEATHER BALL IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS :flame-orb: :flame-orb:

Also *this is HUGE, heatran shall quiver to ground type rocks rocks and kyurem will reign (and then maybe get banned idk)

I think rocks are ignoring all type immunities, my ceruledge just got hit by fighting rocks.

Hello! New meta? Vann = Talentless Trick Room early meta team right here.

*vomits team I put five seconds of thought into*
:hatterene::Torkoal::mimikyu::primarina::Rhyperior::Armarouge:

This can serve as a basic template for TR teams in this meta, but it works well, as is. Hat + Specs Torkoal + Curse Red Card Mimikyu is really good base, as always. Besides breaking, Torkoal is nice for countering other weathers and souping up whatever offensive type you’d want to spam or Weather Balls. I kept Tork Stellar Tera to juice up Eruption and Armor Cannon, but you can change the type you want to enhance, it’s very maliable.

Stuff like Lightningrod Rhyperior (Water/Grass/Ground) and Flash Fire Armarouge or Chandelure (Dark/Ghost/Ground/Water) can let you take advantage of extra type immunities while being strong breakers/reserve TR setters.

Conceptually you could also try Indeedee but its speed and below average bulk aren’t great for TR as an archetype.

I think the real star of this archetype is this diva:

:sv/primarina:
Primarina @ Choice Specs
Ability: Liquid Voice
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Psychic Noise
- Surf
- Moonblast
- Flip Turn

STAB Specs Fairy type Psy Noise is super spammable move that hits through Subs and fat hates the heal blocking effect. Trick Room giving this set up a speed stat is downright silly.

Replay: Prima is silly
