Welcome everyone to the debut of a new project in this community: the Random Battles Ladder Achievements Project!
As we all know, grinding for hours and hours on ladders is one of the favorite activities of the people in this community and it's finally time to have a dedicated project that hopes to create something cool and fun for everyone involved.
Introduction to cycle 2
Last month saw the debut of the LAP and there were a lot of things to reflect on for the long term success of the project. For the upcoming cycle, there aren't going to be real changes in the structure but from now on, the goal is to create challenges that are more "tailor-made" for the current Spotlight format. Since this is the first ever Gen 5 Spotlight, you can expect that we'll find a way to involve something like gems, items, abilities, mechanics and pokemon first introduced in this gen for our challenges. Pokebilities is obviously the distinctive trait of this format, so you already know that abilities will play a big role in each of the three weeks of the LAP.
And now, without further ado, let's take a look at what week 1 has in store for the players!
Climber: Reach 1st place on the Gen 5 Pokebilities ladder

Master of Disguise: Win a match with Zoroark where you cause at least 1 ko before the pokemon's Illusion gets broken
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- For this challenge, Zoroark doesn't have to deal the final blow: indirect damage (hazards, status etc.) counts
- Illusion can be broken but only after you get the ko
- Illusion can be broken but only after you get the ko
Banded Breakthrough: Get at least 10 kills with any pokemon that is holding a Choice Band
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1200
- You don't have to win a match in order to claim this achievement
- Indirect kills (via hazards, status, life orb recoil etc.) DO NOT count
- If a pokemon gets a ko after its Choice Band gets removed, that doesn't count for the challenge
- If your pokemon acquires a Choice Band thanks to Trick/Switcheroo and then gets some kills, that counts for the challenge
- It's not mandatory but it's better to do !showteam at the end of the challenge to show that the pokemon is indeed banded

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- Crits coming from your opponent's pokemon do count for the challenge
- Crits coming from pokemon (e.g. Unfezant) and moves (e.g. Night Slash) with a high chance of critting do count as well

Boost Overflow: Win a match where you get one statistic of one of your pokemon over 1000
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1150
- The stat over 1000 can be anything: attack, special attack, defense, special defense or speed
- To get one stat over 1000, the pokemon needs to have its starting value at 250 minimum (because 250 x 4 = 1000)
- For the "starting value" of a stat, we consider only its raw number without modifiers like choiced items or abilities (e.g. Huge and Pure Power)
- The pokemon that can reach over 1000 in a stat should be:

Multifaceted: Win matches where you witness 5 instances where at least 2 abilities activate on the same pokemon
Minimum elo of your opponent: 1200
- Only your pokemon count for this challenge
- Every instance needs to be about a different pokemon
- The abilities can activate on different turns, not necessarily on the same turn
- Sometimes abilities don't have an immediately visible effect (e.g Pressure), so we kindly ask you to point them out. In any case, don't hesitate to contact me to understand if your replay is valid or not

Minimum elo of your opponent: 1200
- The damage taken in the same turn by the combination Rough Skin/Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet counts as getting damaged in ONE occasion
- It's the only opponent that needs to take damage, not you
- It's the only opponent that needs to take damage, not you
Legendary Chase: Get as many points as you can in this special competition!

Get a ko >>> As long as you win the match, you'll receive 1 bonus point for every kill scored with a legendary/mythical pokemon
Complete a group >>> If you manage to win one match with each pokemon of the same "group", you'll get bonus points. In detail:
- 3 points if you win with Thundurus, Tornadus, Landorus
- 3 points if you win with Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem
- 3 points if you win with Victini, Meloetta, Genesect
- 4 points if you win with Terrakion, Cobalion, Virizion, Keldeo

- The target pokemon need to touch the field, just doing !showteam doesn't count
- For "Win a match", "Complete a group" and "Bingo", the points can be stacked if you manage to win multiple matches with the same pokemon (e.g. you get 6 points if you win a match with Victini, Meloetta, Genesect twice)
- In order to simplify things, for "Complete a group" and "Bingo"we consider the "standard" and "alternative" formes of the same pokemon as one. For example, you would receive a bonus of 3 points if you win matches with Tornadus, Landorus Therian and Thundurus, or with Zekrom, Kyurem-White and Reshiram. Overall, the pokemon affected by this rule are:
- Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus and their Therian formes
- Meloetta and its Pirouette form
- Kyurem and its two fusions

Don't send the replays in this thread. Instead, send them to me in pms here on Smogon or on Discord (fran35q71n)
The deadline for the Side Quest is set on Sunday 12th at 11:59 pm GMT +1 (midnight UK time)
General Rules
Here are some general guidelines we have reprised from other LAPs and adapted to the current project:
- All battles must take place on the Spotlight Ladder on Pokemon Showdown.
- Please give proof that you completed the challenge to validate your achievement. Our preferred way to do so is by sending replays in the dedicated thread. This is particularly true for the Fun Challenges, while screenshots are normally better to show you have cleared the Standard Challenges. In any case, hosts will specify how to submit the results in case of very unique challenges.
- You can get several achievements from the same battle/account, unless explicitly stated otherwise. I'll like your post once I've taken it into account.
- Achievements can be submitted in PM to me if you want the account you used to remain inconspicuous; I will be posting them in the thread (giving your Smogon username) myself. Please only do it as little as possible though; it's less fun.
- Past performances will not be counted; any submission needs to be verifiable on the server (by checking at the rank, WL, and such) at the moment they are posted. I.e. if the LAP starts on October 6th, you can't send a screenshot of you topping the ladder on October 1st to claim one of the Standard Challenges.
- You are obviously allowed to update your posts to showcase you have improved your records on the ladder (this is especially important for the Standard Challenges but it could also involve other challenges) as long as you do so before the deadline.
- Naturally, don't try to cheat, for instance by submitting an achievement with an account that's not yours and yours alone. In addition to that, don't mass forfeit games on the ladder just to speed up the process of obtaining the achievements. If caught doing so, you might get exposed and made fun of (but also infracted of course).
- Achievement levels may be subject to change at host's discretion.
The Prizes

Deadlines
No deadline this week for the Standard Challenges, since it's just the first week of the LAP
The deadline Fun Challenges is set on the midnight of Sunday 12th, according to your timezone. If you get an achievement when it's still Sunday for you but Monday for the host, just send me a screenshot to prove the validity of the result
The Side Quest will officially close on Sunday 12th at 11:59 pm GMT +1 (midnight UK time)
