It does make me worry about poor Lida though (and Naveen?). Their progression through ZA Royale is noted to be well behind ours… a Water Stone is only 3000 poké which tbe player character could easily Smash going between rank Z and Y.

Obviously, there’s the chance she doesn’t know about the emporium, and iirc ingame she mentions not being sure if she wants to evolve it…

But my personal headcanon is that Lida and Naveen are actually that poor. Naveen’s clothing business really does need to take off!

I find the game kinda weird when it comes to that. You know the side missions with the movie director? He says he wants a Tyrantrum but the fossil is way too expensive to buy... But it's only 20000 pokedollars. Brother, isn't pokedollar just the same as yen in the Japanese version? Is your budget that stretched thin that you can't shell out *checks Google* 130.73 US dollars to buy a live animal for your movie? Actually wait, why is a store selling fossils for just 130.73 dollars lmao what's going on with the local economy?

Both these points pair really well with the sidequest about a couple of kids arguing about if they want to buy a jaw fossil or a sail fossil, and the brother already has a high leveled Tyrantrum

Feels like it would be so awkward not being a trainer or being a very poor adult trainer with so many talented kids running around.

Though it does have some analogues in real life (e.g the old technology stereotype) which makes it very plausible.

He's probably very stringy about budget. If you talk to one of the actors after the final quest he basically says he is only still doing this because he's being paid, but I'll be honest: probably not very much.
