It's that time of the year again! Welcome to Community Create a Pet Mod 2025 (CCAPM2025), where, as a community, we create a complete Pet Mod over a single weekend! First, everyone may submit their ideas for the Pet Mod's concept. Then, we vote for our favorite concept. Finally, we spend the rest of the weekend doing two submission rounds.

Community Create a Pet Mod 2025 will become playable on PS! (as a seasonal metagame) as soon as possible. Have you always wanted to play using a Pokémon you've created on PS, then make sure to join all three days!

When?
Friday November 14th, Saturday November 15th, Sunday November 16th
(Friday: decide concept, concept poll Friday 8PM server time / 3PM EST, Saturday: submissions, Sunday: submissions)

Where?
The Pokemon Showdown! Pet Mods room (public edition)

Previous Editions

Today we finalized the concept of CCAPM2025. If you'd like to view all concepts we voted on, you may visit this document. Our winning concept (after voting and optimizing post-votes) is:

Form Frenzy
Users submit a (modified) Pokemon with a form change mechanic, then a different user will make a completely new form for the Pokemon that is activated through the specified mechanic. The mechanic may include a custom ability, a custom move, a custom item, or other crazy mechanics that are required to activate it. Note that this may include 'blanks' for the second user to fill in, i.e. a form change gimmick that only activates once a Pokemon gets a kill with [move]. Here, the second user could fill in what the [move] will be.

Join the Pet Mods room on PS! this weekend to submit a form change gimmick and to create a form! We will do a round on both Saturday and Sunday. Note that if you submit in phase 1 (gimmick / base Pokemon), you are expected to submit in phase 2 (form creation) as well!

What time on Saturday will we start with submissions?
There's a form on PS! right now for form change gimmick submissions already! (So I guess that's midnight servertime Saturday). I will update the thread when I know when I will distribute Phase 2 for the day (creating the new forms).

Today at 20:30 server time, I will begin Phase 2 of Saturday's (today's) CCAPM creation process. If you would like to join, make sure to head into the room and check the announcement to submit a form change gimmick. I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of!

We just went through all submissions and tweaked some with community discussion (for example, if they misunderstood what was being asked, and did not provide a form change, or defined the entire form already). Additionally, everyone who took part in Phase 1 got assigned a form to create for Phase 2.

In Phase 2, everyone creates the new form that someone else suggested. For instance, anaconja will create a new form for Lilligant that is activated once Lilligant uses a dancing move.

You can check all of this out in this document. Please try to work on your form today, or if you can't, contact me so I know you still plan on working on it. Tomorrow I will reach out to people who have not submitted or contacted me. If need be, I will find substitutes for those who ghost us, as everyone's concept should make it in!

To submit your form, go to this form. Meanwhile, if you couldn't join today, but can tomorrow, then hop into the Pet Mods room tomorrow to join the next session! (Also, go to the Pet Mods room to discuss what you're planning for your submission and spread the joy!)

Some initial thoughts of mine regarding CCAPM 2025:
  • It's very difficult to figure out how a Pokemon changes forms. A lot of them aren't intuitive and require the spreadsheet to figure out how to change forms. Some recommendations of mine, if they are possible to implement, are:
    • Show both the base form and the alternative form(s) through data preview.
    • Show the transformation method upon sending out the Pokémon.
    • Attach the finalized documentation to this thread, as right now it can only be found when entering a CCAPM battle.
  • While I'm still learning how the meta functions, one Pokémon that immediately stands out as way too powerful is Mega Darmanitan. With an amazing offensive typing in fire and fighting, a whopping 170 base attack and 135 base speed, Moxie as an ability, and being level 96, this thing easily rips through teams. Something needs to be changed about them in order to make them more balanced, as right now getting Darmanitan on your team puts you at a massive advantage.

Hi, here is a list of a handful few issues in ccapm25

-Certain pokemon have the wrong items on the random battles sets (kecleon is supposed to get sash, instead it gets choice band, octillery is supposed to get leftovers/assault vest but it gets choice scarf, blaziken should get either salac berry or expert belt but it can get leftovers, there might be more).

-Stakataka's ability interdimensional missile doesn't work, it should grant stakataka the effects of levitate (although I feel like that's a good thing, giving it levitate might be a bit op, since it's already got very good offensive pressure).

-One of Beartic's sets uses a choice scarf, despite its signature move (melting maul) being a blood moon clone which only works every other turn. So that means if you want to use the only stab move on its set while it's in freshwater form, you're forced to struggle after each time you attack. It already has a seperate leftovers set, which in my opinion is just better anyways.

-In this battle (https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ccapm2025randombattle-2588123371-wdp8yihrp484uwv8bfq5hbpc8qmeoabpw) on turn 2 when kecleon uses drain punch on aurorus, aurorus is healed. Also, in the spreadsheet it says that when the restoring condition is removed in snow aurorus should heal 50% of its max hp, and yet that doesn't happen despite it being in snow when it loses the restoring condition.

Hi, thought I would recommend some RandBats changes for Blaziken. Right now on the spreadsheet it has the following sets:

Tough Claws (Expert Belt) - Detect, Knock Off, Brick Break, Fire Punch
Tough Claws (Salac Berry) - Bulk Up, Close Combat, Acrobatics, Blaze Kick

The first set entirely lacks a way of triggering its Wildfire form. I'd recommend giving this set a manual way of boosting speed, given the generally lower power-level of its moves (ie. Brick Break & Fire Punch's 75 bp compared the next set dealing with 120 & 85 BP stabs). I'd recommend either swapping out Detect for Flame Charge/Agility, or if you still wish to retain Detect, changing Fire Punch for Flame Charge.

Additionally, Burnout also provides the benefit of boosting both offensive stats, not just physical (not to mention in randbats, the difference in these stats would be fairly negligible). While less optimal in standard building, this could provide for a fun mix-up on Blaziken's mechanics as an additional set. I'd imagine it'd look something like this:

Tough Claws (Blunder Policy) - Focus Blast, Fire Blast, Scorching Sands, Vacuum Wave

Edit: fixed display of sets given copying from spreadsheet didn't quite present well in post

In addition to this, I'm fixing some bugs that have been plaguing the format (independently of the changes above.)

Bugs fixed include:
  • Zeraora's Ability correctly changes to Electric Surge on transformation.
  • Cofagrigus' Curse becomes Dragon's Curse on transformation.
  • Shedinja's HP is no longer capped at 1.
  • Backbeat works as intended, with a volatile visual.
  • Fearow's Abilities announce on forme change.
  • Torterra's Ability forced miss has a hint to avoid confusion.
  • Hold Hands has 1 PP to prevent multi-use.
  • Emolga-Mega's Aeolian Drift announces itself as it sets Tailwind.
In addition, I added / corrected missing element descriptions, and added some flavor text around.
