UM Leader
Hello NFE tournament players! It is time to discuss some topics for next year when it comes to our Circuit and team tournament(s). It is also fine to give any feedback for the ongoing 2025 Circuit.

As of now, the NFE Staff believes that we should keep a similar schedule to last years. Our Open and Seasonal will be set to align with UM Circuit.

Now onto specific matters:
Team Tournaments
  • We are going to try and push for NFE Olympiad to be a thing this year. The thought is to start Olympiad sometime in Jan-Feb. We would shoot for 6 teams, 8 slots with 2 SV, 1 SS, 1 SM, 1 ORAS, 1 BW, 1 DPP and 1 ADV. What are your thoughts on this? Should the format be different? We can always adjust teams/slots based on the number of signups we get.
  • Did people enjoy the format for NFEPL this past year? Were 5 SV slots too overwhelming? Please let us know what you would like to see in this next iteration.
Individual Tournaments
  • We thought NFE Swiss was poorly timed by us and moved to a No Johns LCQ on the fly. Did you like this change? Would you rather see Swiss next year or another type of tournament?
  • We mentioned possibly adding GSC and RBY to Classic next year. Would people want to see this? Would it be better to spend another year focusing on the other 4 old generations that we started back up instead of adding new ones?
You are free to discuss other topics as well, but the above questions should be the main focus of this discussion.

5SV slots was indeed a lot. I think that with the advent of a lot more oldgen activity NFEPL could stand to replace some of its SV slots with oldgens. While it created for an environment where many newer players had the chance to get involved, it was a bit of a strain on the building side of things, since we were quickly exhausting the amount of novel ideas that could come out of a singular format. In the event that Olympiad goes off without major hitches, I definitely think that NFEPL should include oldgens as it'd be already proven that oldgens can work in a TT environment.

I think the original plan for a swiss tour is better than the No Johns LCQ format, assuming it can scheduled earlier in the year to begin. If the tour has to start at the time LCQ started this year then No Johns > swiss, as a swiss tour starting so late as to overlap with the period when most metas have already started circuit finals isnt ideal.

Would prefer a swiss or even just a simple selim LCQ tour. Speaking for myself personally, I was interested in playing but couldn't because of timing.

We can always adjust teams/slots based on the number of signups we get.
I don't have a strong opinion but it seems best to reach a final decision now since it's representing 7 different metas and there won't an easy cut later (unless literally no one expresses interest in playing a gen).

If it was to be 6 slots, I think its preferable to keep 2 cg slots just to have a solid constant factor. From a distance, it seems like bw and adv have the least interest and resources. oras does lack samples/general activity but at least has a solid amount of nfepl replays to base meta knowledge on.
