Welcome to the ZeroUsed Rising Star Invitational! This carefully selected bunch of new players have shown promise in tournaments, on the forums, or on Discord, but have yet to prove themselves on the big stage. This is a chance for them all to show what they can do and prove who the best up and comer is.

Tournament Specific Rules
  • This is a standard SV ZU tournament.
  • The tournament will be single elimination.
  • Players will play a best of three series of games each round
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!. Smogtours server is the default option.

About Activity Decisions

Activity Decisions / Coin Flips: In the event that there is an uncompleted match at the deadline, it will be coin flipped unless one or both of the players involved in the match specifically request an activity win and explain sufficiently why they deserve to win over their opponent. Attempting to schedule a battle is required to receive the win-by activity.

For example, if you believe your opponent is making an unfair request and that they don't deserve the activity win over you, you can either make your own request or quote their post and explain why they don't deserve it. You should try to make your activity win request posts at least 24 hours before the deadline to give your opponent a reasonable opportunity to contest it with their own activity win request.

In case of disconnections, if you played in the SmogTours server, call a Tournament Director as soon as possible to see about the possibility of having a rematch.

risin vs smhorizon 60-40
Battle of crack builders. Horizon was on my umfl team and impressed me with his nfe stuff, however I havent seen much of his zu stuff. If his nfe is anything to go off it's guarenteed that he'll build smthing overcooked yet it will still somehow be effective and functioning. Risin on the other hand is at the heart of zu. Like Horizon he's def also prone to overcook, but with him I think he at least has the potential to load smthing sane. Should be a fun battle of crack loads where I give the edge to risin on tier experience.

Dwagon vs MethMaster 51-49
Idk why but Dwagon just always seem to win when I've seen them around the um scene, that however is pretty much the extent I know about them as idt I've seen them in a server. MethMaster I definitely know more about, but that knowlegde tells me he might load crack which prob ends badly. Not super sure cause of lacking knowledge around Drawgon and Meth's crack factor, could go either way. Slight edge to Dwagon cause they're always winning when I see them.

Lettuce vs TwentyTwan 65-35
From memory TwentyTwan had a deep run in ssnl, which prob means he'll hold his own, but I've just generally seen more of Lettuce around zu as a tier, and know that he builds his own 'solid' (could have an overcook) stuff, which makes me want to give him the edge in the mu.

Remedy vs DBD 70-30
DBD had this one linsanity run in nfepl earlier this year which I still use as my entire basis for his level. Does this potentially mean I place too much confidence in him at times, yes. But is that gonna stop today, no.

while my last set of preds proved to be terrible they were still fun to do, so here we are again for preds v2

TwentyTwan vs JohnBD 55-45
As the johner didn't play last week he hasn't been able to disprove by faith in him yet. That being said this very much could be the week my trust in DBD is proven wrong as TT looked pretty good in his set last week, and doesn't seem like he'll just roll over even if DBD shows up with good teams and good clicks. Slight favour to DBD but still haven't seen him play so its just hunch tbh.

Dwagon vs SMHorizon 55-45
Now having seen dwagon's games from last round I feel confident they can click well enough to win the tour as a hole, and that they won't load anything too janky to where they're shooting themselves in the foot while doing so. However SMH also impressed me so I don't expect dwagon to roll over him over by any means. Hustle is only 80% however and the squakabilly (or whatever new crack mon SMH decides he's gonna use next week) might go differently next time. Expecting a good game where dwagon had a slight edge in teams, am rooting for SMH to take it with something interesting tho.
