Project Unluckiest Player of the Week (Week 12, see Post #254)

Some of the most hilarious bad luck that I've ever experienced in a match. Best game of my nearly ~2000 broken cup matches. SOMEHOW ENDED UP WITH THE WIN. But turns 1-15 are insane. Missing back to back super effective Sparkly Swirls while I have two pokemon statused. But worth sticking around for the huge comeback in the end, too, after all the bad luck happens.

You linked the battle itself not the replay

Congratulations to arriB for winning cycle 10 of UPOW!

We've all thought it. "After all that, what are the odds I'd miss again?" Today's winner is a masterclass in the problem with that mindset, and a great showcase on why Blunder Policy doesn't always manage to make up for Blizzard's low accuracy.

That's not all though, as there are two other replays I have to share with you all today that we just had to include as well!

First is Oskulisko's very funny replay, featuring a dragon tail Giratina and a dunsparce that just wanted to join in on the fun...

And last but not least, we have UPOW regular zvbcv with the first double 1/256 miss we've seen done by a single pokemon here at UPOW!

After some deliberation we have decided to not include these last entries as official winners, as the bad luck showcased in these replays - while remarkable - did only contribute to worsening an already poor match up, rather than actually causing their respective losses. Besides that, we want winning UPOW to be a remarkable and relatively rare thing, so while there will always be close calls we are not going to make a habit out of allowing for multiple winners.

Cycle 11 will conclude February 1st.

Okay so its 2 hydro pumps into a hurricane which makes the opponent confused and then hit himself into another hurricane into me dodging a rock slide.

A 80% into a 80% into a 70% into a 30% into a 33% into a 10% or a 1/322.5 all in a row

My masquerein wouldve gotten ohkoed if any of my attacks missed or if i didnt get the confusion into a self hit or if the rock skide hit

I could submit 100 replays here just like this one but here is my first.

Turn 12 iron head flinches 3 times in a row only for my first breakthrough to miss my first 90% accurate move to only then get crit then flinched one more time in 6 turns. Turn 23 I then miss my second 90% accurate move as my opponent fearlessly sets up in front me knowing it would happen. I also only managed to win this game by the luck of my opponent not getting a first turn wake with their final mon as they get the rare scarf Palkia.

I put italics for things that were me just not getting lucky when it would have helped me out of the jam.

Turn 1: frozen by freeze dry
Turn 5: paralyzed, cannot move
Turn 6, paralyzed, cannot move
Turn 8: (a gamble, but still bad luck) rolled the die on opponent mesprit not genning with ice beam in its set; was wrong and toedscruel fainted
Turn 9: frozen by ice beam
Turn 10: frozen solid
Turn 11: frozen solid
Turn 12: frozen solid, then get crit to faint
Turn 16: para'd, can't move
Turn 17: my body slam doesn't para
Turn 18: paralyzed, cant move
Turn 19: get crit to faint
Turn 26: get crit to faint, sealing the deal

12 turns in, I had only had the ability to move 5 times.
