Total score: 2W / 2L / 1 Invalid ( Groudon < Sheik vs 199)
Void vs Gilbert arenas
Sheik : vs Lady Bug
Tizio Potente Ao vs 199
Skyrio vs Malekith
Pideous vs SFG
No explanation this week, been procrastinating a lot, and I'm not motivated to use my time for this week. Will say Void vs Gilbert arena is a highlight, while Tizio vs 199, and SFG vs Pideous are close in terms of matchups. Malekith should be in control, and Lady Bug should be prepared for Sheik's typical meta "trend" teams. Maybe I'll go take a short review/analysis of games in week 1 for fun.
Last week was a little silly on the RNG aspect, but without further do here's Week 4! Highlight matchup IMO is DPP revival finalist Gilbert vs Marshall.Law, but SFG and Sheik are both close for their recent performance.

No Real Bingo Update but the following players are still eligible for the X-1 Bingo Slot; DaBaby, SFG, Pideous, Sheik, Skyrio, Tenebricite*, Marshall Law*,
* = their teams must make playoffs to fulfill this requirement although both player's teams are in a good spot atm
Predicts: Skyrio vs Tenebricite Dababy2 vs Pideous
Sheik vs SFG
Void vs 199 Marcop vs Marshall Law
Skyrio should have this vs Tenebricite
Dagoat2. Going with Pideous tho
Sheik has outlamed everyone so far. SFG will make it stop
I'm a huge 199 supporter but I expect Void to stabilize this week
Picking Gilbert arenas over Marshall.Law because he is just better
- Sleep is now banned : no more Spore ( Breloom, Smeargle ), Sleep Powder ( Roserade, Venusaur, Venomoth ), Hypnosis ( Bronzong, Gengar, Crobat, Milotic ), Yawn ( Empoleon, Gastro, Uxie ), Sing ( Clefable ) and Grass Whistle ( Abomasnow ). This is a big big change, players are still adapting to this ban; the cards are reshuffled.
- Pursuit activation cannot be paralyze : pursuiting a withdrawning pokemon while being paralysed now results on the pursuit user never getting full paraed ( no more of this for ex : The opposing Blissey is being withdrawn... Tyranitar is paralyzed! It can't move! ). Starmie / Celebi / Latias nerf and Tar / Zor buff.
- Jirachi has only 7 uses, ranked 7th with a good winrate while Tar is 1st with 17 appearances in 28 games with an enormous winrate ( 70%+ ); Latias is still at the second place, nothing unsual here.
- Zapdos Starmie still have high uses despite Loom nerf ( = ZapMieTarLoom nerf ); good winrate too !
- Donphan as expected has been used a lot for now, esp with CB / Scarf Tar. Its bulk and utility ( Spin ), is very appreciated by the players.
- People tried to use Breloom ( esp SD / Leech sets ) but didn't go well with only 2 wins for 4 losses.
- Lucario has suprisingly 5 uses and a good winrate; keep it in mind ...
- With less Loom, Rotom fell in the usages and its winrate is low; less Loom means less Tar switch ins, so it becomes harder to punish a Tar coming in and WoW is a shit move ...
- We expected bulky Ground types to be everywhere ... uuuuuh ... if we add up the uses of Hippo, Swamp and Quag, it makes a total of 7 which is equivalent to the number of uses of Donphan; Flygon is still doing Flygon things so a bit irrelevant; where are Rhyp, Glisc, Nidoqueen and Gastro btw ?
- Less Breloom doesn't mean more TSpikes ... wtf is going on ?? Only 1 Nidoqueen ( Scarf XD ) and only 2 Rose for a total of 0% winrate ... bruh.
Analysing
- With Loom nerf, stall / fat is now dominant so you need breakers and CB Tar is one of them : less Loom, more stall ofc you go for CB Tar. Pairing it with a spinner ( Phan +++ ) makes it hazard proof ( Spikes +++ ) so you don't die after coming like 3 times on the field.
- We are seeing teams that extremely vunerable to old Loom ( Spore ) and this means we already have good adaptation from the players which is nice !
- This my personal POV but people are def sleeping on TSpikes ... Where is Nidoqueen ? It is supposed to way better now that Spore is banned and with all these Donphan around TSpikes are so free ...
- For now, FWG offense is dead as f but why ? These teams needed momentum and were getting it mostly thx to Spore, now that it is banned, you can't hard punish slow mons meaning that the pressure you're trying to put is less intense so it gives opp more time to slow the pace of the game. Offense needs time to adapt, don't sleep on it too much cause you will get cooked hard. Taunt Spam is prob a good way to fix this ( Gyara / Tran ).
- Bulky winconds are still in a good shape ! We saw some SD Zor, Curse Quag, SD Loom, SD Glisc and CM Clef too ! SD Zor and CM Clef seem to be the strongest winconds rn.
- Lucario resurgence is interesting : being a Fighting type ofc means that you are able to pressure Tar + Clef but with more bulky Grounds around it can be tricky; SD def help to fix this and IPunch seems to be the best option rn ( Grounds + Zap ). Iirc we also had a Special Lucario and I really like the idea cause you can bait Donphan while still pressuring Tar / Clef; Lucario has more SpA than Atk btw.
- Hyper offense is no where to be seen and Phan high uses ( Spin + DD Tar check ) doesn't help.
- Cool new sets / pocketpicks : Special Lucario, Sash Lucario, Scarf Nidoqueen, Lum Nape lead, Leftovers less Hippo lead ( DPP cord was thinking about either Mail either Chilan Berry for Explosion leads ), SR Toxic Thunder U-Turn Jirachi ( No IHead ), Custap Empoleon, CB Flygon, Roar Cune, Leftos less Celebi lead ( Scarf ? ) and Registeel doing Registeel things ( Rocks Twave SToss massive bulk notably SpD ).
Great post, but I have to disagree with the doomer posting around HO since the banning of spore. Here are the ones used so far:
(replays linked to the teams)
Gilbert arenas week 2:
Void week 2:
199 week 2:
SFG week 3:
Definitely less than there were last year by week four and in my opinion partially because of the difference in the player pools(no dridri or pkel). What has been missing is the typical suicide leads like aero and azelf with players instead opting for metagross as their rocker for its bulk and general progress button in explosion. The uptick in donphan usage does deter HO a bit it can also enable some HO structures that we saw during the last invitational.

The Sash Lucario set from Void was pretty baller, could use another fighter or maybe spikes? IDK, I've only tried Lucario on Double Fighter (So that Ape can run Mach Punch which frees up Luke from using Bullet Punch, Chople Tar can take care of Gengar.) or on Spike Stack.
Last week felt the most one-sided type of in-game matches for every slot, I'm not gonna lie. Without further ado, here's week 5, and a reminder to add your predictionsvotes.
