Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027!

2027 is wayyyy to far away. I am praying this releases around March of 2027 & not winter. This generation has already been one of the longest as is....

Part of me would like to think it'll be earlier in the year rather than later since this reveal trailer already had in-engine footage, starters, the player characters, and whatnot.

Z-A had no gameplay footage in its initial reveal and was just a conceptual blueprint, and they had nothing to say about it in its reveal two years ago other than that it exists and that it takes place entirely in Lumiose City. It took a year to see proper in-engine gameplay footage, starters, characters, and whatnot. So there's hope it won't be that wide of a gap.

that presents was bullshit. like actual shit out my ass bad. hooooly shit.

-NO b3w3

-TOO MUCH KANTO

-champions has a BATTLE PASS

-70 DOLLAR shitty speaker

-gen 10 is RIPOFF PALWORLD and takes place in 1 REGION instead of the ENTIRE POKEMON CANON

this is the biggest ip in the world btw. how can a company have this much money and still be so incompetent?? i made the critical mistake of getting my hopes up for this direct but they didn't have b3w3. disgusting. 30th anniversary btw. i hope tpci and game freak both learn that they need to cater themselves to my specific whims in the future because if they don't then they've lost themselves a valuable customer
I kinda have a similar feeling. I expected more from this direct? Something huge like announcing a US Pokémon center, an actual trailer and concept art for universal’s Pokémon land, showcasing old games and visions/artwork. Maybe thoughts from older and younger devs on the state of the franchise? Interviews from fans from across the globe, I know this is beating a dead horse but really just consume consume consume product? Really guys? This is the big 3-0, and it just feels like just another direct. You should really pay a new department that is dedicated to just directs because my god it’s awful.

Also greaaat lottery system on the XP and championship. Screw over people who care about the franchise because of the jobless losers who know Pokémon based on card value. Wonderful.

SV sure was a videogame, alright
You know? The best thing about WW having good graphics is now people will finally talk about the actual important aspects of any Pokémon game: the gameplay and the characters / story. IMO SV did both alright.

Even if we have seen too little, I'm feeling really good vibes about WW's gameplay, but we have yet to see if WW tops SV's story!

I think going forward it’s gonna be this mix of humans looking like anime characters, the environment getting better with amazing water and tree textures, but then the Pokémon models look…otherworldly, it’s not that they don’t look part of the world per say it’s just trying to blend the two art styles together, the Pokémon models and the crazy details around them.

there's so many indonesians and malaysians on twitter laughing about how much this looks like a cheap boarding house, lmao

I'm not someone who really cares all that much about which real-life countries get represented as Pokemon regions but for a region of the world that has been so disproportionately invisible in pop culture (4th highest population of any nation!!) Indonesia being adapted into this franchise for such a crucial game is kind of awesome and a big deal

I'm just hoping that – if we're sticking to open world with overworld encounters – that they fix wild battles so you don't get frame trapped by nearby mons after battle in cramped spaces.

SV somehow made way for a system that could be worse than random encounters, which is saying a lot. Especially crazy when Pokémon is like the only RPG I can think of that actually handled random encounters well in the first place.

As much as I want to agree that graphics aren't that important, graphics feel kind of important after seeing a Cetoddle I thought had a lighting glitch. It seemed like the game thought was in the shade even though it wasn't in a shadow, but it turns out it was just Shiny.

Now that we have an actually good-looking game it's time to finally admit all those sentiments were cope lol. I myself participated in them to some lukewarm extent but in the end I have to look at images like the one I just posted and think "How were we ever expected to get immersed in an open world game with textures and geometry in this state". I already abstained from buying SV largely b/c of this but now it's sinking in just how dire things really were

I mean you're comparing a temperate river between an open grassland and mesa to a jungle by a tropical ocean there.
This means Skitty and Delcatty are now the sole most forgotten Pokemon family. They are the only non-legendary non-mythical Pokemon not to be featured in any new regional dex since XY.
The Alolan Rattata line says hi.
Man, we going from PS2 to late PS3 now.
But seriously though, I’m glad to see a modern Pokemon title that genuinely does look good.
You say that like it's a joke but, for any franchise not going for photorealism or slathering everything in bloom and blur, graphics in general haven't actually improved in general since that era beyond maybe some better lighting.

every other joke on social media about the fire starter is it becoming fire/fighting...

it has been 5 generations since the last fire/fighting starter, nearly 16 years ago. I need people to get new jokes.

Incineroar and Cinderace each have Fighting undertones, but I agree, it is a played-out joke. I would like to see secondary starter types beyond the Fighting -> Dark -> Psychic/Ghost combination Game Freak seams infatuated with these last three generations.

Yeah I enjoyed SV because I think it had great Pokemon designs + a good story but the graphics were really awful. Like even beyond the bigger glitches (which I didn’t really experience) the textures and environments are just so bad. The frame rate for those windmills was embarrassing. I actually showed a bit of it to my boyfriend and he asked if it was some sort of demo lol

WW doesn’t look amazing or anything but it’s a huge step up. Even just the detail in the environments is so much better, and the water in particular looks great.

I still come down on the side of the world design being much more important than the graphics, and that's still pretty uncertain other than the real-world inspiration meaning it's no Xenoblade or Elden Ring. I do have to admit it's got more going on than non-Ultra Space Alola, and might have real potential if there's solid underwater segments and/or that surfboard has a lava mode.

I think water has that effect of making people think that “if the water looks good, then the game overall must be beautiful” my question is how the game’s fps will tank when you bring waves into it lol

Still holding out for a Shuckle Evo that turns Shuckle’s massive defenses into 150 Atk/SpA/Spe.
I know you’re joking (maybe?) but it’s too early to tell if we will get new cross-gen evolutions at all. Legends: Arceus and SV did introduced new evos back-to-back, but the focus on Megas in Z-A and no entirely new Pokémon in that game makes me doubt we might get traditional cross-gen evos this time around.

Here’s a dumb dare for me; if Ledian of all Pokémon gets a cross-gen evo, I’ll draw a free SFW sketch for the first one who got me noticed on this (if it happens of course). Colors included if that cross-gen evo is 600 BST like Archaludon.

Agreed but I also think base SV kind of sucked in this regard. So much of it is just fields and hills and there’s so few genuinely memorable locations outside of Area Zero.

I hope WW has some good dungeons, they had gotten better at those by the end of the SV DLC.
