Froslass (F) @ Froslassite
Ability: Cursed Body
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Aurora Veil

Beyond all the memes and the hype of getting to try out a fresh version of the meta, I've been enjoying using this mon a lot. It might not be on the level of absurdity of megamence, encore mega gengar, or even mega metagross/delphox, but it has a lot of traits to like still.

Above all else, being able to spam powerful and fast blizzards is JUST.SO.EXHILIRATING. The sheer dopamine of watching the wind blow and get an assured hit on the enemy, without needing chilly reception support...it's beautiful, and not something I get to witness daily. Even disregarding its broken freeze chance, the move has strong offensive coverage off an actual base spa stat.

But ofc, this mega is more than just a snow/blizzard spamming bot. Aurora veil is also a good support move not only for the mon itself, but also any other teammates and ensures the mon has something to do even against hard stops :blissey: :heatran: :kingambit: While its mega stone means neither its snow nor said aurora veil will enjoy an extended duration from their respective items, this is more than made up for by the fact that this aveil setter will kick the crap out of you the very next turn; :ninetales-alola: could never. The move also lets you slow down a rampaging :raging bolt: :kingambit: by ignoring their priority and setup an emergency defensive buffer.

It pairs exceptionally dastardly with its other strong utility option, wisp. This lets froslass chip stuff down over time while importantly powering up its own hex to a higher BP than even its blizzard. Most vitally though, the combination of the snow defense boost, aveil, and burns let froslass nigh completely neutralize most physical threats; even :kingambit: itself doesn't enjoy going up against this mon especially as it has several ways to waste sucker punch uses.

Mega froslass also enjoys the lack of pursuit in this meta; being able to safely switch out of :tyranitar: whose own mega :tyranitar-mega: could prove troublesome in the weather war department, is huge for being able to come back in; outside of sand, blizzard also 2hkos base ttar while being favored to 2hko its mega. Said weather war also has hilarious outcomes vs :charizard-mega-y: for if its stab of choice is weather ball, and both mons have mega'd while zard's currently on the field with sun up, froslass can hilariously check it by turning its weather ball into a resisted, non-stab ice type attack. Even better if you catch it on a solarbeam charge turn. Due to its typing, it can even escape from :gengar-mega: so that it doesn't get outsped and ohko'd by the latter's own shadow ball.

And its options aren't even limited to this set! While it doesn't have nasty plot like in lza, thunder wave is an alternative status option that lets you not only slow down opposing threats but also inflict an actual status vs :heatran: to try and take it on with boosted hexes (not recommended unless in a desperate situation). In terms of coverage -not that it needs much, when both of its stabs have such fantastic offensive coverage already- thunderbolt lets you hit :samurott-hisui: super effectively which otherwise resists both stabs and can prove troublesome even if fully neutralized damage output wise. It also learns psychic and draining kiss, but the former doesn't hit anything notable other than :iron moth: :glimmora: and while the latter may seem appealing due to healing with so many dmg reduction options, the lack of a spa boosting option, stab, and pathetic BP make the move not really worth the moveslot.

....I'm glad I got to play and experience all this, and am really hoping I can do so for at least the remainder of this week if nothing else. Thank you OU council, for actually shaking up this meta in a fun way for once. Until next time!

Having fun was the exact opposite intention of this ladder, and thus the suspect has failed. I mean, we even dropped Mega Gengar and Mega Salemence! How did you still find a way! Due to this, we'll be shutting down the ladder and this thread in the next few hours, so get your last games in while you can.

happy april fool's day, huge s/o dhelmise for setting the ladder up and TPP for the idea + work
P.S: Check the first letter of every sentence in the suspect reasoning :)

April 8th is quickly upon us, and with it, Pokemon Champions! Pokemon's newest release offers an entirely new world of Pokemon, with old fan favorite mechanics like Mega Evolution returning, alongside new faces and features! Realizing the need for change after decades of Scarlet and Violet Overused, the OU forum council has decided to gauge player interest in a potential new Champions OU mode, thus leading to this suspect test. In this suspect, we will be hosting our very first suspect ladder named Champoins OU, testing all the available content we know about Champions so far, mainly the new and old mega Pokemon. Only Pokemon whose base form can be found in Scarlet and Violet will have their mega stones available, and among the megas introduced in ZA, only those whose abilities have been revealed will be allowed. A full list can be found at the bottom.

For the period of this suspect, we will also not be implementing the new IV changes nor level 50 cap, due to technical limitations. Other information that may come out about Champions during the ladder's duration will not be implemented. On the topic of new information, any movepool changes will also not be implemented, nor will past movepool changes be reverted. Lastly, all new mega stats will be based off of the pre-existing stats already used in Legends:ZA OU. Should you be interested in the new Pokemon added, a full list will be available down below.

Some GP team user is probably uncomfortable now.

I don't know why but other then shadow tag Mega Gengar is quite easy like bulky Pokemon can take care of him and faster but slower and frail definetly suffer like Mega Froslass

It was premature but not humorous. In 6 more days we will hopefully be shaping a champions OU. Ill be sick if 6v6 isn't at all available.

An advice for everyone who wants to farm ELO in this meta: spam Mega-Salamence screens HO. That thing is completely cracked

salamence-mega.gif

Salamence-Mega @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 76 Spe
Adamant / Naughty Nature
- Double-Edge
- Dragon Dance
- Roost / Fire Blast / Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Unfortunately Refresh Is not in the game anymore so i can't use the funniest fucking set ever (DD Roost Refresh Return) I personally like this EV spread since it allows it to be faster than :Dragapult: and Scarf :Gholdengo: after a DD, which are probably the most important speed benchmarks in SVOU. You could also invest some more EVs to outpace Scarf :Landorus_therian: but i think this spread is fine. You can even beat non IronPress :Corviknight: in a 1v1 situation by simply boosting to the maximum. I like Roost because unfortunately Return isnt an option anymore and with the recoil of Double Edge you die in two seconds, but Fire Blast can be used to beat More consistently the Steel birds (:skarmory: :corviknight:), or Stone Edge can be used to beat :zapdos: which is probably the best check to this set
