Pokémon Champions - releasing April 8, 2026

Ok I see, I thought you'd need to buy VP. I still don't like that changing your mon around needs a limited ressource, but I guess the monetization is better than I thought

still not big on the lack many items though. How's the meta game rn with these lacking?
Matches not ending within 3 turns in VGC settings has been refreshing.

As bonus you can get to run 2-3 megas and dont feel that you're trolling.

you get vp for just playing, even after training like literally 15 Pokemon, spending 7K VP on vanity items, buying like 10 items, I still got over 20k in the bank

meta feels p solid, i actually like the item meta feels like a mass nerf and def allows multiple megas per team which i think is the point

They might be only a reward for singles, possibly, unless this was you playing singles. I hit Master Ball last night with the Mega Skarm team and have received zero extra box space. Could be meant to be a benefit of singles since its ladder doesn't really serve a real purpose for competitive, it's a reason for people to dabble in it.
we were talking about team slots, not box spaces

Ahh that makes more sense. I also didn't get team slots from the doubles ladder.

As an update on my comment about pricing, I did a quick region swap back to Chile and it seems, as usual, it's more expensive, at 5.990 (or about $7USD). Once again glad it uses the switch's region for pricing and not the location you give it for competing.

Bone Rush is 30BP now. You don't know how unprecedented the prospect of a multi-strike move with BP higher than 25 is.

Makes me wonder if that buff was really needed (makes less sense than First Impression becoming 100BP).
They actually started this trend in ZA with Comet Punch going to 30. Seems like they’re now more willing to vary the ranges for the ones that have fewer mons that can reasonably capitalize off the move.

Comet Punch better get an accuracy update as well because 30 bp with 85 accuracy is pretty rough

Bone Rush is 30 bp with 90 accuracy for comparison

clearly someone at game freak likes bug types

they better remove first impression from heatran's moveset tho, lol. It randomly got it in ZA.

EDIT: I didn't know that they also buffed Mountain Gale. That's cool. Now please give it to more pokemon lol.

Moonblast getting both the PP reduced (like most moves) and only having 10% to reduce Special Attack is certainly a nerf for Clefable and its friends. Meanwhile Toucannon now won,t only burn Contact Mons, but also deal decent damage with 120 power Beak Blast, which is cool.

Don,t like the general RNG reduction like Dire Claw's one, but I guess I am in the minority on this thing.

I'm curious, does Mega Sol also ignore opposing Weather boosts? Cause apparently you can OHKO M-Tar in Sand with Solar Beam. (Unless they forgot to implement Sand buffs lol.)

252+ SpA Meganium-Mega Petal Dance vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 162-192 (92.5 - 109.7%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Meganium-Mega Petal Dance vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 146-174 (83.4 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Meganium could OHKO Tyranitar if it were Modest, but not Timid.
Do you know if your Meganium is Modest or Timid?

Inner Focus is useful both in Doubles and in Singles. In Singles it's uses are:
-Blocks Intimidate from Lando (not present currently, but will be relevant in the future).
-Prevents Scarf Rachi's sweep (also might be relevant in the future).
-Forces both Mega Lopunny and Mega Kanga out. It's a shame Lopunny got U-Turn now though.
-Almost guarantees a 1vs1 win vs Mega Medicham.

I don't rate Mega Gallade highly, but the ability its not one of its problems.

Thinking on it, I wonder if it’s because so few Mons actually learn Bone Rush already. The Cubone line is forever stapled to the Thick Club, no way will they give that up for a Loaded dice, Mandibuzz is a wall with better special attack, and Lucario would definitely rather go Mega or a Choice Scarf instead

Bone Rush may now count as an alternative to Bonemerang for the Marowaks; now it is stronger than it 30% of the time, rather than being as strong as it 15% and stronger 15%; and the way it is stronger is more noticeable.

Still weaker than Bonemerang 70% of the time, but now it is only THROUGHLY weaker 35% of the time rather than whenever it is weaker.

Bonemerang remains better.

Mega Lopunny gets Quick Attack and is faster anyways.
Additionally Mega Gallade was a major threat in ZAOU thanks to Sharpness in that Petmod.

Also RIP Parting Shot Rigus twins. You’ll be missed.

Well, ZA OU was an irrelevant and fake Meta, so almost no conclusion should be drawn from there.

Quick Attack is also irrelevant from this discussion. Before, if Mega Gallade and Mega Lopunny encountered each other (turn 1 this can happen), Lopunny could use Fake Out and escape with U-Turn, now its just U-Turn, no more free chip.

As I already said, neither in Gen 6, nor in Gen 7 I considered Gallade a good Mega, Medicham was better 80% of the time. My point is that Inner Focus is not a bad ability, especially since Mega Kanga might be back in OU and Intimidate is ignored.

Also, sad to see the Rigus (and Sableye) losing Parting Shot. They are still goated though, since Mega Medicham (and Lopunny) is not an easy Mon to wall.

I will say the game feels good to play, the animations are quick but they feel natural, I also like how each Pokémon has a different hit animation. For example, a light hit animation vs a big hit where the Pokémon falls back further before moving back. Currently my only complaint is I wish we had more music available right out of the gate, and why are some ost worth 5k VP, but I guess after farming the items it’s something to dump any extras into.
