Tournament BLT XIII- Week 1

  • following rules are listed here
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to me or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
  • Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.
  • Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.
  • Managers: Please send me your lineups in the same format that I used to post pairings. It makes it much easier to post future rounds more quickly.

Late predicts since we still only have 2 games played. Power rankings may come at the end of the week if I have the stamina to finish them.

Scripted Slowbros (6) vs Malignant Chained (6)
Ubers: Ea-Nasir vs TGA - I see nasir around the site a lot but not actually playing games, I think this is kind of an odd placement for TGA I expected him in LC or just any other lower tier but still gotta bold based off familiarity
OU: TanDaMan vs PixelBob - rumble would have been an avenger's level threat for bob but I think tan in OU is more of a street level villain, should definitely favour our 19k superstar
OU: Leroipolux vs Sagazinha - leroi has done more impressive things over the past year in OU and just in general
OU: wssi vs ExguardiaN - not super familiar with either but frixel told me wssi was the goat at feeding teams during PTSL so I'll give him the leg up here
UU: TakingNotesKinda vs kimer - both decent mains with good tier experience, I think TNK is capable of getting big wins but has consistency issues while kimer is currently doing really hot in masters
RU: Sulfura28 vs LBN - already happened but woulda bolded LBN anyways, if you're a self-buy and lose w1 you gotta pack it up (this comment will come back later)
NU: rule vs Hacker - For the small mortgage that he cost hacker better be hitting the builder every day and night to put up prime lebron numbers
PU: SHONE vs Terracotta - weird placement for both I thought shone was more of a mono guy and terra ubers, could be wrong but idk how to rate either in PU tbh so bolding on familiarity again
LC: qtfox vs Agera - another self-buy so this is a mandatory win
Monotype: Cielau vs Tarre25 - somehow the best match of this series is the mono game, these guys are both prolly top 3 in the pool but I would rate cielau just a tad higher, very tough one to call tho
Doubles OU: MyPokemonRBad12 vs LugiaJP - I believe in this dude just based off his OSDT performance rn
National Dex: Tempo di anguria vs mrfraud - fitting match because if tempo drops w1 he is absolutely a fraud

Close series, if rumble were here I would have this as a win for slowbros but without him I think it'll be a bit more of a challenge. Funny because I have slowbros quite a bit higher in my prs rn, but I guess that shows all these teams are quite close to a level playing field.

Lavender Laprases (5) vs (7) Primal Power Pangoros
Ubers: RoFnA vs Jojen - rofna does have experience in this tier but jojen is the more dedicated mainer and usually puts up very solid records
OU: Silent Waltz vs Vioz - I do think vioz is a viable clicker but surely the OST finalist does not drop w1
OU: benadryl vs JspKiC - I'm not super familar with jsp but I had a friend recommend him to me before auction and he does look promising, but benadryl (I hate this name) has more tour experience currently which I think gives him the edge
OU: SEROO vs Bundy300 - I would have imagined seroo would play a lower tier, I haven't seen anything crazy from him in OU and I know bundy is very capable in his home tier
UU: Tbp24 vs Taka - great performance in masters vs great performance in UUPL this is a fire game, gotta favor my boy but he has his work cut out for him
RU: colorednaem vs hi.naming is hard - From what I recall naem actually has some very decent showings but it's hard to bet against the pool topper from last year
NU: Xiri vs Ampha - another hype match, I slightly favor xiri here and will recycle my line about self-buys, but ampha could certainly take it if he shows up in top form
PU: PrinceOfAllTacos vs asa - please take no offense poat but this as lopsided as they come, the benefit to that is you're playing with house money while the other side has all the pressure so maybe we see the upset of the tour in w1
LC: giove97 vs Arcanine1929 - arcanine is the more solid player imo he just needs to not tilt himself into oblivion as he has been prone to do in the past
Monotype: hammy3581 vs adjustments - hammy is very decent at mono but adjustments has been playing longer to my knowledge and thus has the better wins under his belt
Doubles OU: Tenebricite vs Calmmind75 - tene in DOU is most definitely polar bear in arlington texas vibes, but I'm not familiar enough with his opp so he still gets the bold
National Dex: sealoo vs 3cho - ok this one may also be lopsided, from what I remember seeing of echo he's not bad but he drew natdex jesus w1

A couple of these games are definitely very skewed toward one side while others are insanely close, should make for a super interesting series that will come down to the wire. Just like the above series I don't have these two very close in my prs but I do have my higher ranked team winning.

Sand Castlevania (9) vs (3) Jubilife Jirachis
Ubers: Vitiate vs jb291 - both are strong players but specifically in ubers I have to favor viti here, more experience and has done well in this tour the past 2 years
OU: clean vs Chicos - they really did chicos like this w1, baddy is actually the worst
OU: yerdunc vs NoName6293 - idk if noname also ran from clean or if these were more baddy antics, I would assume the latter as he is very evil
OU: Groza vs Baddy - I hate this guy
UU: blittius vs Itoshiflwr - I played itoshi a couple times during quals and that's really my only impression of him, I wasn't blown away so I guess I am bolding blittius
RU: Lostmemories vs Maxisc23 - 16k lostmemories better channel the spirit of santu and put up the best performance of his life
NU: Axrtix vs Regiboob - if prime axrtix still exists this should be a shutout for him but when someone hasn't played for this long it's tough to say what kinda form they're in, will still give him my confidence for now
PU: MemphisDepay vs Me Empty - already happened but woulda bolded memphis cause I think he's the stronger clicker, kind of a weird placement for both guys tho
LC: rahul_3301 vs DeMarvelous - I am a big believer in demarv having almost drafted him myself, I think he can do really well in this pool if he locks in
Monotype: Thanos vs Ringmaster Uta - I went undefeated vs this dude in blt commencement thread last year but he's still a good mono player at least
Doubles OU: Akaru Kokuyo vs IcyPenguin2 - holy fuckin highlight match, I don't even know how to call this one I think I'll slightly favor akaru since he's played on bigger stages but I wouldn't be surprised by any result including both guys somehow winning
National Dex: SpyOP vs omar - might be a hot take bolding against the TL but omar didn't have a great season last year and I think spy could be a real dark horse in this pool

I don't actually think the score will be this lopsided but I hate baddygames so I'm not changing it, I don't think this is a case of jirachis being bad as much as it is sand castles just looking really good. Interested to see how jirachis do in lower tiers specifically since they have more under the radar names.

qtfox vs agera: I haven't seen qtfox play much sv lc recently so I am not sure what form she is in. From a "I know them perspective" I want qtfox to win but my mind says agera has a slight edge. (45-55)
