RMT - Team Forrey

I'm open to any and all critiques - I'm wondering about Gengar's item, considering he won't be surviving more than two hits anyway, I think Leftovers should be dropped for Focus Sash, it's just, due to Hail/Sandstorm and the like, Sash isn't as good anymore. I was thinking, maybe Expert Belt or something.

Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/96 Def/158 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Light Screen
- Explosion
This team is built to utilize Forretress' excellent lead off abilities. I have him coming in multiple times during the match to block offensive shots to pokemon that couldn't take them. Because most leads these days are offensively based, with the exception of Azelf and Gengar among others, this guy can get Spikes to at least level 1. With him coming in several times during the span of the match to abuse his high defense and several resistances, Spikes can achieve level 3 status, and he can also set up a Light Screen for Pokemon that fear special attacks (Salamence, Gengar). Because of his defenses he's an excellent rapid spinner as well. Finally, when he's low on health, Forretress has a great Explosion.

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/110 SAtk/148 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Moonlight
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam
Cresselia is meant to counter speedy special attackers, such as SpecsMence and Azelf. He switches in on a Nasty Plot, pulls a Thunder Wave, then switches between Calm Mind and Moonlight until strong enough to take it out with Ice Beam. Also a good switch into SpecsMence.

Electivire (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
He's the only lightning resist on the team, so if a pokemon with a lightning type move tries to come in, he switches in, and sweeps. He's running Life Orb to make up for lack of Adamant nature; he's using Jolly to outspeed other Electivires.

I'm considering dropping this for a better physical sweeper, but I'm unsure as to whom I should use. I'm seriously considering Slaking, because he can switch in and OHKO a lot of things with one attack, then switch out. But I'm unsure right now - it would give my team a double fighting weak, though Cresselia/Gengar/Salamence can switch into it.

Gengar (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hypnosis
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderpunch
- Focus Blast
Gengar is my answer to Rapid Spin and to Gyarados. He out speeds after one Dragon Dance, and can switch in on an Earthquake due to Levitate, then Thunderpunches. He's also my special sweeper - switches into what he's immune to (Spikes, normal-types, fighting types) and sets up with Hypnosis for the switch. Those three attacks hit a lot for super effective damage.

Salamence (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Hydro Pump
- Dragon Pulse
Salamence's role is simple - switch into something he's resistant to, and kill whatever switches into him with Draco Meteor. Flamethrower hits steel switches, and Hydro Pump for things it doesn't hit as strongly (Heatran, for example). Pulse is for late game sweeping.

Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 168 HP/110 Def/230 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Return
- Rest
- Crunch
Snorlax is my answer to Gengar - switch in on Shadow Ball, then Crunch. He's a good special wall and can Curse up against special attackers not doing much to him. Rest is for more survivability.

i would lead with mence since all the common leads today kind of pee on forry (gengar, gyarados, tar, bronzong can sleep him etc)

I'd also make electivire mix with cross chop, thunderbolt, flamethrower and ice punch. outspeeding other electivires is less of a problem then youd think.

most dragondancing gyaras these days are omre offensive than the analysis, and will have speed evs to beat your gengar. Those will actually proceed to completely rape your team once they figure out he's not scarf, so try scarf on him, or try generic resttalk cress (ice beam charge beam) as it sucks to get your ass walled by any steel/dark. you dont even need twave on this team since it's reasonably speedy besides lax.

And you'll find that eventually your Gengar will get hit by Waterfall by an opponent who doesn't take any risks to sweep early with Gyarados. That's why Gengar with Chocie Scarf won't answer your Gyarados weakness. Cressilia would do as a Rest, Sleep Talker with Charge Beam.

Forretress with Toxic Spikes will also help your Cressilia get rid of Garchomp, Infernape and the like faster.

exactly right, id even go the extra step and saying that you should just replace Elect. with dugtrio as he still is a lightning resists and traps and kills things quiet well; I just find that Electrive, unless he has a boost, isn't that great of a sweeper

I was thinking about a Dugtrio revenge killer in Electivire's place, but then I'd lack a real physical sweeper.

True, but that would also make my team vulnerable to Heracross, which would piss on Cresselia, Snorlax, Salamence (Stone Edge), Gengar (Pursuit).

Heracross will still pose a threat anyway, with or without Guts activated. That's if Stone-Edge hits your Salamence, or if they predict your Gengar. You're still going to be forced into a corner by Heracross. Toxic Spikes rewards more than the set-backs would effect you, and Heracross will still lose 12% or multiples of damage if it's under poison. Plus, Infernape and Garchomp will fall, and Cressilia will cover the Gyarados.
