Mario Kart Wii

I have a question about this game: Are light racers still the most dominate, or have heavy races finally out-done then? On a bunch of videos I've seen, people have been using heavy weights more. So, are they better this time? And, how are motorcycles? What are their pro's over Karts? Con's? Are they better?

Thanks. :3

In my opinion light/medium racers are better for actual races because you need the higher acceleration stat considering how often items hit you. I don't know about anyone else but it just seems like you get hit so much more often that in other Mario Kart games.

Heavyweights are easily better for time trials, especially Funky Kong. Higher speed stat matters a lot and the lower accelration means nothing when you get a boost start and also shouldn't be getting hit by anything.

Bikes are better than Karts imo. Wheelies are probably the main reason. They just give you a speed boost, at the cost of only being able to get blue flames on a drift boost instead of the karts blue or red flames. Bikes I think are more vulerable to collisions than karts though, like if you're using a bike and a kart rams into you, you will take a bigger hit than if you were in a kart too. Wheelies also make you really vulnerable to being rammed.

I also prefer the drift of bikes. I now can't stand how any of the karts drift.

Also has anyone else noticed that it is harder to triple star rank 100cc than to triple star 150cc. Or is that just me?

Meh, they're both really easy, except 150CC special cup.

Heavyweights take it I think. They have a great choice of bikes and karts, the best being IMO the torpedo (highest speed in the game, top time trial choice though I hate it's drift), wario bike, and twinkle star.
Wario bike is brilliant, it has excellent handling, good enough off-road and probablt the best acceleration in the HW class while losing a bit of speed (keeping all the weight though)

edit: Also Im close to 7000 online points now but recently got MP3:C so won't be going back for a while, when I do I'm sure it will be for online, the grand prixs are time-consuming and not that great
Though I still have no 3 star rankings

I personally enjoy Bowser Bike. Really handling dosent matter in this game if you can drift. Do you have any picture of the Torpedo Stoo99(Or at least collection of its stats meh)? Haven't bothered to unlock it yet;/

I cant really be bothered to find any just google it or something but basically it has high speed, bad accelleration, a sharp drift and reasonably low everything else

Also handling can give you a huge lead in places such as the big curve at the end of daisy circuit and the sandy halfpipe bit in dry dry ruins (where you can just go up one and use one boost and awesome turning to go straight across the sand on the side where it is less than in the middle, I can't really describe it that well but its awesome. If you still think handling isnt too important then use the blue falcon on bendy tracks e_e

Ah i found a IGN guide on my first fucking google search duh;( And yeah i guess that i formulated it all wrong. Handling is important and everything. I just think that a bike like Bowser Bike really could live with worse handling thanks to awesome drifting. Therefore i aim for high drifting>High handling any day

I'm planning to pick this up tomorrow when its finally released in the US. The inclusion of Funky Kong got me pumped for the game, although I would have rather had Lanky Kong.

Dude it's released on the 27th. Well the Game Crazy I pre-ordered it at is having a midnight release and a Tourny just like they did with Brawl, just thought I'd share that.

Well, I just got this, on the first day out (aus). It's pretty good, although I don't have enough karts unlocked on WiFi yet lol so I'm just sticking to Baby Mario and his standard bike for now. It's decent enough until someone bumps into you lol XD I seem to be getting quite a lot of come-from-behind victories... I also like how with a starting boost+wheelie you can be almost garunteed first off the line (even though the OP sugests against it I still can't resist :P ).

Just got it, and I must say it's terrific. My only complaint is the new 12-player system sometimes gets too hectic, especially on battle mode.

Well Sunday if you're 1st at the start and you do it then yeah it can be fine but if you're 12th or something you're gonna need to hop out of it really quickly

Also my online ranking is 6999, lol.

The only purpose of a mk wii commercial is telling people the game exists. They don't really need to do a good job on the commercial, and sadly, they realized that.

I kind of wish it just took a few less seconds to go from blue flames to red flames on Karts. If that was the case they could easily be just about even... :(

I definitly lean towards the lighter racers personally, although that being said I don't do time trials all that much except the eight you need to unlock one of the small bikes (which sucked shit lol >.>). Can anyone link me to the stats of all the bikes/karts please? I figure I'd better work out which one to aim for before wasting any time.

Also I'll have my FC up here shortly if anyone wants to race!
EDIT: Ok my FC's now in my sig, feel free to PM me any time I'm on for a race!

I was reading an article on Mario Kart Wii in the morning News and Observer, when I noticed this picture taking up a fourth of the page:
