Clamperl. The forgotten bivalve from hell.

Read: Dugtrio

That completely proves my point, this thing cannot take hits worh crap.

Isn't that from the physical side? Isn't Blissey something like that herself (actually, probably not with that over 9k hp)?

But the real problem with 'Perl is the lack of recovery and actual doing-anything ability. Not the inability to take physical hits - although that is also important.

Umm... no.

Clamperl has 252 HP EVs regardless of the set. Dugtrio has base 50 defense, and the only thing going for it is electric immunity.

Stats = HP Defense SD
Dugtrio 211 136 176
Clamperl 274 206 146

Dugtrio has slightly higher Special Defense, but this is balanced out by Clamperl's far greater HP.

Unless you're using Scarf Dugtrio, then you can put some EVs in HP...

Chris if you read the first post then you would have seen that Snorlax Body Slam is a 3HKO. Choice Band Metagross Meteor Mash is not a OHKO, Swords Danced Adamant Life Orb Lucario Extremespeed might not OHKO, and Cresselia Charge Beam does not OHKO. Durable is not a good word for Clamperl, but its a lot tougher then Dugtrio. Not that durability matters in Trick Room.

Alright, Clamperl is now officially UU. It being NFE was just a typo, but it's fixed. This should lead to many more uses since people can actually see its analysis without having to manually type its name into the URL.

Its uses actually octupled (8x) in one week, following this thread.

That makes me happy.

Gimmicky, but it works. It's pretty nasty late game, especially when your opponent can snipe your Pokemon that may be able to counter it. I've almost been swept by this clam, and it was oh-so-humbling.

To increase Clamperl's survivability and killing power, how about giving Bronzong Stealth rock > explosion, that way you can set up rain dance and trick room multiple times, although, this allows a much harder time for clamperl to switch in. Switch into a set up, then sweep clamperl. Though, your set does seem a little more practical, as it would be alot harder to get Clamperl in without an explosion. But stealth rock just for the pokemon you can just barely not OHKO.

EDIT: Another pokemon like Clamperl, as in its NFE and needs trick room to survive is Trapinch. The only thing that makes it desirable over Flygon is Arena trap though. Kinda like Duggy.

I have Stealth Rocks on another pokemon, Uxie.

Getting Clamperl in without Explosion, U-Turn, or a revenge kill is nearly impossible.

It is alot more practical to have SR on another pokemon, after all, Clamperl is frail, though, how cool would it be to pass it a nasty plot boost?

Before this thread dies, I want to bring up one last point.

Clamperl is horrifically broken in UU. Its only counter is Quagsire, and HP Electric can easily be replaced with HP Grass in UU.

I tried a UU Clamperl team and easily won every battle except one vs ODDish. Clamperl was Spored in that battle because I though Ice Beam would OHKO Parasect. Apparently its REALLY bulky.

CLAMPERL FOR BL!!!

I guess you could argue that it can't come in too often, and is screwed by a single mispredict.

lol clamperl is not as strong as a few other pokes in that tier and it needs trick room or some obscure BP combo to function
