Recommend PC games.

I play America's Army. It's a free fps that the Army made to make new recruits (wtf).

It's actually a really fun game to play. It's like CS, but with 40x more strategy and half the movement.

oh my god A*A is so damn fun. Movement is slow and tactical, action is fast and visceral. Its great. You might end up killing yourself due to retardedly awesome snipers however

I was more scared of Bioshock's "minimum requirement" of 1024MB RAM since I didn't bother to get more than that and typically PC games run like shit on mere "minimum" specs. :( Shame, because I'd really like to play it.

If you want to test how it runs, there's a Bioshock demo on Steam.

I've played both and I've got to say that Source way outranks 1.6. It's not about having graphics > gameplay, Source IMO has better gameplay as well with the great physics. I can't stand to play 1.6, it's just so ugly.

Crysis is sweet.

Doom3 (+expansion) was brilliant IMO, but I know there're a lot of people that don't like it.

Oblivion is great. After playing both it and Morrowind preceeding it about extensively as possible, I've got to say I liked Morrowind more. So don't say I picked Source for the graphics!

Far Cry has the best online play I've ever seen. It's absolutely hands-down fantastic. I love that game to death.

Nobody's mentioned Grand Theft Auto...

edit: I think BioShock's "anti-piracy" scheme is fucking retarded and, while it seems like it's a decent single player game, I refuse to buy it for that reason.

Not decent. Great. Which part of the DRM don't you like? It's a great purchase for $29.99. Get it on Steam. Not ideal, but 5 installs per computer and you can install it on 5 computers. You'll probably only do it once on one computer.

Edit: Yeah, if you have any interest in the GTA series, you can get GTA, GTA2, GTA3, GTA: VC, and GTA: SA as a package for $29.99 on Steam.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of war and its 3 expansions are really good RTS games.
There's very little resource management, lots of mirco, and the races (now 9 playable races in the most recent expansion) are all very different.
Not only is it a good engine but the flavor that goes with the races is just spectacular. Good old 50,000 ways the universe will end tomorrow that we all know and love from the WH40k universe.

As far as comparing it to the tabletop miniature game that it spawned from... eh I guess I really don't have an opinion there.

You might want to check them out... good luck anyways

Oh yes, definatly this. YOu forgot to mention that they are awesomely violent and visceral :D

Dawn of War 2 is coming in Spring 09, Warhammer Online is launching this year, and rumour has it that Warhammer 40k online will launch somtime around Dawn of War 2.

If you're looking for gaming computers as opposed to building one(which can get quite expensive) I'd recommend this site http://www.left-click.us/.
Um, what? Unless there's some super blowout deal, it's always cheaper to build your own via individual parts.

Case in point: Putting an EVGA 8800GT 512MB graphics card in one of their computers is an additional $285. You can get that card for $100 anywhere else.

Team Fortress 2 is one of the best PC games around in my opinion. IIRC, it comes in Orange Box, though you can get it cheaper of Steam.

Portal is also a pretty good game

Yeah, tf2 is great. I got sucked into playing for hours today and was on a complete roll as a scout. It's ridiculously satisfying using the bat, and there was a moment earlier where I batted an invisible spy then a demoman in a few seconds, one after the other. The scouts shouted "I should be on a freakin baseball card!" while a taunted over the corpses xD My god it was great.

If you are more into older games, or don't really care about graphics, I suggest checking out Dungeon Keeper I and II. Really great games, it might be really hard to buy them though. You are an evil dungeon lord, and you must try to beat the forces of good. Your creatures don't totally obey you, they have their own personalities, likes and dislikes (besides imps, which are pretty much your slaves). You also can't just create units, you need to attract them to your dungeon. You get wide variety of spells, including possesion which allows you to directly take control over one of your minions... really fun!

Starcraft: Brood War expansion is a great game. It's practically an Olympic-level sport in Korea and is widely considered to be one of the best competitive games ever made, far better than WC3:FT in my opinion, but making Elf heroes and other guilty pleasures with WC's RPG-style hero system give it some extra fun points.

Elder Scrolls IV was fucking average, if you don't have III (Morrowind) get it instead, if you do just play it again for the 50th time and you'll still enjoy it more imo. I tried to like IV, I really did, but it was III with slightly better casting mechanics early and thats about it that was better (they gged theft hardcore).

Morrowind was just so good and involving. Oblivion came across to me as trying to be more flashy to appeal to the mainstream.
