Rate My Undefeated UU Team on Shoddy

YEs it is undefeated *cough* 9-0*cough* :naughty:

So this is my first attempt at making an UU team, so criticize me all you want, I don't mind. I've decided to play in the UU metagame because I pwn too much in OU ^__^ plus I've always thought that the UU tier is kinda cool. Without further ado, here's my team, based on the Smogon tier list.

Manectric@Life Orb
Hasty NAture: Static
252 Sp Atk, 220 Spd, 36 Atk
- Crunch
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- HP Grass
My lead and my mixed sweeper. 2HKOs Grumpig and Hypno with SR support.

Swellow@ Toxic Orb
Adamant Nature: Guts
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
- Brave Bird
- Facade
- Quick Attack
- U-turn
Awesome physical sweeper for the UU environment. I didn't find a need for Jolly nature in this tier, so I used Adamant, unless someone can ntell me why I should use Jolly. Standard set.

Hypno@ Leftovers
Calm Nature: Insomnia
252 HP, 56 Def, 200 SpD
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Protect
- Thunder Wave
My Special wall. Seismic Toss for 100 HP of damage. Wish + Protect for recovery, and Thunder Wave for support.

Steelix@ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature: Sturdy
252 HP, 120 Atk, 136 SpD
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
Physical Wall, Phazer and SR layer. Does its job extremely well.

Meganium@ Leftovers
Bold Nature: Overgrow
216 HP, 148 Def, 144 SpA
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Leech Seed
- Aromatherapy
Team Supporter, cures status (even though I have Swellow xD and forces switches with leech seed. Hits other grass types with HP Ice.

ani237.gif

Hitmontop@ Life Orb
Adamant Nature: Technician
252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Spd
- Fake Out
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
Technotop is just amazing in the UU environment. Best late game sweeper out there in the tier ( at least that I know of).

SO basically I'm extremely new to this tier, hence why I wasn't able to write much about my pokemon. All criticism is appreciated, because..

I know squat about UU ^__^
Remember guys, this is not meant to battle OU/ BL pokes.

Thanks in advance and sorry about the suckish RMT xD.

Always always ALWAYS pack a move to hit Grass Types on Meganium. Vileplume and other Meganium will switch into you constantly. HP Ice or Fire will solve this problem.

It's amazing how many people overlook this. Vileplume takes like 8% from Energy Ball and is immune to Leech Seed. Then it can aromatherapy, setup, or status your team. If you decide to stay in, Sludge Bomb will lay the smack down on Meganium.

Never leave Meganium defenseless against Grass types... you'll soon regret it.

I could also see the Life Orb Sharpedo/Crawdaunt set that I made up (lol, no I am not advertising) causing some problems... Crunch kills Hypno, Ice Beam kills Meganium, Surf kills Steelix... Swellow or Manectric cannot switch in safely.

I would make Hitmontop bulkier and with Leftovers to remedy this problem. Also, Swellow with Jolly nature outruns Persian... but that's pretty much it. Good luck.

Thanks, its good to learn about the threats in the UU environemnt ^__^. I think I'll change Light Screen on Meganium for HP Ice. I will consider making Hitmontop bulkier, but damn I love technotop so much lol. Thanks again =D

Relaxed > Impish on Steelix to power up Gyro Ball. Toxic Orb does better on Swellow than Flame Orb, too.

Good, now your Meganium isn't walled so badly by Grass types anymore... I don't know what else I would change. Although, an Ice resistance would be really nice. You could swap out Hypno for Grumpig. Both are good special walls, but Grumpig has Thick Fat. This makes it easy to wall stuff like Glaceon and Ninetales.

I could see Nidoking being a little troublesome. The Life Orb'd megahorn,eq,suckerpunch, flamethrower set that me and a few others use could to terrible things to your pokemon. Making your top bulkier would take care of this problem somewhat.

I guess the answer to all this would be to make Hitmontop bulkier. I'll see what I can do, Also I prefer keeping Hypno because of Wish support which really helps my team a lot. I guess I could try the ResTalk set.

Hitmontop-
Replace Close Combat with Stone Edge or else you will get perfectly walled by Rotom. (Immune to CC, Mach Punch and Fake Out and resists Bullet Punch.) Last thing you need its Rotom walling your sweeper and burning it too. Also consider Muscle Band over Life Orb, theres no point in sacrificing life like that on your Top.

Manectric-
Consider Overheat over Flamethrower since you're running Life Orb, it hits harder than your STAB Thunderbolt does on neutral opponents and its a OHKO on Meganium.

SpecsRotom does a number to this entire team, according to metalkid. Meganium's 2HKOed by HP Ice, Manectric is 1HKO by shadow ball and fails to 1HKO with crunch, Swellow fails to 2HKO with un-gutsed brave bird and gets smashed by T-bolt, Steelix is 2HKOed by HP ice and fails to 1HKO with gyro ball and most definitely doesn't like the Choice specs, Hypno can't touch it and Hitmontop fails to do... anything to Rotom with bullet punch (dealing 15% per hit). I don't think the team likes Pinsir either.

EDIT: Sorry for repeating you, forsety, I had the window open for a very long time.

Pinsir has been mkoved to BL, so no worries about that. So how do I solve the problem?

I'm really sorry, I would normally know how to solve thigns in the OU tier, but I'm just way too new to this lol. And I feel I haven't battled anyone who is experienced at the tier.

You might need jolly on swellow to outspeed persian and kill it or to QA it before it fake out's you.

Edit: Also consider protect on swellow to activate guts.

Protect on swellow now. Maybe QA Since Hitmontop covers Salacs Easily. Swellow is already frail, and wont take much FO from a persian, plus the toxic.

Lefties on Hitmon so it can survive a quite more...

SE on hitmontop, for 2 reasons:

1- it have good Def(intimidate), and its not good to throw it away
2-Rotom, that can be killed by manectric, but anectric cant take LO+Burn for much time, especially with SR presence almost every time

Swellow is not meant to face Persian by any means. I got 3 walls for that >___>.

I'm keeping TechnoTop, since its been a lifesaver, so no intimidate. Stone Edge is a waste of a slot IMO. For what? Only Rotom? It'll have WoW'd me by then. Steelix handles Rotom pretty well since nothign is super effective against it.

If you're talking about a final move for Hitmontop, I always ran Pursuit on mine, in the slot where the OP currently has Close Combat.

Doesn't HP Ice do shit damage to Vileplume anyway? Might as well get Vileplume instead and massacre other grassers with Sludge Bomb and a Sleep Powder, something very useful in UU.

Beware of Scarf Glaceon, it can cause a lot of damage to your team.

Alright I've decided to switch Close Combat for Pursuit on Hitmontop, and I'll take Vileplume into consideration. Anything that is really good at defending Ice attacks besides Grumpig?

Swellow@ Flame Orb
Adamant Nature: Guts
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
- Protect
- Facade
- Pursuit
- U-turn
Awesome physical sweeper for the UU environment. I didn't find a need for Jolly nature in this tier, so I used Adamant, unless someone can ntell me why I should use Jolly. Standard set.

Fix'd.

EDIT: being the owner of a Swellow I know these things, Brave bird will kick your ASS considering Swellow's monsterous attack power after Guts activation, and considering Swellow is more frail than the nail on my right index finger, Protect is needed, you can use Quick Attack if you're really afraid of Focus Sash, but you already have SR support in Steelix so you don't really need it. Pursuit is better for things that might switch out, like pokemon that are low health thinking they'll get a free switch on the protect. Plus Pursuit hits ghosts. But otherwise great team! UUs and BLs have always been my favorites.

DOUBLE EDIT: You can use Toxic Orb instead of Flame, but i always found the extra damage every turn a bit skittish, of course i use my Swellow in the standard metagame, so whatever works for ya.

Alright thanks Latios.... I'll consider those changes. I just need help on how to stop Scarf Glaceon and Rotom since they seem to give me a lot of trouble. BTW this has reached an impressive 22-1 record. Thanks a lot guy ^__^

Scarf Glaceon shouldn't be a problem because you have a priority super effective move in Mach Punch. Scarf Rotom is fast, but hardly a threat, just switch to your Steelix if it uses an electric attack, and if it's your opponents last pokemon Gyro Ball it to death.

EDIT: No problem, I love UUs and I think you're awesome for using them ^_^

Lapras takes ice attacks like a pro. Ive also found that Mantine does the job very well and is a great complement to Steelix.
