This is my first competitive team, Its been doing ok on Shoddy. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to competitive battling.
Here we go...
Ninjask @ Choice Band
252 attack/ 252 speed/ 6 hp
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Speed Boost
~ Ariel Ace
~ Night Slash
~ X-Scissor
~ U-Turn
Fragile but extremely powerful. Most are expecting the standard baton pass/substitute to something like Machamp or Marrowak. If my opponent's starter can counter this setup I U-turn which usually deals about 30-60% and then switch to something to resist the attack I'm expecting. This Ninjask build has been doing very well with my team.
Floatzel @ Life Orb/Leftovers
252 attack/ 104 sp.def/ 72 hp/ 64 defense/ 18 speed
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Swift Swim
~ Crunch
~ Ice Fang
~ Rain Dance
~ Waterfall
I'm currently using Life Orb on this setup but am considering switching to Leftovers, While the extra power is nice from the Orb, I always find myself getting around 4 attacks off with Floatzel I think I could probably get 6 off without the 10% life taken away at the end of each turn. I have also has great success with Floatzel, pretty basic idea with this one. Rain Dance then Waterfall. Swift Swim doubles speed and attack power of all water attacks. so I really don't need many Speed IVs but I am considering switching it to a basic 252/252/6 set to ensure he gets his powerful waterfall attack off.
Blissey @ Leftovers
252 defense/ 252 sp.atk/ 6 hp
Nature: Bold
Ability: Natural Cure
~ Softboiled
~ Calm Mind
~ Ice Beam
~ Thunderbolt/Flamethrower
I haven't been having the success with this setup like I thought I would. Almost everyone carries a Blissey counter on their team. I am most likely going to either switch this set to a more defensive walling set or just remove her entirely. I like Blissey and I have first hand witnessed how powerful and annoying she can be so I probably just need more experience so I can find out how to properly use her.
Venusaur @ Leftovers
252 hp/ 252 sp.def/ 6 speed
Nature: Bold
Ability: Overgrow
~ Sleep Powder
~ Leech Seed
~ Grass Knot
~ Sludge Bomb
Venusaur can be very annoying. Pretty basic stragety put my opponent to sleep, seed it and switch. I'm considering running a defensive set because I already have Blissey who makes a much better special wall but people rarely use special attacks against blissey, so I figured this would be the more useful setup.
Jolteon @ Leftovers
252 sp.atk/ 252 speed/ 6 hp
Nature: Timid
Ability: Volt Absorb
~ Baton Pass
~ Hidden Power Ice
~ Shadow Ball
~ Thunderbolt
I don't like running choice on Jolteon, Leftovers is always a safe option. Nothing fancy with this set, Baton Pass to escape when my opponent switches in something that counters Jolteon. Hidden Power Ice to bring down the annoying dragons. Then Shadow Ball and T-Bolt because those are his best damaging attacks.
Charizard @ Life Orb
252 sp.atk/ 252 speed/ 6 hp
Nature: Modest
Ability: Blaze
~ Flamethrower
~ Air Slash
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Focus Blast
Before I added Charizard to my team I was lacking fire attacks big time which gave me big problems against things like Breloom and Heatran. I haven't tried this setup yet but one of the things that was holding my team back was type coverage and a good fire attack.
I am 100% sure I either want to remove Blissey from my team for something like Gliscor to wall physical attacks and keep Venusaur as my special wall. Or change it to a more defensive oriented set. I'm still pretty inexperienced so bear with me ;)
Any advise, criticism or anything is really appreciated!
