if I restart a cartridge, do I have to beat the 8th Gym before I can use my lv.100's in link battles?

I'm asking because I may go to NYC and I want to have a completely clean cart to compete with, but I don't really have time to beat the game again.
 
Life Orb Smogon set for Gengar says that explosion will always OHKO blissey, but when I run the damage calculations, it doesn't seem to. Am I missing somethin?

Can someone explain the sandstream special defense boost? Is it ground pokemon that get the spdef boost or is it ground and rock that get it?

I don't recall if your Pokemon disobey you in link battles, but you only really need the 4th badge (or atleast I hope so) since your pokemon are only going to be level 50..

@MALR:Did you add in the halved defense part? and Sandstorm gives a 1.5x Def boost to Rock-types

You need to have a nature that does not reduce attack and at least 136 EVS and 31 IVS for Attack.

Sandstream increase Special Defense by 50% for all Rock Pokemon.
 
So, what is pAC? I've been hearing about it, and it's obviously an acronym, but for what does it stand?
 
Expert Belt isn't the best for that set, as it 'only' hits Normal/Ice/Steel/Rock/Dark/Ghost/Psychic for Super Effective. I'd just give it Leftovers.
 
I have a Skarmory with 30/31/31/X/9/2 with whirlwind and brave bird

what should i shoot for in breeding special defense and speed on skarmory?
 
Could someone explain to me what moves or types of moves are affected depending on the weather? I know certain things like Thunder and Blizzard have their accuracies altered, but what about the base powers of moves?

Sp.def isn't TOO important since its a physical wall but still nice to have. You should shoot for 31 speed to outspeed metagross and other skarms.

The main base-power-affecting effects of weather you're going to encounter are with rain and sun.

Sun -
Lowers base power of water moves by 50%
Raises base power of fire moves by 50%

Rain -
Lowers base power of fire moves by 50%
Raises base power of water moves by 50%

Other than that, the only specific move that is affected is Solarbeam IIRC... that is, in rain, hail or sandstorm the base power is only 60.
 
The latest Cresselia I've found while SRing:

Nature: Timid
Trait: Alert to sounds.
HP: 16 - 17
Atk: 0 - 1
Def: 18 - 19
SpA: 28 - 29
SpD: 16 - 17
Spe: 30 - 31

Def is fairly close to 20, which is the minimum recommended for the CM sweeper set. SpD and HP are what worry me. CM will help make up for the slightly low SpD, but what about HP? Is it too low?

Can someone help me? Will this breed chain "work"?

F Elec + M Cham = M Elec w/ egg moves
M Elec + Speed Ditto = male speed Elec
M Speed Elec + Attack Ditto = Male speed/Attakc Elec
M Speed Elec + HP Ditto = Female Speed/HP elec
M Speed/Attack Elec + F Speed/HP Elec = male Elec HP/Attack/Speed w/ Egg moves

"Speed Ditto", "Attack Ditto", etc. means an adamant Ditto with a perfect 31 IV in that stat... "elec" is an electabuzz and "cham" is a Medicham...
 
^^ I usually use just the girls along the grassy path near Solecean Town, they have Pachirisus i think, and they are level 19 iirc. For me it's the convienient placing that makes it the best.
 
The other day I was playing on Shoddy. I lead with an Infernape against my opponent's Hippowdon. I go first (obviously) and use Taunt as he uses Stealth Rock. Then I use encore, encoring Stealth Rock, but then, when he uses Stealth Rock, it doesn't fail because of the taunt! Is this a glitch on Shoddy perhaps?
