For Cress, You need good Defence, special attack and Speed.
So, This Cresselia would have limited useage.
I know the SpA IV is low, but can it be compensated for at all? The idea was to use her as a CM sweeper, but I don't know if the IV completely cripples her. In truth I was planning on using her more for the Battle Tower than anything else.

If it's for the battle tower, than IVs are not AS important as if you were to use it or Wi-fi play. Still, it would be beneficial for you if you were to aim for a cress where the Attack is low and the Special Attack is 20+.

So, I should continue SRing then? It just seems like a shame to give up that perfect Speed IV and Timid nature.

It's not that I'm unwilling to continue SRing so much as it is I'm not sure if I'll come across a Cresselia this good again.

Well:(
I'd reccomend that you do keep SRing, but It's not totally needed. If you need a useable battle tower Cresselia, then yours would be fine, but if you also plan to use it for wi-fi or competitive battles, then I would extremely suggest that you keep going for good special attack and speed.

All right, thank you for your advice, Olie. I was thinking of using it for the BT first and maybe the metagame later, should I get into it. So I think I'll keep SRing.

What are some counters to mixmence? The analysis doesn't really say...
it does not have many because of it''s move set. The only thing that resists A dragon move is a Steel type and it has a fire move for those. There is no "Counter" to it because nothing can effectively switch into it and KO it back.

Calm Cresselia (252 HP, 128 Sp. Def) can handle the mixed set decently, as it only takes 43.47% - 51.13% of damage from Rash/Life Orb 252 Sp.Attack Draco Meteor. Draco Meteor won't KO on the second hit, and you can scare away the 'Mence with Ice Beam. Of course my spread is arbitrary, but goes to show that Cresselia can be a decent counter to most Salamence sets. Just watch out for Crunch.

If that doesnt float your boat, you can just revenge kill it with any Scarf/Ice Shard pokemon.

Cresselia works well, It can take all of its attacks with enough SDef EVs and can hit back hard with Ice Beam.

EDIT: Beat me....

Revenge killing is not as efficient as Countering. Firstly you need to lose something to switch in Mamo/Weavile etc. Then, If they switch out, You will need to lose something else if it gets back in. Unless of course you can keep the Revenger in, but that is unlikely if they switch anyway.

Long time lurker, first time poster.
Is there any circumstance where its better to run fire blast over flame thrower on infernape? i.e. any notable pokemon that it will OHKO but flamethrower won't (im running life orb if it matters).

EDIT: I've got another one. Life Orb Smogon set for Gengar says that explosion will always OHKO blissey, but when I run the damage calculations, it doesn't seem to. Am I missing somethin?

EDIT2: Another one. Can someone explain the sandstream special defense boost? Is it ground pokemon that get the spdef boost or is it ground and rock that get it?

IIRC, it Fire Blast KO's Gliscor when flamethrower doesnt. But if you run HP your better off with FlameThrower.

So the war with this Gamestop Deoxys has resumed after I made the discovery that it was actually EV'd somehow with the spread of 252 S.A/252 Spd/6 Att, sourced from the effort ribbon I got it and the use of EV berries. Having decided to grind him with some candies, putting his stats into Metalkid's calc, I found this info about the IVs.

29/30/29/31/29/31

He's Timid, has a Classic Ribbon, had Nevermeltice when I got him and had the evnt moves as well as being in a Cherish Ball. I suspect the guy giving them away had likely EV'd and cloned with an AR, which is a jolly good show as it saves me the bother of EVing, but one is still unconvinced that it's legit, what with two flawless stats and said higher stats in the other ones. To quote from Metalkid...

Deoxys-E - #386 (Timid)
HP: 29
Att: 30
Def: 29
SpA: 31
SpD: 29
Speed: 31
Timid E Deoxys: 29 / 30 / 29 / 31 / 29 / 31
Hidden Power Type is 'Dragon'. Hidden Power Power is 46.

HP did indeed do SE to a dragon type, and not too heavy damage either sadly, but meh. One will put all info down here about it, shall I?

Moves: Psycho Boost (5/5)

Classic Ribbon ("A Ribbon that proclaims love for Pokemon")

So, experts of Smogon, can you let me know if he's legit or not, considering he was cloned and EV'd when I got him from the guy giving them away?

What is theorymon?
It's the tendency of discussion about Pokemon to completely disregard player skill and techniques and focus purely on damage calculations.

it's seen a lot of with Garchomp discussions, since the player can make at least 5 of it's moves deal a lot of damage.

@Raverist: I seriously doubt the legitimacy of that Deoxys (then again I doubt a lot of them WC pokemon). Also there is currently no foolproof way to check legitimacy or rather lack thereof (not that there ever was despite popular belief of wifiers thinking "hack checking" is the 100% solution, this applies to both legends and bred, shiny and non shiny, etc. but atleast they weeded out the really bad hacks).

@phalanx: I'm pretty sure the "IV checking" people do with Shoddy is based on the PID-IV creation in the 4th gen (including 3rd perhaps). Seeing as Deoxys wasn't naturally caught in DP then it doesn't follow that formula/algorithm/whatchamacallit (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
