Well, with Smogon having the beautiful UU Ladder I decided it was now a great time to finally dig into UU. So under the alias "Slippery When Wet" I've been testing this team. I've had some success with it, and some disappointing losses so now I'm turning to Smogon for some help. So my UU experience is still rather limited I just kind of looked at what sounded good at the time and threw them together but overall I've been really fond of this team. So without further ado...
Hitmontop (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Technician
EVs: 232 HP/252 Atk/24 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Fake Out / Rapid Spin
- Mach Punch
- Close Combat
Because Ninetales hates Stealth Rock with a fiery passion, I've been testing Expert Belt and Rapid Spin over Fake Out, and its been a nice addition to keep those rocks off the field, so it may stay that way. There isnt too much to say about Hitmontop, he's awesome, rips Pokemon a new one, and he doesnt let Kabutops or Omastar sweep me with ease.
Kabutops (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
I have no idea what nature is more common on Tops but I've grown to love Jolly though I wish it would outspeed Adamant Leafeon but thats irrelevant. Even though I have no Rain Dancers on my team, Kabutops is strong and, importantly, fast enough to not need it. Even well built teams have a difficult time holding it off, I would even say that Kabutops should be BL but I guess thats a discussion for another time. Kabutops and Hitmontop form my basic Offensive force and have done pretty well co-existing; Kabutops does a nice job getting rid of Claydol and Altaria for Hipmontop.
Ninetales (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Dark Pulse / Hypnosis
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ground]
After being disappointed in the Nasty Plot Ninetales, Choice Specs has been working wonders for me. Many switch straight to their status absorber but they usually end up eating a massive Fire Blast from Ninetales. The damage right from the start is just amazing ohkoing / 2hkoing a great majority of UU, and the range of attacks is a most welcomed addition.
Rotom @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-o-wisp
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Thunderbolt / Shadow Ball
I saw this set somewhere and... Its simply amazing and one would not think so from looking at its low 50/77/77 Defenses. The ability to destroy the Nidos, Toxicroak, Hitmons, Scyther, Dodrio, and Swellow is just too good. While WoW seems to miss far too often, it is invaluable for many of those threats and many others not listed. While Scyther is far more difficult without T-Bolt, but Shadow Ball gives me options against the common Ground Types, Hypno, and Grumpig.
Toxicroak (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP/24 Spd/232 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Vacuum Wave
- Sludge Bomb
- Dark Pulse
- Nasty Plot
Basically... with Life Orb, Toxic has become one of my more valuable members; I've definitely enjoyed the "surprise" factor Nasty Plot gives over the standard Sucker Punch/SD one. Vacuum Wave was orginally Focus Blast but was just missing far too often to be always useful, and the priority is a pretty sweet addition. While Poison is a shitty attacking type, it gives me reliable STAB and my most damaging attack.
Steelix (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/120 Atk/136 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Explosion
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch
Explosion is almost like... Complete removal of whatever is annoying me. Stealth Rock is amazing for limiting Frolass and Ninetales switches who can all do a lot of damage to me. Roar for getting rid of Swords Dancers that I dont feel like Exploding on yet and Crunch is for... Hypno, Claydol, Grumpig, Rotom... Mostly Rotom though =|
Well there is my team, not too flashy but its been nice. Just looking for some improvement and such.
