OK, so, I was making a team for a OU tournament on a different website, and had included Hitmonchan on my team. I finished EV training it, and then came to the realization that the rest of the team was utter crap in a whole. So, I have decided not to let my Hitmonchan to waste, and base a team around it.
So, here is my reasoning.
Hitmonchan @ Choice Band
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
Ability: Iron Fist
Focus Punch
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Close Combat
The original pokemon of this team. I loved this pokemon from generation one, and no it feels awesomely retro.
Anyway, standard Physical sweeper EV spread, switching out once he no longer has a super effective move (due to choice scarf/band).
Now, seeing as Hitmonchan will have to switch out as soon as he is outclassed, I figured I would put in a physical wall with resistance to flying and psychic.
I ended up going with Bronzong, because it has resistance to both flying and psychic, and has Levitate.
there were several steel/rock types that had considerably higher defense stats, but they also had a x4 weakness to fighting types.
Bronzong @ Leftovers
252 Def 252 HP 4 SDf
Ability: Levitate
Stealth Rock
Reflect
Gyro Ball
Hypnosis
This is basically to counter any physical sweepers (with 110 defense, and hypnosis and Reflect).
So that covers all attacking pokemon, except for special sweepers. since I need some type coverage as well, I figured I'd put in a pokemon with a high special defense and special attack.
Milotic @ Leftovers
252 Sp Atk, 252 Sp Def, 4 HP
Ability: Marvel Scale
Surf
Ice Beam
Recover
Toxic
Ok, so after all of this, the only types that I lack super-effective moves against are psychic and fighting.
so, I decided to add a special sweeper.
Gengar @ Choice Scarf
252 Sp Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
Ability: Levitate
Will-o-wisp
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Psychic
Will-o-wisp for any Physical sweepers i may have to take down, and then psychic to get rid of fighting types, and shadow ball for any psychics, or darks or ghosts (as they have Super Effective moves against gengar.)
so, with type coverage taken care of, lets go back to hitmonchan, and his strengths/weaknesses.
It has very poor defensive capabilities, in HP defense, AND special defense.
so, for my last 2 slots, an annoyer (to disable my opponent's offensive capabilities), and a hazer (to stop my opponents from tearing down everything).
Annoyer:
Gardevoir @ Light Clay
252 Sp Def, 252 Def, 4 HP
Ability: ???
Hypnosis
Light screen
Confuse Ray
Dream Eater
send out against special sweepers, and annoy with hypnosis/confuse ray, after using light screen for defense. finishing with dream eater.
and finally, my Pseudo-hazer/Spiker:
Skarmory @ Leftovers
252 Sp Def, 252 HP, 4 Def
Ability: Sturdy
Roar
Spikes
Drill Peck
Rock Slide
As can be seen, i need help with the fourth move.
so anyway! that's my hitmonchan team! i will appreciate any help with this team.
