With Garchomp Now in Uber....

We can call agree that in almost every other team we have battled, Garchomp has been there. But now with Garchomp gone....is everything the same? Or do a lot of us have to drastically change our teams...to prepare for newer threats that now have the chance to be in the spotlight?

So, my question is this. What pokemon can take Garchomp's place without some of us having to drastically change our teams? I would like to hear people's thoughts on this...

Three pokemon I've thought of were Tyranitar, Lucario, and Heracross.
But none of them have the base 102 spd of Garchomp.

Lucario/Heracross/Tyranitar's Att. stats are nothing to be laughed at.

Especially with Tyranitar having a possible 403 Max Att.
Also, Heracross (with Guts and Choice Band)....

But enough of that...I want to know what you all think.

i've been playing suspect test over OU for the past few weeks. if you look at the stats the one poke that jumps out at me is heatran. it's no.2 on suspect test. garchomp was a great counter to this great pokemon. it has much more freedom now.

I reckon HP Ground will become the Hidden Power to use.

All those Pokes you stated there are easier enough to take out, Chomp on the other hand would always do some significant damage, and with him out the picture I'd like to see how it pans out in regards.

heh I had to change one of my teams drastically to where it was basically a whole new team, I didnt realize how much garchomp worked well my team synergy, I used him a lot as my outs from electric attacks but now there is no sweeper that can absorb electrics and attacks with a really high speed other then E-VIRE LOL. So yeah, I havent noticed a huge different yet although my gengar no longer carrys HP ICE heh heh heh. I already miss losing like 5-2 and coming back for a win cause of garchomp, but also at the same time I knew how broken that was. I voted OU on the poll because Deo-E is still roaming around which I dont think is fair if garchomp is UBER

I think there will be more physical and mixed Infernape around now. Lucario is already popular enough. I don't think everyone likes Tyranitar's sandespecially now without Garchomp to abuse it.

Sky Shaymin is broken imo. It'll be Uber, if it's confirmed that it's actually able to be used on wifi. 80% chance of -2 SpD with Seed Flare and 60% flinch from Air Slash, both STAB is scary.

I don't think Vire has the power to receive a 'huge boost'. If the game starts shifting as rapidly as it did on Suspect Ladder (and I'm guessing it will), then this is great news. So much more variety!

The idea in banning Garchomp isn't to find a replacement for it, obviously. The idea is to ban a Pokémon which has been poisoning the current OU metagame.

Therefore, there will be no replacements for it. Some Pokémon will see more usage, and consequently increase the usage of others (like Blissey, for one). While most may think "but hasn't Suspect shown what the banning of Garchomp will be like, already?" The answer is no, because the majority didn't play Suspect, while now they have no choice but to do so.

That is true, El, but only provided the pro-OU-chomps don't shake up their teams to deal with new threats made viable by Chomp's absence. No-one thinks Suspect was a perfect indicator of a post-Chomp metagame, it simply indicated (to those who did play it and who took the opportunity to vote) that Chomp was seriously restricting the game.

Well, at least now all those dragons floating around will be harder to dispose of, being Ubers. I state henceforth that Garchomp uses Crunch over Fire Fang in Ubers for the much wider coverage.

Will be kind of nice to see a little more variety, at least until a new niche is formed.

Which will happen....... the cycle continues.

Nothing will replace it. There is nothing in the current OU tier than can single handedly bring you from 5 - 2, to 2 - 0, as somebody already pointed out.

Finally, I can use some decent teams.

Nothing will change

Except Chomp is gone, but the metagame will change just as much as it always did.

I'm pretty sure the RMT forum has more influence on the metagame then the Garchomp ban, if you just visit the RMT forum every day you already now half of the teams around

The one thing I've noticed is that nothing can take Garchomp's place. It was so good at what it did that it really just made everything else obsolete.

The metagame is going to change quite a bit...nothing can do what Garchomp could do. When you remove what the most used pokemon is doing, its going to open up a lot of space for a lot more viable pokemon. You can tell already that the game is changing for the good, even when Chomp was still OU, people would use new sets on the suspect test ladder and then apply them to the ladder with Garchomp. With chomp...there really isn't a need to make new ideas because the same broken strategy will almost always prevail.

I can't wait to see how many new things stem from this necessary change.

ewww, we have Deoxys-E as OU but Garchomp is now uber.... That's ridiculous imo. Garchomp is so much easier to deal with and at least more predictable.

Actually Garchomp is harder to deal with, apart from the starter set, Deoxys is infact easy to counter, Pursuit, Metagross, Spiritomb and Priority moves hit him hard.
