Your most memorable video game boss fights *spoilers*

Pokemon R/B/Y
VS Blue/Green

He was awesome with the high leveled Pokémon.

Dynasty Warriors 3
VS Lu Bu (hard mode)

Without Fire arrows and a well-trained officer he's fucking impossible.

Breath of Fire 3
VS Myria

I love this battle. From beating an old chimera as the first boss you take on
the Goddess of this world. As a dragon. Feels extremely epic.

Kingdom Heart I & II
VS Sephiroth

I have to admit I still haven't beaten KH1 Sephiroth... He's impossible. Sin harvest always
gets my ass handed.
But KH2 Sephiroth was a piece of cake after you know his attack pattern.

Dark Cloud 2
VS Dark Genie

I spent 4 days trying to beat him, constanly leveling myself up and getting
resurrection powders. Most memorable moment was when he finally died.

Post YOURS, fellow Smogoners!

Pokemon Red/Blue's Green DEFINATELY than Doom Dragon from Golden Sun and who can forget the terror that was Alpha Omega from Megaman BAttle Network 3?

A giant eyeball on a spider body is always the trickiest boss to face :p Especially if its surrounded by Baby Spider legs.

Miguel in Chrono Cross. There you are, breezing through the game, feeling like there is no stoping you, having beat hydras, ghosts, demons and even a tank. Then this skinny myope old man whom seem to have fled from a bad movie about Kansas hands your ass over to you in a matter of moments.

Criosphynx in Chrono Cross. It felt SO satisfying when this beast died I wanted to beat it again.

Barubary in Breath of Fire 2. It is HIM, your nightmare. It is cool too that you can opt for fighting him alone, in a duel. Breath of Fire 2 was my first RPG so Barubary will always have a dear spot in my heart.

And Lavos. Do I need to say something about Lavos? Fucking Lavos.

Freya from star ocean 3. She has one million Hp and sacred ether is easily capable of wiping out a fully-leveled party. the only way to beat her is to abuse stun bombs and cancel bonus the shit out of her.

I really haven't played that many "epic" games but I've had a lot of fun with the few that I have.

I remember that the final boss of LoZ:PH was being incredibly difficult for me to take down. After about three hours of attempts to beat it, I finally remembered that you could just tap to slash, instead of swiping your sword across the screen at an angle. After that the boss was ridiculously easy, but all throughout the game the bosses were a lot of fun to beat.

I liked fighting the single hunter in Halo 2 on legendary, that's always a lot of fun.

Saddest. Music. Ever.

It's kind of a cliche by now, but fighting Sephiroth in FFVII for the first time was an experience and a half. There were a lot of great battles in that game, though - all the JENOVA battles, the fight against Diamond Weapon, Hojo, the Demon Wall...

Oddly enough, the final battle of Mario and Luigi 2 was pretty epic. The final boss had something like four or five forms, and the battle took at least an hour, probably two. For a game that relies so much on timing, it was a really grueling battle.

The final battle of Persona 3 was epic if only for the massive, massive buildup to it. The game itself takes over 100 hours for most people to complete, and the final battle really ties everything together quite nicely.

Wow, it's been a while since I've played a video game with bosses. The only video games I've been playing lately are Pokemon, Tekken 5, and Soul Calibur III.

I'm gonna go with Ridley in Metroid Prime 1, I guess. Damn he was hard to beat.

Nobody's mentioned Ganondorf in Twilight Princess? I loved that battle, especially the duel at the end. The horse got annoying though after a while.

Fuck Ozma. Not only did this optional boss take fucking ages to get too, but it was fucking harddddd :( And when you finally beat him, you get an Elixer and the satisfaction of winning :D

I dont think I need to say anything about this fight that you dont already know from fighting him :)

Proclaimer from Star Ocean 3 was an intense fight, not really because of the difficulty, but because of how strong the story had hyped it to be and and the music, which is incredibly epic-sounding for the first few seconds. Miguel was great but already got mentioned.

The final boss fight of Metal Gear Solid 3 was also one of my all-time favorites. Fighting in a field of white flowers was an awesome touch, as was the emotional music.

And in Metal Gear Solid 4...REX vs RAY. I think there's a part in all of us that wanted to play out that matchup.

The huge Baby Bowser in Yoshi's Island. Basically you fight the same character you just beat, except he's the size of a skyscraper and is rushing at you in the background (in a 2D game!) from miles away, while the ground beneath you crumbles.

As far as the weirdest boss goes though, Giygas wins that easily.

Ashera's pretty hard for a Fire Emblem boss. A regenerating aura in the eight squares around her, and an attack that can hurt everyone on the map makes her the hardest boss in a Fire Emblem game. She also kills your units easily when everyone in your party has max stats. I killed her about four times before I discovered she stopped regenerating when I killed her with Ike. The fortify staff was the only thing stopped her from annihilating everyone. But for all that? Best Fire Emblem final boss ever.

Super Metroid - Mother Brain
The king Metroid's sacrifice! The hyper beam! The escape from Zebes!

Star Fox 64 - Andross
Only I have the brains to rule Lylat....

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Ganondorf
The final segment of this fight nails the epic atmosphere perfectly.

Advance Wars - Sturm
This counts, right? I really felt a sense of accomplishment after overcoming that obnoxious meteor.

Alien Soldier - Everything
The entire game is basically a giant boss rush. It's hard to pick a favorite, although the final boss is unfortunately underwhelming.

Wow, i had a lot of memorable boss fights, for now i must mention these.

Lavos- Chrono trigger

I love this game, and the boss fight was so good for me, CT has a lot of memorable bosses

and...

"The End"- Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake eater

boss_embed016.jpg

The first time you fight "the end" it's a hard, long one, man that boss fight is so epic.

Dracula/Shaft/death/Minotaur- Castlevania Rondo of blood
Rondo of blood had a lot of memorable boss fights! even the PSP remake includes a new boss which is awesome: the Hydra.

Melbu Framha from Legend of Dragoon.

It took a frickin 4 hours constantly selecting attacks.

Oh Jesus, I remember that fight. It wasn't so much epic as just really freakin' long. Hours and hours of carefully hitting the little boxes, until your brain melts and your fingers fall off.
