Second Attempt on my OU team...

After screwing around for a while in shoddybattle, I improved my team a little bit, but it still needs some help. Here it is:

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/86 Atk/80 Def/92 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Grass Knot

Slight variation for this bronzong; it has grass knot where hypnosis usually is. This makes bronzong a decent counter to Swampert/Hippowdon, and it helps against cursing mamoswine too. It might be able to tickle gyarados a bit, but I haven't tried it out yet.

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/80 Def/36 Spd/56 SAtk/84 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Heat Wave
- Toxic

My counter to scizor (and to a lesser extent metagross). Toxic helps to annoy swampert and other things it can't really hurt like gliscor, and it helps me stall through fellow zapdos as well, though hidden power grass may be preferable. Its stats reach 384 HP/226 Defense/245 Speed/300 Special Attack/260 Special Defense, which should be okay.

Machamp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP/144 Atk/108 Def/4 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Dynamicpunch
- Stone Edge

Bulky attacker. Machamp can get annoying very quickly with dynamicpunch's confusion rate. Some extra defense is used to take tyranitar's choice banded hits better, since it's a makeshift counter to tyranitar, while still maintaining a fairly decent 365 attack.

Spiritomb (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/76 Def/104 SAtk/76 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Pain Split

A special attacker/Psychic counter/Lucario Counter. It also blocks attempts to remove stealth rock, and calm minds for an eventual sweep. Pain split helps against non-toxic blissey and is just used to heal and be annoying.

Mamoswine (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 124 HP/252 Atk/64 Def/68 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

Another sleep talker. It helps to scare skymin away in case zapdos gets flinchhaxed, and just attacks with durability. This is mainly a filler pokemon though; I am going to consider exchanging this for blissey... or something.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 160 HP/132 Def/216 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
- Surf
- Rapid Spin

This is my rapid spinner. Extra defense is used to help survive against those pesky gyarados. It should have enough special attack to KO after stealth rock damage, and if it doesn't bronzong can easily siphon off the remaining hp with grass knot I guess. The even more annoying rotoms have been getting on my nerves though.

OK, so your team comes across as reasonably stallish, it might be worth having something that can take advantage of this fact that can lay down Stealth Rock, Spikes and / or Toxic Spikes. So may I first Reccomend Deoxys S over Mamoswine. Possibly as a Lead, with Stealth Rock support coming from Bronzong and Spikes from Deoxys, you countering your opponant with Machamp, Zapdos etc... will quickly wear down your opponants Team. Deoxys will also provide you coverage against Skymin assuming you give it Ice Beam and enough Speed to outspeed it, and can Revenge kill T-Tar should you use Super Power.

You then have a team that poses a defensive threat to out stall other people, whilst still doing damage in the form of Starmie, Spiritomb, Machamp and Zapdos. You can also use Deoxys Later if he is still there. So make sure that the plan is to get the hazards up and then proceed to rack up the damage attacking where nessecary. You have the defensive ability to cause switches so the plan should work reaonably well. If you find you are having any specific problems, feel free to come back and ask :D

Thanks for the deoxys-S suggestion; I forgot that he learned spikes, and he's a great counter to skymin due to that amazing speed.

I do have three questions though:

1. Do you think this team is a noticeable improvement over the last team I posted (http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47089)?

2. Do you know a good EV spread for spiritomb? He seems to have a bit of trouble taking attacks sometimes thanks to his base 50 HP, and at the same time he feels a bit weak.

3. Would the standard spikes set for Deoxys-S work? Or do I need anything specific? I think that I'll use the fourth moveslot for something like superpower or ice beam since weavile, tyranitar, and salamence are pretty menancing to my team.

Okay, sorry for the double post, but I just realized something else:

Deoxys-S is a lot better at scaring away counters than Starmie. Therefore, I can use deoxys-S to counter stuff like gyarados and skymin and replace starmie with something like tentacruel; tentacruel is able to set up toxic spikes and can arguably "rapid spin" more effectively than starmie since he can absorb toxic spikes without having any fear of being blocked. I don't really know though, and I just thought this idea up, so maybe you can tell me what you think of it.

I would get rid of Ice Shard on Mamoswine and maybe add in Avalanche, seeing as if you use Sleep Talk, Ice Shard will lose its ability of going first. Although I suppose that Ice Shard is good for killing off Salamence and Shaymin-S, so I would suggest either keeping resttalk and adding avalanche, or keeping ice shard and maybe chaning the set around.

I also suggest Ice Punch on Machamp.

Yes, as I posted earlier this team seems to at least have some kind of purpose to it, although adding more stall elements certainly helps it in that respect. You're getting on the right track although I do suggest trying to find a more expeienced perons to talk about team building with (The Tutoring Programme perhaps)

2. Do you know a good EV spread for spiritomb? He seems to have a bit of trouble taking attacks sometimes thanks to his base 50 HP, and at the same time he feels a bit weak.

It all depends on what you think the largest threat to your Deoxys. I do not reccomend Psychic. Although it is a STAB attack it is doing nothing to threats to you who will be able to set up (Bulky Mence etc..) or CB tar who can come in and pursuit you. So SuperPower is definately recommended. The 4th move can then depend on whether you think Gyra or Dragons are more of an issue to your team, as if they discover your moveset they will set up on you, but you want to make sure that it is the one you can handle better. You have mamo so I suggest Thunderbolt. Either of those two, or even both would be fine.

EDIT: Yes YES for Toxic Spikes + Rapid Spin Support from Cruel.
