What is the importance of Scizor in the current metagame? It's always been a Pokemon I liked, ever since first seeing it in GSC, and I'm intrigued by how useful it is now.

Technician + STAB make his Bullet Punch the third most powerful priority attack in the game (beaten only by Arceus Extremespeed and Absol Sucker Punch). It has the ability to take out almost every single fast frail sweeper, and makes Scizor one of, if not the, best end game pokemon there is.

As an example of its power, after a Swords Dance, Life Orb Bullet Punch 2HKOs max/max Gliscor, one of the premiere walls of DP.

Interesting. What's the suggested setup, then: Adamant@Life Orb, Swords Dance/Bullet Punch/Roost?/?

I'm adding Roost there as an assumption, although I have no idea if Scizor can pull it off.

Well, the set that I run to great effect is:
Adamant -- 232 HP, 252 Atk, 20 Def, 4 Spe w Life Orb.
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Roost/U-Turn

232 Evs put your HP at 339, which allows you to take min damage from Life Orb. You are slower than Skarmory, which allows you to hit it super effective with Superpower when it Roosts. Other than that you should be using Bullet Punch so your low speed shouldn't matter, but the extra HP and Def might just let you get that extra Bullet Punch in.

I'll link you to the Scizor analysis, currently being worked on:

I'm playing Platinum, and I just got out of the Torn World (with a pretty decent Timid Giratina) and can't get to Sunyshore. What do I have to do to get that guy to let me leave the Valor Lakefront through the East route?

Edit: nvm, found the answer.

Does your Pokemon's nature effect it eating Gold PokeBlocks from Emerald?

Also what should I feed my Smeargle if I want it to win every contest and what nature should it be?

Recently I've tried to do shoddybattle, but I don't know how I actually battle. I downloaded the link that said download with a box next to it, but I don't know how to fight :/

halp?

What of Pidgeot's Platinum Tutor moves actually have some merit to them? They're almost all special, including Heat Wave.

So what I'm getting at is should I go for a good special (lol) Pidgeot, or a good Attack one?

I just don't think it's fast enough to pull off Air Slash though.

But there is a glitch in Shoddy Battle that allows you to use Trick even if you are not holding an item.
e.g.
Heatran uses Fire Blast on Celebi,
Celebi's Occa Berry activates,
Celebi uses Trick,
Celebi gets Choice Scarf, Heatran gets nothing

This is not how it happens in-game, where Trick fails if you are no longer holding an item.
I, by sheer chance, had a wifi battle where I got to use Trick against an opponent holding no item (Chesto Berry, which he used before I used Trick). He was stuck with my Choice Scarf, while I got no item.

Later, I decided that for the hell of it, I'd use Trick again to test what happened. I got the Scarf I had tricked onto him earlier, and he got no item.

Trick works fine in-game regardless of whether you/your opponent is holding an item.

Really? I'm pretty sure I read it in the research thread that Trick doesn't work like that. And I wasn't the first one to say that either, I had read a badgeholder's post to that effect earlier. But I'll take your word for it. Maybe it's Switcheroo that works differently?

I dunno.

On Porygon2, I need some good set ideas, to use Conversion or Conversion2 with. They are such cool moves but I am stumped.

I was thinking it would be cool to switch into some slow, powerful choice bander and thanks to some speed EVs, use Conversion before they could hit you again... allowing Porygon2 to become a makeshift counter in a pinch. Conversion always turns you into a type that resists their attack. The loss of STAB wouldn't be an issue because Porygon2 hardly ever uses Tri Attack.

Another idea I had would be a Charge Beam sweeper, with Recycle and Lum Berry so you could easily set up on Blissey.

It looks like you're not really getting the answer here--given that this place is more competitive oriented than in-game oriented, it doesn't necessarily shock me, as people may not care as much about the contests. I wish you luck in finding the answer--maybe post it elsewhere?

Skiddle, I think the sweeper set in the analysis is the best way that P2 can attempt a sweep. 252HP/252SpA with Charge Beam, Tri Attack, Ice Beam and Recover actually works really effectively. I dont think it should waste both a moveslot and an item slot just to avoid the paralysis, since it is already slow as dirt at base 60. But I guess it would help a lot against Toxic, but it still seems a major waste.

EDIT: I've posted something in your P2 analysis, you might wanna look it over.

I recorded the match with the Battle Recorder, because I honestly thought it would fail too.

Oh okay, don't worry I believe you. Btw this is totally random but when are you uploading another Platinum battle? Yours are some of the best on Youtube.

In the meantime, I'll upload Trick working :P

Truthfully, people don't seem to play wifi much anymore. Which means the number of good opponents is... not very many. And now that I can use Battle Recorder to pick and choose which matches I upload after I play (as opposed to having to decide to record first before), I'd prefer to only upload the good ones.
