KnightFetch approves of this idea. Real sword and shield time baby, let's stop messing around with the kiddie stuff anymore.

No Sword is more badass than a leek sword.

Period.

Though it's obvious people are bound and determined to make Far a fighting/flying evolution, I voted to keep its type. The lack of a single fighting move in its original pool being a big reason for that.

Voted change normal type. Not that I'm advocating Flying/Fighting, it's just that you don't really have much room with Normal/Flying without risking outclassing one of the many other normal/flying types.

ook i guess im glad we know what we're doing in this forum

just havin some fun and not much else ;D

<Gormenghast> otherwise what is it, its a bunch of kids playin god
<Gormenghast> not asking any interesting questions
<Gormenghast> why did we even give it a forum
<Gormenghast> its a spriter thread glorified lol
<Misty> because people like it
<Gormenghast> ._.
<Gormenghast> ok i guess thats teh answer i wanted
<Gormenghast> cap isnt really worth anything really
<Gormenghast> i guess i wanted to make it worth something
<Gormenghast> and im diapointed tha ti failed

I voted to change the normal typing.

To make the evolution worth the trouble, we must give it a unique niche, and there are way too many flying/normal pokes around.

There's a difference between a unique type combo and a unique niche. Just saying.

Anyway, I voted for Normal/Flying because CAP is, like, never gonna do a Normal type, and I think it's less fanboyish to keep it the same way, but I'm cool with whatever.

less fanboyish? its still completely arbitrary. you are all pretty much approaching this with cap framework/getting ahead of yourselves still which is exacly what makes cap pokes on everage random and thrown together in an immature metagame.

i wanted camerupt for a metagame that i and more members can relate to

it was supposed to get new people actually interested in cap and actually start asking questions about fixing the metagame

if no one is intereseted in that and you all want to make a random bird based on your image of what a cool bird would be thats fine, im really only interested in the former though.

So... I decided to make my first post on the forums.
Some of you may know me as Karpi from the Smogon Server Chat on Shoddy. Most of you may not. Good for you.

Anyways, i always just watch stuff happen behind the scenes on the forum here.

This comment here by Gormenghast really bothers me. Because its mostly true.

The idea that we make the EVO project into something actually useful to the metagame should be what we're after.

Instead we choose Farfetch'd. For no reason other than we feel bad for it not having an evolution already.

I personally wouldn't use the EVO project on "feeling bad" for a pokemon. I would use it to improve on a role that's well-needed in the current metagame.

But that's just me.

Not all of us wanted Farfetch'd to begin with, let's not drag those people in just because majority of poster wanted some predictable Fighting/Flying Pokemon with a leek weapon. I admit that Camerupt would have been a way better choice for the EVO project but that window has long been closed now and we all just have to move on with our lifes.

Yes but if the point of the EVO project was to improve upon the role of a current so-so pokemon, thats not what we're doing.

What niche role can we improve upon that Farfetch'd has?

[It can't do anything.]

EVERYTHING needs to be improved on, so instead of a Fighting/Flying Samurai whatever, it could just as easily turn into a Bug/Flying pokemon with 20 base speed.

Choosing a pokemon like that only makes the project more difficult.

The main problem I see with this is that basically, people decided that they wanted a flying/fighting type, which is fine, but instead of doing it as a CAP, they arbitrarily turned it into a Farfy evo because he's a fan favorite.

Voted for "Change the Normal-type". Hoping to rally the troops for a Steel/Flying special tank KnightFetch evo :D. Screw Samurais, Knights are way cooler.
Like pretty much everyone else, I had Fighting/Flying in mind when I was thinking of a Farfetched evo, but Steel/Flying could be awesome as well (and would make more flavor sense than Fighting/Flying, in my opinion. Most fighting pokemon use their fists, not an actual weapon).

Not all of us wanted Farfetch'd to begin with
then why participate if the project is uninteresting and aritratry

I admit that Camerupt would have been a way better choice for the EVO project but that window has long been closed now and we all just have to move on with our lifes.

.....lets just take a couple of days and try it?

Thank you zfs.

There's not even any question about where this project was going.

Fighting/Flying
HP 70
ATT 125
DEF 65
SPA 85
SPDEF 75
SPEED 110

Something similar to this probably. And what does that contribute exactly?
Just another flying physical sweeper. Most likely walled by Cresselia and countered by scarfed versions of itself because it's weak to flying moves.

So predictable that nobody will enjoy all the polls it will involve.
This doesn't even help with the any current metagame problems.

So if we do it this way, are we at least going to be consistent?

If Corsola wins the next EVO poll, can we make it a levitating Steel/Water with all base 100 stats? Because if so, I'm down with that.

change de normal type..

Dark/flying with super luck/sniper trait, and the super stick *.*

Base stats:

HP: 60.
Atk: 125.
Def: 70.
Sp.Atk: 85.
Sp.Def: 75.
Speed: 110.

Actually, Corsola would have been a much better choice. It actually has a niche role as a CB Hustle Sweeper that could have been improved upon.

Except since Camerupt is actually worth something, it could start carrying an Iron Ball and continue using Earth Power to kill Levitating Corsola.

So why can Nintendo change the type of their pokemon upon evolution? Farfetch'd has many fighting like qualities in appearance, and a lack of a flying/fighting type in the metagame implies that it would be a good option for the evo. Also, normal/flying is very overused typing. Rather then just create another staraptor/pigeot/fearow with a different sprite, we are making something that would work well in the game as we know it.

Must I need mention the numerous typing changes upon evolution?

This has been bugging me since the Farfetch'd bandwagon began in the discussion topic, but what "fighting-like qualities" does Farfetch'd have? All of its attacks rely on its beak, its wings, or its stick. Fighting types, meanwhile, are defined by relying on their fists and feet to attack. They are clearly, unambiguously depicted as being martial artists and boxers, not swordfighters or samurais or ninjas. Yet half the voters seemed to take one look at that leek that Dux is holding and immediately translate that into "part Fighting type". What am I missing here?

I can see the metagame appeal of a Fighting/Flying type, but I don't see how it actually resembles everyone's favorite leek-spinning duck.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work.

I know this because I tried the same strategy with Torterra in the early days of DP.

Voted Flying Type.
Thank you. Seriously, thank you. For just stating you voted for changing a type that should remain on him, and giving no reasoning for it. It could work if, say, a bunch of people already gave reasons for why it should be changed as opposed to the normal typing, but since no one did, it should be required for you to post reasoning outside of "just feeling like it"
