Ok, the EVs and comments on this set in the analysis are really lacking and this set is very effective with the large number of Heatran and such running about, so I thought I would update this.

[SET COMMENTS]

Functioning similarly to Crocune, this Swampert has the possibility of boosting its stats even while sleeping. Curse boosts Swampert's Attack and Defense stats, allowing it to take a number of physical assaults while retaining the ability to hit hard. Rest allows Swampert to instantly cure itself of any damage taken during the course of the battle at the cost of being inflicted with sleep status. However, Sleep Talk helps to mitigate this problem. Sleep Talk allows Swampert to continue to boost its stats or attack with Waterfall, even while asleep. Because Swampert only has one move slot to use for attacking, Waterfall is the best option. However, it should be noted that this Swampert should be saved for late game, once any Water Absorbing Pokemon, such as Vaporeon, are removed from play. Earthquake could be used in place of Waterfall, but there are many more Flying-types and Levitating Pokemon than there are Pokemon immune to Water-type attacks.

Because Swampert is boosting its Defense, EVs are focused into HP and Special Defense. Life Orb max SpA Infernape can only deal, at most, 91% damage with Grass Knot to Swampert, while Swampert has a 67% chance to OHKO with Waterfall, when factoring in Life Orb recoil. With 216 SpD EVs, Swampert also gains a bonus Special Defense point. With such heavy investment in HP and Special Defense, Swampert becomes a reliable counter for Heatran, just be wary of Hidden Power Grass. Although slightly arbitrary, 40 Defense EVs allow Swampert to survive +2 Life Orb Adamant Lucario's Close Combat 97% of the time after a single Curse and OHKO with Waterfall, after Close Combat's Defense drop.

Earthquake could be an option next to Waterfall. It gets walled by flyers, but Waterfall gets walled by Vappy and bulky grass types.

Earthquake is still walled by bulky grass types, and said grass types can do heavy damage with grass moves so it's never advisable to keep swampert in against them

Sorry I did not really read the comments before >.>

You might want to put up Avalanche as one of the options as well. Although not STAB, it is generally weaker, but because of the speed drop, it is safe to say that it will come after the opponent.

But then a foe like Lucario could essentially set up on you, as you attempt to kill it with a 60 BP non STAB resisted attack. Waterfall is the best option.

Avalanche also means Swampert has a much lower chance of beating Heatran, who is one of Swampert's best switch-ins, as well as giving Swampert a harder time against other pokemon which he can normally beat with Waterfall, including Scizor after a curse.

What's even worse is if they have something like Grass Knot Celebi left. This Swampert is also one of the few opportunities a Skymin is going to get to switch in and set up Substitute.

I'm not really sure where this could be mentioned but it's important to have SR down while using this as a large number of zapdos now have HP: grass, gyara is around as usual, and now shaymin threatens this. All of these potential trouble pokes can be worn down through SR and waterfalls.

Tyranitar is a fantastic pokemon to pair with this as sandstream hinders all of Swampert's counters. Further, tar can take care of celebi with pursuit which is pretty much impossible to get by with this set.

I think those are just important things to know before using this swampert. Since grass type moves are so rare this swampert is most effective if you simply hunt down your opponent's grass-type-move users before sending out swampert (which is generally two pokemon max and is an extremely viable strategy). I realize all of what I said is obvious to us, it's not so obvious to people who would be reading analysis' and so I think it deserves some sort of mention. I guess they could figure this stuff out on their own...but that applies to anything in pokemon anyway. Your choice.
