Intial sketch.

My thinking is trying to use real life "scouts" as an inspiration, and in the past scouts would be on horseback, so I'm thinking of a skeletal horse design.

I may put some ribs on my design, to give it a little more skeletal look. But, I didn't really want this to look TOO much like an actual human skeleton -- I just wanted it to give the overall "impression" of a skeleton. If it's not giving off enough of a "skeletal vibe" --- then I have to do something about it. If it DOES give an overall impression of a skeleton -- then mission accomplished. IMO, a skeleton has plenty of "ghostliness" to it.

I intentionally did not want to make a "floating torso without legs" for this design. There are already plenty of ghosts like that, including our own Revenankh. So I was committed to have legs on my pokemon. I also really don't want to hear any talk of giving this pokemon Levitate.. So, my design is definitely looking like it can stand on the ground.

However, with all the talk of scouting, this pokemon should be switching in and out a lot. I tried to draw my design looking agile and "springy" like it could bounce in and out of battle with ease.

I'm going to experiment with ribs and see how it looks. I'm a little concerned about going overboard with detail. I feel like my design is already at the normal limit of detail that can be comfortably sprited, so I may not add ribs, unless they really look good. I'll post my progress for all to see.

Thanks for the comments.

Second design sketch. I've consolidated what I want to do here and moved the design away from the knight look.

Well the general idea here is the surprise Pokemon. It springs out of a box that is tiny compared to its full size. Since it's likely that this will get frisk it needed to have hands so I put them in a rather unlikely place (in place of bells). It obviously needs some more work but I rather like this concept as a whole and'll probably continue with it.

A sketch I did a year ago.
When I read the type combination, I immediately search my old notebook and scanned it.
I hope you like it, and C&C are welcome :)

If that was the Aura you were talking about in the connected body parts, then i didn't mean that. I meant give it some ghost vibe coming off of it, like the shadow pokemon in the GC pokemon games.

Update on the head. Hopefully the Frankensteins monster effect will be a bit more pronounced this time. Will work on the torso next.

I improve my design. Now Knightmon have legs, and a better pose.
Please, give me feedback D:

I'm not an artist by any means, but this is a pixelated version of my previous knight design. I didn't do the feet because I'm really bad with those, but here goes. Comments and constructive criticism, hope you guys like it!

Ok. Second concept. This time I wanted to use a cog, but I didnt want to draw a cog, because that would just look strange in a pokemon. Instead I tried to fuse the cog with the torso, so that despite not being a cog, it would still be reminiscing of one. I also tried to keep the whole medievel thing I had going along in the 1st concept.

I'm going to be rooting for Atyroki's submission from what I've seen so far. Not only does it look "Pokemon-ish" but it seems to fit with the base stats I had in mind.

I didn't really like my wings, so I decided to cut them off. I honestly think it looks better this way.

i made sketched out a few ideas atm
canarymon.png

this is my canarymon, its a rather simple canary(inanimate) inside a ripped apart birdcage. the canary is kinda like a lure for the actual ghost.

I rather like this idea, but I'm not sure what the best way to execute it would be. The way it's done isn't bad, but perhaps having a steel cage with a large, skeletal bird inside would work better? Or maybe have the Pokemon be the cage itself, though you'd still need some sort of canary inside.

Still, the canary theme is way too good to pass up.

Okay, sorry for the crudeness of the Image, but this idea popped into my head. It ended up looking not so steel-ish, but I like it a lot. However, it perfectly fits the title of Scout, seeing as it can pop in and out like nobodies business.

Obviously, its a Jack-in-the-Box. My personal favorite part is the mace ends on the hat.

So discuss...

So far I love Kopie's design. I'm holding my breath till Cartoons! comes up with something though, for he's always had my favorite designs.

The jack in the box made me laugh.

I really like the idea, maybe make the box transparent, 'cause it looks more like a dark type to me...

I like Doug's a lot...

I'll try to be a little more optimistic.

Ah, there we go. Much better. Why, thank you! You're welcome. Neah.

...Anyways, let me fill you in on my idea here. This is a fox ghosty animal thing. It's eyes are very dangerous, you see. They are able to see things many others cannot normally see, in the other realm. And just by looking at something, it analyzes it with it's eyes power. Then it transmits the information by looking at a different, sentient being. Almost like the fox can learn anything then tell it through visual contact. But this fantastic ability comes at a risk... the eyes will analyze anything they set their gaze upon. Therefore, too much sensory input through the eyes will cause mental self-destruction. So it wears a mask, all the time, to prevent it's mind from being overloaded. Experienced trainers can harness this power to learn the opponents strategies, abilities, or even it's held item.

That's what this Phantom Fox does. It has Steel plates over it's ball joints, each with FALSE eye-marks, to influence the idea that it's tricky and malevolent.

Constuctive criticism, please! I will be making another, better textured, better shaded version. Don't underestimate my capability.
