Fire Emblem vs. thread

Ahaha man I hate to say this but focusing on having a "good" team has drained my soul/will to play this game. I always find myself resetting midway through a chapter because a level-up on a team member didn't go well, and I've just gotten myself into a rut with this practice. I really hope that they make the amount of stat-boosters unlimited for the next Fire Emblem, because right now all it does is create a bunch of tension (omg is this guy's units hacked? etc) among wifi players and makes the in-game focus about RNG abusing, not just getting through the level.

1st. I don't think Judgment is broken at all. a fortify fix's most of it.
2nd. Forged weapons are broken, but you can always counter it, if someone use's a forged javalin, walk up and do close to close combat, if someone is using a forged brave Sword/lance, just far range it. Also use forged weapons yourself, I really don't think you should ban forged weapons.
3rd. Pm me if anyone wants to battle :)

Didn't see this thread for a while. Anyways, I've read a few complaints about things being imbalanced, and I see no imbalance in this game. I'll expand on that if needed, but I really don't feel like typing this all out. Anyways, I have a team (2 actually), and it's be great fun to battle any of you. Just a forewarning, my teams are RNG Abused with Maxed Forged Brave Weapons and such, so don't expect much mercy.

How do you RNG brave weapons?

Its not what you have, its how you use it. i've beaten hackers with my non-rng abused teams. like in pokemon. you can easily steal imperfectluck's stall team, but will you win every time like he does?

You don't. It's 2 seperate things. RNG abuse is a way of maximizing your characters stats. I don't really feel like explaining it, but in short, all my characters have max Spd, Str, Def, Hp, and most have max Skill. Brave Weapons are just really powerful weapons.

Fair enough. Not trying to sound arrogant or anything, but I've yet to lose with my latest team.

im actually pretty proud of my new horseman barst. with max skill, strength and speed are both 1 away from max, and defense is 2 away from max. im on chapter 17, so i still have to get stat boost items and such, but i feel that i've "proven sylvan wrong" about how there is no good horseman in the game, and it makes me feel cool even though im not. XD

Except, anything with a Forged Ridersbane or Pole Axe will kill your Horseman in one hit. Sorry to break it to you, but that's why some people don't like them.

@ Latiosmaster: Something like that, except you use the chapter save points.

I'm on my second run through the game after the first time being purely for fun. Trying to decide who to use is pretty tough as I don't really like to re-class as I might mess up.

Right now my team is (all 20/20)

Frey - Paladin @ Forged Brave Lance / Gradivus
Merric - Sage @ Forged Thoron / Fortify / Warp
Navarre - Swordmaster @ Forged Killing Edge
Barst - Warror @ Hauteclere
Ogma - Hero @ Mercurius

By the time I finish (I am at Chapter 21, the map with the first important secret shop) I hope that I'll be able to improve this. As of now I am stuck waiting for 3 weeks for all of the Brave weapons on the wifi shop to forge (money is not an issue). I am pretty comfortable with my first 3 choices, but the last two I think need work. I don't RNG abuse or anything like that so my units are not the best but they are pretty close. Some other canidates:

Caeda - Dracoknight @ Forged Wing Spear / Forged Brave Lance (Skill, Speed, Luck Maxed, but only 15 Str and 36 HP - could increase with items)
Wolf - Hero @ No Item - Slightly "Worse" than Ogma - Only advantages are B in Axes and 4 More Defense, with everything else being slightly less.
Sedgar - Horseman @ Parthia - (20 str, 25 skill, 24 spd, 21 def). Will be able to used Forged Sword and Bow.

Well that's what I have on my plate to think about for the next few weeks. Any tips are welcome with what to do. My FC is below if anyone wants to fight.

Last question: Is Xane useful at all? I have him at level 30 if that matters (yay for getting money from the arena!). I am guessing it really depends on the map.

FC: 360971403098

If you aren't RNG abusing, Sedgar and Wolf are both very useful options, as they can pretty much guarantee a good amount of Def. For people who care, here's my personal chart of Def magic numbers that I keep in a notepad document for reference.

Hp and Def
----------
* Hp+(Defx2)>98 allows you to survive one round of anything. This is the
number most characters shoot for. It is most easily obtained by 59Hp and 20
Def, or something around there.
* Hp+(Defx4)>168 allows you to survive two rounds of a Swordmaster while
wielding an Axe. Subtract 4 from 168 for if you want to live while wielding a
Sword, and subtract 8 if you want to live while wielding a lance.
* Hp+(Defx3)>140 allows you to survive a Longbow shot and anything physical
following it.
* Hp+(Defx3)>124 allows you to survive a Longbow shot and a Swordmaster attack
following it.
* Hp+Def>87 allows your mounted units to survive one round of a Berserker Pole
Axe
* Hp:Def>81 allows your mounted units to survive the most powerful Ridersbane
attack (That is, one coming from a General, the lance-wielding unit with the
highest Str cap).

Format miight be messed up from the copypaste from notepad.

EDIT: Forgot to add the actual point of my post. If you're going to be playing on normal mode and arena abusing for you're run through, I'd recommend Radd instead of Navaerre, as he gernerally turns out better. Also, forged Brave weapons are much more powerful than the Hauteclere, Parthia, and Mercurius. Also, if you use reclassing, Sedgar and Wolf should really have much, much higher stats than most of your units (Assuming you didn't get really lucky or RNG abused); however, you seem to be too far into you're playthrough to do this again. Anyways, Xane can be handy, as some people end up devoting too much time to a certain character and are not able to get another one to a decent level. The whole imitating thing is generally too much of a tactically disadvantage to be bothered with, so try to avoid it. Hope I helped!

Note: My Wi-Fi guide for FE:SD will either get accept or rejected by GameFAQs within the next few days. If it get uploaded, I'll post a link here.

It really depends on the class and the stats. For example, if you are attempting to raise a Merric as a Sage, you'll need maxed HP, Def, Mag, and Spd. Skill and Lck are lower priorities. If you end up pulling a level with like, Hp, Mag, and Def, you'd definitely want to keep that one; however, if you pull a level with Hp, Skill, and Lck, I'd toss that one.

My favorite character in terms of single-player gameplay has definitely got to be Frey. In terms of Wi-Fi gameplay, I'm gonna have to say either Merric or Catrina. Catrina has WTFgrowths and looks awesome, but Merric has the capability to max every single freaking stat with enough RNG abuse. Plus, green hair is ftw.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate on with Frey. You'd get credit in my location and all that stuff as well. Thanks for the offer! Looking forward to seeing. What you did with Navaerre looks great.

I'm starting my wifi team and the basic layout will be a Sage, Sword Master, Berserker, Paladin, and General or Sniper. Any help on who should fit which role or any changes is appreciated. I'm going to start building in about a week.

My first team was identical to that, with Sage Merric, Berserker Barst, Paladin Cain, Swordmaster Catria, and Sniper Abel.

Snipers are much better units in wifi than Generals, since they're a lot faster and can attack without revealing their position (using the Longbow). Generals are really slow and get doubled by Sages and everything faster, so their durability doesn't amount to much.

If you find that that isn't working for you, I suggest looking into a team with three units of a single class that have a lot of movement, backed up by two Sages (like Merric or Linde). Like, I took the team I had above, and made Catria and Cain Dragon Knights, trained Linde in the a save file I had in chapter 24, added Xane, and got rid of Abel and Barst. Dragon Knights are slow as hell, so they can't stand up to really powerful attacks, but when they're on the offense, they can usually defeat the enemy with their Brave weapons and high attack. And each turn, one can have up to half of their health healed by the two Sages supporting them.

I've heard good things about Swordmasters and Horsemen as well. For the latter, remember to use Apotrope to protect them from Ridersbanes.

SixOneSix's advice is good, but he left out a few things.

Firstly, I wouldn't recommend spreading your teams resources that thin. A team of RNG abused characters can only go so far, and most of the best teams need a central strategy designed to win. Your team set-up could actual work as with a central strategy by pairing the Sniper and Berserker, and the Swordmaster and Sage to kill thing, while having the Paladin scout; however, teams consisting of Paladins with high Def and Res will roll that type of team pretty easy. If possible, I would recommend getting another Sniper, as the Longbow is an invaluable tool to pick things down into the kill zone with. Something like this would be the best idea to try and retain your teams idea while improving it's effectiveness.

Sniper
Berserker
Sniper
Levin Sword Horseman
Sage

The snipers and berserker can work together to kill things without fear of retaliation. A Levin Sword Horseman is a powerful tool that can strike from any range and hit both stats. Generally, a Sniper paired with him should allow him to nab a kill as well. The Sage is there to bring things into the kill zone with Swarm, as well as thing up with Thoron
