MAMOSWINE the king dick

Introduction:
Ok so I recently started playing pokemon on the smogon servers and have been continuously trying to come up with teams that have good synergy and focus on working together instead of just trying to take a whole team itself. Anyway I have always been impartial to ice pokemon since the G/S/C days when piloswine was introduced so I centered this team around the fearsome MAMOSWINE

The Game Plan:
As you will see this team does not have any forms of passive damage other than Tyranitars Sandstorm. This team is built around a series of quick offensive attacks and setups in order to clear the way for mamoswine to sweep. There are no specific walls on the team but zapdos tyranitar and machamp make a farely solid defense while still hitting like trucks.

The Lead:

Breloom(S-Man) @Choice scarf
Jolly (+Speed/-SpA)
Poison Heal
6hp 252Atk 252Spe
-spore
-superpower
-seed bomb
-stone edge

Why this lead?
Ok so I wanted a lead that I could make use of later in the game while still putting me at an advantage in the begining. So I thought about the normal bulky leads Swampert, Hippowdon, Tyranitar etc. And then I decided that Mamo would best fit into an offensive team since I will never make a hail one.

Move Choices
Spore - the most reliable sleep move in the game coupled with outrages speed stops many common leads in their tracks.

Superpower - because this version of Breloom will not be staying in superpower is his highest stab attack and is there to get a clean hard hit in before running away.

Seed Bomb - This fills out the other end of Brelooms stab combo and is extremely usefull against Swampert Hippowdon and the likes

Stone Edge - Provides coverage for what is missed by the other moves mainly the nasty flyers that think they can come in with impunity and be whacked in the face.

These four pokemon are here to pave the way for my Mamo to sweep by both crippling and eliminating the pokemon that counter my Mamo and at the same time they take care of each other's weaknesses

Machamp(Dozer) @Leftovers
Adamant (+Atk/-SpA)
No Guard
252hp 252atk 6hp
-dynamic punch
-payback
-rest
-sleep talk

Why this Pokemon?
Machamp is known for dynamic punch and there not being one pokemon save slowbro who wont be severely crippled by it. Machamp came on to the team after I realised I needed a Blissey counter which Machamp handles like a cham being able to switch into a toxic or t-wave and rest off the status or threaten to ohko or confuse a switch in. Because my TTar isnt banded i need some back up to handle tougher ghosts especially if they carry will-o-wisp and machamp can do that in his sleep.. literally

Move Choices
Dynamic Punch- not much to say huge hit + confuse = win?
Payback - rounds out my coverage against ghosts and actually alows machamp to hit them
RestTalk - to keep my champ alive and to solve the PP issue of dynamic punch

dpmba145.png

Zapdos(Thor) @Leftovers
Bold (+Def/-Atk)
Pressure
252hp 220def 36spe
-roost
-discharge
-substitute
-hp grass

Why this pokemon?
Ok Zapdos came in to give me a defensive wall that could hit hard as well as counter my ground weakness and destroy swampert which walls the majority of my team

Move Choices
roost - provides basic recovery and allows me to stall out ice beam bliss.. ice beam doesnt break subs when zapdos roosts
discharge - used as paralasys support to help my tyranitar and mamoswine sweep as well as being able to crush gyarados
substitute - used to block status from slower walls/annoyers and to scout a switch in and maybe get a paralise off
hp grass - used solely to counter swampert

dpmba134.png

Vaporeon(Miami) @Leftovers
Bold (+Def/-Atk)
Water Absorb
188hp 252Def 64SpA
-surf
-wish
-protect
-roar

Why this pokemon?
Vaporeon is here for my teams nape and scarftran weakness and is also support with wish

Move Choices
Surf - basic stab move
wish - team support and alongside protect provides a safe recovery
protect - as stated above ^^
roar - phasing move to allow me to counter better
dpmba462.png

Magnezone(Flux) @choice scarf
Naive (+Spe/-SpD)
Magnet Pull
6hp 252SpA 252Spe
-Thunderbolt
-HP Fire
-Explosion
-Flash Cannon

Why this pokemon?
Well as I stated this team is focussed on a Mamoswine sweep and mamos biggest counters are Scizor Skarmory and Bronzong who are all countered by Magnezone save for bronzong if it is carrying Earthquake.

Move Choices
Thunderbolt - well its stab and it takes care of gyarados and skarmory
HP Fire - Counters the bug scizor and when used with choice scarf attacks faster than scizors superpower
Explosion - for when I have destroyed the opposing steels and need to get rid of Blissey or some others
Flash Cannon - Second and weaker stab but hits Tyranitar hard as well as other rock types like Rhyperior and hits other Mamoswine as well as ground types like Donphan and Hippowdon for neutral STAB damage

The King Dick:
dpmfb473.png

dpmba473.png

Mamoswine(King Dick) @Life Orb
Jolly (+Spe/-SpA)
Snow Cloak
252Atk 252Spe 6Def
-Earthquake
-Ice Shard
-Super Power
-Stone Edge

Why this pokemon?
As I stated it is the pokemon that centered my whole team around. I love Mamo for STAB ice shard to crush dragons and flyers like togekiss. The given EVs outspeeds lucario in order to OHKO with earthquake, stone edge hits gyarados and other ice types and superpower hits TTar and plenty of others for super effective damage, I pretty much took the CB set and changed it to life orb for more versatality and because Mamoswine takes SR easily and is immune to both sandstorm and actually benefits in hale I figured I could take the LO recoil.

Move Choices
Earthquake - Stab and OHKO on lucario as well as infernape switch ins and plenty of rocks and steels
Ice Shard - priority and dragon killer as well as hard stab hit
Superpower - Normal and TTar coverage
Stone Edge - Everyone knows the legendary coverage of EQ and SE and mamo handles it expertely

Nicknames:
Well I like having fun with nicknames and heres why I named my pokemon.

S-Man - well I noticed that all of my brelooms moves started with S and i chuckled to myself and just threw on S-Man

Dozer - Named Machamp this because it is what he is.. he sleeps and hes like a bulldozer with his attacks hitting slow but powerful

Thor - the God of lightning is there a better name for the legendary bird of lightning??

Miami - because vaporeon reminds me of the beach =P

Flux - Whenever I see Magnezone I think of physics so why not name him Flux

King Dick - Mamo is simply THE KING DICK

The Short Comings:
-The team is generaly slow but the two scarfers and the para hax from zapdos and the priority of ice shard try to eliminate that fall.
-Hard to counter a few DD users if some pkmn are knocked out
-I dont really know what else which is why im posting to begin with =P

the team looks pretty good and you've stated your weaknesses in the threats, although not many outside of DD users and you have Ice Shard on King Dick (lol at the name, hallarious). the only thing I truely question is Hidden Power on Zapdos, I usually run Hidden Power Ice for psuedo bolt-beam or heat wave for scizor, who your riskishly countering with magnezone. I see how you want it to counter swampert but with most being used as leads doesn't breloom's stab grass do that job better?

Infernape: Zapdos, Mamoswine
You have a massive Infernape weakness, no one of your pokemons can
switch into life orb'd fire blasts (barring TTar, which is ohko'd by CC).
Neither Zapdos nor Mamo can counter Infernape, they're both slower than Ape and Mamo is also weak to both its stab attacks, while your Zapdos takes 62.76% - 73.70% from a naive Ape's LO fire blast (which is a sure 2hko, and a slim chance of ohko with SR and sandstorm damage).

Heatran: Machamp, Breloom and Mamo can revenge kill or kill on the switch in respectively.
Scarf-Heatran is another problematic pokemon for your team, it outspeeds and ohko's both Breelom and Mamo, while Machamp is 2hko'd by fire blast, so it will rarely be able to revege kill Tran. You can switch in TTar, but with no leftovers recovery it will be soon weakened enough to be finished by an earth power.

You need a counter for both of these pokemons, my suggestion is Vaporeon, which could replace TTar in my opinion, so:

Vaporeon@leftovers
nature: bold
EVs: 188 hp\ 252 def\ 68 sp.atk
-wish
-protect
-surf
-hp electric\ roar

This pokemon checks both Ape and Tran, and provides an useful immunity to water attacks. Wish can be useful to keep your Mamo, Breloom and Magnezone healthy because they can all switch into electric attacks directed at Vaporeon (Breloom and Magnezone can also switch into grass attacks, just beware of Celebi's thunder waves).
Hp electric is an insurance against Gyarados (offensive variant can ohko your Zapdos with a DD stone edge), while roar pseudo hazes stat up pokemons like Suicune and co.

Oh, and since your team lacks stealth rock, which is almost a must have on every team, I suggest to replace Superpower on Mamo (EQ already ohkos TTar) with SR cause you will have plenty of opportunities to set them up during all the switches that Mamo can force.

Hope this helps.

Agreed with what Haunter said, although a Latias could also work pretty well in Tyranitar's place, either of the Calm Mind+Recover sets can deal with MixApe and ScarfTran well, as well as serving as a decent Jolteon check (although watch out for Shadow Ball).

Ever tried Guts Machamp? His attack power goes way high when asleep, maybe that would help a little...

I don't think your Tyranitar does well on this team...change it for something that can lay stealth rocks. Midgame SR's are always annoying (xD) and you can get other form of residual damage.

Guts Machamp loses No Guard and therefore the ability to use (effectively) Dynamicpunch, meaning he'd have to stick with CC that is less powerful and doesn't cause the Confusion problems that Dynamicpunch does.

I do agree though, Tyranitar is out of place and it really isn't a counter to Jolteon. Swapping out Breloom to a different set and using Aerodactyl as a lead (and not suicide him) would allow you SR, someone that could Revenge Kill Jolteon (If you win the speed tie, if you lose it and still have the Sash intact, you'll OHKO with EQ.). It also checks Infernape to the extent it outspeeds and OHKOs with EQ in addition to resisting everything unless it carries HP Ice.

Just to say that close combat is more powerful than dynamic punch 120>100, though dynamic punch is preferred because of the 100% confusion rate.

Also, Aerodactyl is always supposed to be a suicide lead when it leads a team. Every experienced player is likely going to attack it predicting a fast taunt and that means that it will not be able to come in later to revenge things (especially considering its SR weakness and only average defences).

While running through possible answers to that scenario, I found one other thing:

He has a huge Azelf weakness. Any sweeper variant would tear through this team after a NP. That said, a conservative Aero would be a good addition to the team.

Though most Azelf are suicide lead nowadays, yeah, he has not a safe switch into non lead Azelf, though Breloom can outspeed and spore it or hit for up to 71.82% with its stab seed bomb. Definitely yes, Azelf may be a problem, but it can't switch in (unless it predicts an EQ from Mamo) or set up on any of his pokemons.
