Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Weird, it was always 2 for me o.o
Maybe it's the same as Cresselia, when Mesprit is roaming, the base offset is +1.

That may be it, so if you can test your offset on a different legendary, that would help. Also, where you looking at the offset of the Initial Seed or the generated list?

Ok, there's not much in the OP about this, but, I know Negator, TheTorsoBoy, Syberia, destroyer, and a few others have figured out Method J, and how to do it. I don't really understand how to do it, as there's not much information in the OP about it. This is what I was aiming to get:

dpmfa482.png

Timid
31/3/30/30/30/30
Hidden Power: Fighting 70
Offset: 1183
Seed: 4313029A
PID: 4DA44843

How do I go about searching for the time, and a decent Offset, or, does the offset always have to be the same? I'm not really understanding how to do this. Anyone that can give me a little help?
Uh? I undestand everything barring platinum thing...
I've just made some attempt (successful) with the egg thing, but I never tryed the new Legend thing, I'm lacking information too, mostly because I don't get what Offset mean, as well as if you need to find your seed BEFORE using the Time Finder or if that is irrelevant...
Plus, I'm trying to apply that things to wild pkm, but I need to talk with mingot/jonny/syberia before going on, I'm too confused :/

Now that I have the ID and SID for my platinum games, I want to make a go at it for a showdown competitive heatran. While I am not so clear as to what is involved, I believe if I go to stark mountain and catch a few wild pokemon and note of their IVs that that can help better determine how I'd go about my quest. I'll definitely need further review possibly later tonight so I have a clearer idea on how to use my platinum with the RNG reporter and all.

Offset is the frame of the pokemon. I don't see what you mean by finding your seed for the legendarys. What you need to do is know your range of delays you can get often, like 600-610 of 620-630. If you're gonna do it with wild pokemon, just save in the patch of grass and sweeet scent and look for spreads that have an offset of 1. The info on walking advancing the seed isn't concrete fact yet. Not enough people have tested it.

Deleted my test results because I did it before J method was on RNG reporter.

I need to know 'bout the second thing mostly.

About offsets, I think it's nature related.

Use the initial seed finder in RNG Reporter for a start.

Quick question, if what we suspect about the seed being advanced by 1 point for every step the character takes is true, does the seed also advance by one for every uncontrollable step the character takes, i.e. at Spear Pillar when the game steers you towards Dialga/Palkia?

Good question, not sure. It's only one RNG call per step when you are walking in a place where wild Pokemon can attack you, though.

Calibration results so far:

Time: 20:25 Delay: 649 Seconds: 0 Offset: 99
Time: 20:34 Delay: 636 Seconds: 14 Offset: 71
Time: 20:42 Delay: 660 Seconds: 15 Offset: 371
Time: 20:59 Delay: 645 Seconds: 14 Offset: 66
Time: 21:15 Delay: 654 Seconds: 15 Offset: 25
Time: 21:25 Delay: 626 Seconds: 14 Offset: 135
Time: 21:36 Delay: 632 Seconds: 14 Offset: 58

How many times do I need to do this before I can get a decent Delay average??
And I still don't understand the whole offset thing.

I've spent over an hour getting a fraction of the results i need.. how long is this meant to take?

It's not meant to take any particular time, but doing the calibration is time consuming and difficult, sorry about that, but it is.

Your delay range is horribly inconsistent, though. If you can't button mash from reset to continue consistently enough to get a delay that is always within about 10 you might not want to bother at all.

Are we meant to try all the offsets between 1 and 6??

They are talking about legends. Very different than resetting for IVs.

You don't seem to understand the offset, and it's a bit confusing but the thing is the offset is generally going to be a random number between 1 and 6 when you get eggs. You can usually lock it to a certain value by re-saving your game and then checking the offset of an egg. Please note that the offset of your egg has NOTHING to do with the offset value you will see in the seed finder. Ever.

It was 2 for Heatran aswell.
And I generated method J spreads using my initial seed, I didn't look at the one the Seed Finder gave me.

If you're walking in a place where wild Pokemon can be encountered, does using a repel to prevent this also stop the Seed from advancing?

Also, I'm using the RNG reporter, and I just got a message when finding my initial seed that says "No reasonable initial seed found. Please check your DATE and TIME." despite the fact I used today's date and the time as 13:50...

It only checks up to a certain delay or offset. That may be the problem if you are doing it.

Walking into a patch of grass = +4
Turning and walking = +2
Just walking = +1
Turn but no walking = +2
The last one should be only +1 but I don't know.

now I've even more doubt
*Mingot is waited on MsN for helps* xD

Darkrai's Offset WITH a Synchronizer AND WITH a ROAMING Pokemon (in my case Cresselia) is 2. I tried it a few times, and it's 2 the whole time.

Ok, so having a pokemon running increase the offset by 1. I guess that makes sense because when you turn on your game, it uses it to generate where it will go.

Ok, and I think that when you set a roaming pokémon free it changes the delay from odd to even and vice verse

For me, saving helps me switch delays.

@LF: Thanks, so when I want a shiny, I'll choose a synch nature and then generate shiny spreads? And then I just SR for it with my syncher in front?

Yeah, and remember when you are going for an offset, that yours is +1 thanks to mespirit roaming already.
