mah sciz0r iz Speshal

After being away from pokemon for about 8 months, I started lurking here recently to update my knowledge. This team consists of fairly standard sets, with the exception of 1; Scizor. As the titel says, it's speshal, which does not imply it's special based. It's just odd ^^.

The main strategy is to have 3 walls/tanks, 2 (right-off-the-bat) offensive pokes, and 1 set-upper, which gives some sort of balance between steady defense and hard hitting offense. Here's the team at a glance;

Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd, 252 Attack, 4 HP
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- U-turn
- Outrage

Leads, scouts, revenge kills if possible. Sandstorm resist, SR resist, and electric resist (~Slowking) is enough for it to earn its spot, I'd say.

Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Roar
- Earthquake

Does all the things I want a physical wall to do. The only downside to this thing is its lack of an ice move, which leaves him unable to hit flyers/levitaters. I chose the 252/252 spread because I think ice beam TTar isn't common enough to sacrifice some extra bulk. It can handle physical TTar well, except for Aqua Tail ones. Fortunately Machamp handles TTar decently.

Heatran (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 8 HP/248 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Dragon Pulse

Heatran is mainly here to absorb fire (and ice aimed at Hippowdown), while blazing the opponent to ashes. With Flash Fire activated it might 2HKO blissey, which pleases me immensely. HP Grass for Swamperts and other bulky waters.

Scizor (M) @ Salac Berry
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break

Still keeping this original set, unless the Sdef version is absolutely necessary.

Now, there are two good combinations to wall bulky waters, fight moves, special moves, and dish out some heavy physical damage. I prefer the first one for being a little more original, yet status will spread through my team like the plague =/

Slowbro + CB Ttar *lacks status absorber*

Slowbro (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 212 HP/44 Satk/252 Def
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Slack Off
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Surf
Changed to Slowbro, for physical walling purposes. I like the fact that it adds status, provides a fight resist, and beats Gyarados. However, two major turndowns are its electric weak and the ever so prevalent pursuit on TTar/Scizor. I opted to leave ice beam out since Mence is crippled harshly by thunder wave.

Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Earthquake

Heavy hitter and offers some special walling. Aqua tail is redundant due to Ttar being paired with Slowbro.

Blissey + SD Celebi

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Def/40 SAtk/216 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave

Standard Wishbliss I suppose. Heatran, Flygon, and (the current) Scizor lack a recovery move, so Wish is greatly appreciated.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/46 Atk/176 Def/36 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Recover
- Swords Dance
- Seed Bomb
- Zen Headbutt

Celebi walls fighting moves and Gyarados, while providing some physical offense. If I go for this, I might change Scizor into a generic CB Scizor. The speed Evs are to outspeed max speed jolly Ttar, while the rest provides some physical bulk.

Sorry for the long read, any and all (constructive) comments are appreciated ^^.

words like secksy instead of sexy and Mah, Sciz0r, iz and speshal are generally frowned upon in this community. Spell your words out right or don't bother, please! It's irritating to read for those of us that are actually looking with interest.

I just read this rmt and I must say that your complaining is not justified. His whole rmt is very easy to read and obvious, a bit short but long enough for my taste. So only his title is a bit weird. Who cares?? I've seen alot of weird titles in the rate my team forum lately. Titles are there to draw someones attention.
Instead of complaining you should give him some good comments on where to improve his team.

The funny thing is he cant change the title >_< but seriously dont do this sort of thing in future it doesnt send out the right signals to the members here whereas a display of intelligence is praised and appreciated. Anyway, welcome to our communtity Id like to congratulate you on a team that is actually pretty good.

Ok first im just gonna fix some spreads which i find are genearally not best advised in the current metagame. First up Flygon. on Flygon just max Speed. 80hp doesnt do much but the increase in speed is useful for two reasons; you outspeed agility empoleon and standard agiliGross secondly you at least speed tie with other base 100s that have a scarf and run maxspeed eg Jirachi, mence and other Flygon.

Hippowdon is fine it fixes your Lucario but funnily enough sets up SR the bane of Zapdos and roars it away.

Just run Slowbro instead of Slowking the metagame is physically oriented for a reason. Same moves but run bold instead and a put evs in Defense.

Machamp is performing a similar role to Hippowdon atm countering Tyranitar, other than that in this metagame it can often be set up bait. I would consider running a Blissey or a CB Tyranitar in this slot. Both eat Zapdos for breakfast the former sponges status whilst the latter keeps you on the offensive and still has excellent sp.def, ultimiately its you choice. If it were me id go with CB ttar. This is your main special wall.

Heatran just needs a slight fix run Overheat over HP Grass. Dragon pulse and Earth power provides you with all the coverage you will need. And overheat is sensationally powerful.

On scizor i would suggest you run this more specially bulky oriented spread so you have a good switch into bulky waters but retain the power to sweeping. Secondary special wall.

176hp/176sp.def / 76atk/4 spe
Adamant
leftovers

SD
Bullet Punch
Brick Break
Roost

This can easily get +6 against the majority of bulky water and with both Heatran and Zapdos out the picture due to Slowbro and TTar respectively you should easily be able to sweep. 4spe
allows you to outspeed Vaporeon.

You should be aware that currently you have a slight weakness to Offensive CM suicune but you should be able to wear it down so that Flygon can revenge kill. Flygon is the crux of this team so dont let it die as it performs most of your revenge killing.

Hope this helped.

My apologies for the title and other 'intarweb' words, I'll remember not to use them again ^^.
Thank you iKitsune for the useful advice. I appreciate it very much, but I do have some qualms with it.
My first concern is whether CB Ttar and Scizor (with that spread you mentioned) are able to fulfill the role of a special sponge. In addition, it leaves me without a way to take status. I do really like CB Ttar for being absurdly powerful, but its sp.defensive capacity might be lacking.

I could use Blissey instead of Machamp and replace Slowbro with something able to wall both fighting moves and Gyarados, while keeping some physical power(SD Celebi comes to mind....).

The Scizor spread you posted is useful mainly to complement CB TTar's special walling, yet it means I can't use my original Scizor anymore, which hurts.
Overheat doesn't appeal to me; the small 1st turn power difference (compared to Fire Blast) is less valuable than HP Grass, which deals with Swampert/bulky waters, in my opinion.

Anyway, I'll use max speed Flygon and Slowbro. I'm expecting both will improve the team. As for the special defense bit, I'll do some testing with two possible combinations; Slowbro+CB TTar, and Blissey+SD Celebi.

Actually, CB Tar takes special hits very well, just don't let him take repeated Hidden Power Grasses/ Aura Spheres. It can be EVed to take these special hits, and due to Sandstorm, its special defense reaches 354 without any investment.

IKitsune is right, Flygon is EXTREMELY important for this team. I would consider giving it wish support, seeing as if it dies, Empoleon ruins this team.
Blissey can provide the Wish support should you take my advice.

Nice, team, hope I helped!

I wouldnt run SD celebi. It will lose to many common threats and will generally just feel like dead weight.

TTar has excellent Sp.Def due to the fact that rock types in a sand storm get their sp.def boosted by 50%. I would strongly recommend either Blissey or TTar. SD Celebi just wont work, it wont even counter Gyarados well and will leave you vulnerable to Infernape.

There is a solution to your problems make TTar into a rest, Sleep Talk, curse, Payback/Crunch variant. 252hp 252sp.def. This makes the most of TTars excellent sp.def but it can also remain on the offensive by boosting its monstrous attack with curse. This or Blissey really is the best option in that slot Blissey works well synergy wise and of course wish is helpful but TTar is really the more threatening prospect for the opponent.

Good Luck.
