Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Ok, I was attempting to breed for IVs, but messed something up.
So I went back to switch the date to the 15th, and then switched it back to the 17th.
BIG PROBLEM.
Now I can't get the Intial Seed from my Platinum!!!!
Anyway to fix this?
Or did I screw myself over permenately?
I hope I didn't...
 
There should be no reason you can't get the initial seed from Platinum. Just try to catch a high level Pokemon (45+ ideally) and then use it to check your seed via RNG Reporter's Seed Finder. Just make sure you know the exact time of your DS the moment you press continue.
 
Okay, after "practicing" different finger paces and figuring out a pattern that often lands me on 15/609, I SRed for Ditto, and got the coin flips to match THE VERY FIRST TIME! Just so I don't mess this up, I closed my DS and wanted to check in with you all to make sure I do this next part right:

I'm looking for frame 93. I have no roaming legends. I do the following to advance the RNG:
1) Take 1 step.
2) Open/flip the journal enough to get my "Caught a _______" page to appear 45 times.
3) Use Sweet Scent.

1 (step) + 2*45 (journal) + 2 (Sweet Scent) = 93

What if I get a wild encounter on my one step? If I use a Repel before I take my step, it won't affect my RNG, and I will still be able to get an encounter using Sweet Scent, right?

I don't know if i have read it correctly, but
1 + 2*41 + 2 = 85, not 93 =/
Also
- Sweet Scenting in the grass / caves advance the RNG by 7 seeds. This is includes the calls to generate the monster and the effects of the battle.

Ok then.
That's really bizzare.
It's probably just me though.
I'll try it when I've got some time and letcha know if it worked or not.
 
Misdreavus, you did the math wrong. you'd do 1 step, and 45 journal flips, then sweet scent. Using a repel won't affect the RNG and you'll still be able to get the encounter.

I GOT A... STARAVIA?! NOOOO! I must have counted something wrong. When I took my step, I accidentally turned while taking it for an extra RNG advancement, so I took one more for a total of 3 RNG advances, flipped at the catch page what I thought was 44 times (it being on the opening page counts as 1, right?), then SS for what should have been frame 93 (3 + 2*44 + 2 = 93) and the flawless Modest Ditto I wanted.

Even though I only had to flip the journal less than 50 times, it was pretty monotonous, so I'm guessing I lost count during that part (first time ever with this RNG).

Does it matter that I let my DS sit for about 45 minutes (part of the time open, part of the time closed) after verifying my coin flips before I actually advanced the RNG? As far as I know, it wouldn't, since there are no NPCs in the Trophy Garden.
 
It being on the opening page doesn't count as anything I'm pretty sure - it's just if you FLIP to one it counts as two.

Time doesn't matter if there are no NPCs around Misdreavus.
Or perhaps you lost count?
 
Yeah that's fine :P. I'm thinking of trying to start trying to RNG abuse for good Egg IVs, but it's just too damn hard for me. Iunno, I might try it.

Good luck getting that Ditto Misdreavus!
 
- Opening the Journal, or having it automatically open, when there is a caught or defeated Pokémon on the first page advances the RNG by 2 seeds. There are a number of formats for the caught Pokémon text. Those listed below have been verified to advance the RNG.

'Caught a female BIDOOF.'
'Caught AZELF (LATE NIGHT).'
'UXIE was caught (DAY).'
'Defeated a male BIDOOF.'

- Flipping to the page in the journal where a caught or defeated Pokémon is listed advances the RNG by 2 seeds. The same message formats listed above will advance the RNG.

Okay, that was my original understanding. So I'll take 1 step without turning, open the journal where the opening page says "Caught a female ROSELIA," flip away from that page (to another that doesn't have catch/defeat info) and back to it 44 times, then SS for my Ditto.

Or you could just turn with your character to any side, and that'll advance your seed by 1. You don't even have to walk.
 
Misdreavus, as I said in my previous post i got my flueless Ditto doing exactly what you wrote 5 pages ago.
Going 1 step into the grass, opening the journal (no pokemon caught on the first age) then fliping 45 times on page with a caught pokemon and then finally using sweet scent.

So now i'm hatching a perfect poke and i hav a question about the Dppt time finder. The spread found with it are only for my ID/SID or will they work with any game ?
It could be useful since i found 3 different spread with my delay/frame/second. Two with 3 "A" IV and two other flawless IV that work for special or physical spread and another with flawless IV but only with 2 A and 1 B IV.
 
Your SID affects which spreads are shiny. Your ID is exclusive for your game only. Since you have a different SID on a different game, I'm almost positive you won't be able to use it.
 
I GOT IT! I now have a fully flawless Modest Ditto (nicknamed "SuperDitto") in a Premier Ball from January 8th, 2040! :)

Good job Misdreavus, you can now enjoy the hell of breeding !

I have just realised something about breeding. If i got the good seed, i still need to hatch then save before checking my IV if do not want to loose all my rare candy.
So if i'm one frame off, like i'm now, it means i must restart the breeding from scratch.
The good thing is i got my seed on the first try...

Chaos669, riddlinkid... you're confusing me here ^^;
 
@Bartok: Yeah, that's the one problem w/ breeding. If you have an AR, then you can just clone the egg before hatching one and check the IV's of one while leaving the other unhatched. Atleast, I think that's what your asking.

Shiny was never mentioned, so it is possible to get that spread on any game as all non shiny spreads are universal.
