I'm not even sure if this type of question belongs here, but here I go...

What happened to Tangrowth? Tangrowth was OU and fairly common in the beginning, but his usage gradually went down. When Platinum rolled around, I'm pretty sure that Zapdos learning Heat wave and Rotom-H hurt Tangrowth. I don't know if Tangrowth was ever BL at one point, but since the BL and UU combination, I thought Tangrowth would go to UU. I was extremely shocked to find Tangrowth sitting in the never-used tier. What's wrong with Tangrowth? NU is for the Pokemon who usually have 1 extremely bad quality (Slaking, Regigigas) or Pokemon who just can't function anywhere else.
I'm not complaining about the tier list, I'm just wondering what made the decision for Tangrowth to be NU. He seems like a totally viable Pokemon.

And I guess that is another question: the current NU list is tentative, right?

Don't over think it, there is nothing wrong with Tangrowth. He's very usable. He's just NU because he is simply that, never used. His Special Defense stat also hurts him alot, and sunny day is hard to use in OU since pokemon like Tyranitar and Abomasnow run rampant.

That's just it. I can't figure out why people don't use him. If there's nothing wrong with him, why is he neglected? I know his special defense is shitty, but I wasn't implying that he should be OU.
I don't know what I'm trying to say. I'm just a little shocked at how unused he is. I guess I should just use Tangrowth myself and raise his usage. :toast:

First off, the bold is wrong. NU pokemon are those that simply aren't used enough to make UU. It has nothing to do with what a Pokemon can do. You'll find plenty of decent pokemon in NU; Porygon2 was just 2 usages away from NU himself and many people praise him for his OU capabilities. And since I'm on the subject, to your final question, yes. It'll change everytime OU and UU change, as well as having overpowered pokemon banned when Smogon has the resources to actually develope the NU tier.

Anyways, about Tangrowth: it was never actually used all that often, as shown by the Shoddy Battle trend grapher (capping at 51, which might be on the border OU), while on Smogon stats it has never been higher than 63 in Usage. Generally Celebi is better at "bulky grass-type" role. Instant recovery is a big factor, as well as the nice speed/special defense. Thunderwave works better than Stun Spore because Ground types have no business with Grass types. The lack of sleep is a bummer but the precense sleep itself has declined a lot.

ever since garchomp became uber i have started to wonder who are/is the invisble god/s of pokemon that create this tier listing that we follow (is there like a specific site/ bunch people from different site/ or something else or is it base on shoddy)?

I have little knowledge of the games on DS\any handheld, why are some pokemon especially with hidden powers only legal with some IV sets? Isnt heatran for instance available wild(once) in DPP? If its a random IVed poke shouldnt they all be legal?

Esspecialy ubers, how is any IV unobtainable?

Qualified voters. OU is compiled on usage, so in a sense everyone contributes to that tier list.

Pokemon you have to "talk" to have their IVs set by a different method than randomly encountered pokemon. The restrictions exist in this other method.

Can only Lugia learn Aeroblast?

Smeargle! Otherwise yeah.

okay, heres a not so simple question: if I were to want to reach at least #40 on the standard leaderboard by the end of summer, and were to play about 1-2 hours of shoddy a day, about what percent of my battles would I have to win?

I'd say at least 4/5.

can anyone else think of a fourth turtle pokemon?

I have donny the blastoise, raphael the torterra, and mikey the torkoal, but I can think of another turtle pokemon for Leo.

And yes I am making a ninja turtles themed team..

How could you forget Shuckle... :(

excellent. cause im averaging about 4/5 with my new team, and that's before improvements and an RMT. Look out, I shall conquer!

Bulbapedia's Login page doesn't have the Create A New Account button, so can anyone who already has an account ask someone there how I can make an account. Thanks.

Of course uber stall exists, it's just not as common as offensive teams. This is a fairly stallish team, and something along the lines of Groudon/Latias/Blissey/Giratina-O/Forretress/ScarfChomp would probably work fairly well.

Where can I find the Old Rod in Platinum?

East of Canalave city in the building underpass.
EDIT: The one directly west of Jublife, actually. There's a fisherman there.

Question:
What can I do with a Jolly Jirachi with 5/1/6/29/31/31? Anything besides let it sit in my box?

I'd say at least 4/5.

Shuckle is a barnacle. There is no fourth tortoise Pokemon, unfortunately. I guess Shelgon is kind of close though? Find a rat for Splinter and use Zangoose for Shredder.
