Team: Walmart [OU] RMT

Hi everybody, I just joined Smogon! I've been browsing smogon for a few months, and i finally got internet on my computer, so I thought, "well, I might as well join shoddy while i'm at it!" I made this team and has had reasonable success, but it's not perfect. That's where you guys come in! So the name Walmart...I really dont know. Ran out of ideas, and this team kinda has everything. So here i go!

Team at a glance:

Crobat @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 124 HP/132 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Taunt
- U-turn
- Roost

At first I was kinda sceptical on a crobat lead. It was actually suggested to me from a battler on shoddy, and i thought, eh what the heck. I was pleasantly surprised! It works wonders on fake out leads due to inner focus, taunts slow...and well even fast leads, u-turn for scouting and Brave Bird for infernape and breloom for the OHKO. Leftovers for a reliable, well kinda source of recovery from heavy stealth rock damage if i switch it back in.

Gyarados @ Liechi Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce

SubBounce gyra. I am in love with this set. Come in on something that doesnt like gyrados (for example metagross or heatran) and get a sub up. Dragon dance until the sub breaks, rinse and repeat until liechi comes in. Then, prepare to sweep. I dont have any calculations, but this gyrados has swept entire teams. It has enough power to take over anything, well, genrally at least.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/68 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Electric]

I needed some general bulk on my team, and it came down to suicune or vapy. I find suicune not as good because of a lack of recovery move, and i love wish cause it can heal anybody, so vaporeon it was. Protect + Wish scouts and heals, Hidden Power Electric is great because my team is somewhat DD Gyrados weak but vapy is a great counter, but im thinking about switching it out for toxic. It just seems to be a better choice if it comes to stalling.

dpmfa145.png

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP/36 Spd/224 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Grass]

So with vaporeon's physical bulk i figured i needed some special bulk, and some power too. Then i stumbled upon zapdos. I run the specially bulky set and with good signs. Thunderbolt for a general but powerful STAB, Heat Wave is great for all the steels and bugs running around, and HP grass because of swampert. Roost is a great recovery move, but gotta be careful when i roost while i'm facing a rhyperior locked into earthquake... >.> (i.e. my most embarasing moment on shoddy ever)

dpffa380.png

Latias @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
-Draco Meteor
-Surf
-Dragon Pulse
-Trick

Wow, Latias really works wonders. She is fast enough to outspeed DD Mences which can be a problem for this team, and causes major damage with the rest of her moves. Anybody whose played her knows how she plays, no really need for explanation.
dpmfa094.png

Gengar @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Fire]

And the speedy little beast. This is my main counter for all the new rotom forms that it seems every team has. Sub if i see a will o wisp comming, or just attack if not. Shadow Ball will badly hurt anything even walls due to its SDef drop sometimes. Focus Blast for heatran and tyranitar. HP fire for any steels not named scizor cause bullet punch will OHKO.

So that's my team. I know some of you are thinking, hey, he got all of his movesets off smogon... Well, they're on there for a reason, they actaually work! The only problems i have seen for this team is that it has no priority moves and it is kinda DD Gyrados weak.... Thanks in advance for any suggestions you guys have!

Is Wide Lens worth it for a small increase on hypnosis? I'd change that to leftovers so you can continually come in and heal without roost and if SR got up.

That might be a good idea. SR does ruin crobat, and it is just a small increase... I might change that. Thanks Gorgoroth!
Replace Hypnosis with Roost and Aerial Ace with Brave Bird, it'll score OHKOs on the pokes you mentioned, and Roost allows him to come in later.

I'm no expert rater, but I'll try my hand at it right here.

First I'm going to suggest that you replace Aerial Ace on Crobat to Brave Bird, and Roost to replace Hypnosis. Brave Bird is OHKO on Breloom, period. It also will OHKO Infernape, who you outspeed, and will do considerably more than to Machamp. Roost is the definition of consistancy whereas Hypnosis is sitting at barely a half and half chance of working. It would also allow you to switch in far more if someone does manage to get rocks up. Also allows you to roost off Brave Bird damage.

You could put HP Electric on Vaporeon if you feel you have a DD Gyarados problem, but that makes you pretty weak to Salamence... Which brings me to...

Flygon. After one DD, a positive nature Salamence is guaranteed to outspeed Flygon. Neutral natured Salamences with 180 or more speed EV's are going to outrun Flygon after a DD. Almost all Salamences with DD fall into one of these catagories. My suggestion is to replace Flygon with Scarf Latias. Timid Latias outruns all variants of Mence after one DD and even after 2 DD's, Gyarados can't outrun her. In the meanwhile, Latias OHKO's with Dragon Pulse/Meteor and Thunderbolt. You also get to maintain the ever useful Levitate.

Thats all I can really think of, hope some of that stuff helps, Good Luck!

Hey everyone, thanks for all of your advice! Yeah, I agree Brave Bird is probably a better attack over Aerial Ace, but as a lead I've found Hypnosis is infinintely helpful. I'll test that. On vapy, thanks midniiight i think i might change that. If I do put on latias, (i dont think i've ever seen her scarfed lol) It does seem like a better choice over flygon. I'm just thinking do I have enough physical attackers? Crobat just serves a certain purpose as a lead and gyrados needs to set up. Flygon was my sure shot physical sweeper, so losing that to another special sweeper... I dont know i think it just unbalances my team...But it does seem like a good idea.

Edit: okay, i looked up the choice scarf set on latias, and i have one question. Is trick necessary? I know it's a great move and it could probably help but for this set i think it might be better to have both dragon pulse and thunderbolt and take out trick. I need ur guy's opinion. Thanks.

Just a quick point, its never good having three members of your team weak to stealth rock. You might want to switch Vap to support Starmie

Starmie@Leftovers
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
136HP/156DEF/216SPE
Timid Nature

That's true, but I like vapy also because he can heal my other members of my team. However starmie does cover Gyrados and has rapid spin. Can I have some other opinions on this?

To be honest, you don't need Rapid Spin support. 2/3 of your pokemon weak to SR have a reliable recovery move in Roost, and Gyarados should be paired with Wish Support given by your Vaporeon, that way he can come in more than once if he needs to switch out. Wish from Vaporeon can also help out your Gengar, who is losing it's own HP to sub. As well as spending a turn to spin and get rid of the rocks can provide a turn for your opponent to set up on you, putting you one turn down. I don't see too many advantages to having Starmie>Vaporeon.

I agree, I think vapy does a good enough job at what he does. I went back on shoddy and has had great success with this team with the crobat and vapy changes. Right now, it seems the weakest link is Flygon. I really need some help here. Do I put in the scarf latias as mentioned earlier, or something that can stop Blissey who seems to be walling me? I'm actually thinking a scarf Breloom not in detail but something like this:
Breloom @ Choice Scarf
max speed and attack
-seed bomb
-superpower
-spore
-stone edge

or maybe swords dance? But I need a fast poke to take DD mence so scarf?

Just FYI, and you might know this already but your first post is a little confusing, you can't use Brave Bird and Hypnosis together on Crobat. Anyway, cool team. I love Crobat.

Thanks WOLFY, I actually didnt know that. :) Yeah I ultimately decided roost, it does work wonders. I still really need help with the flygon / latias situation. Any adivice would be really appreciated.

I like your team. Really do. YOu dont have a Gyara weak. Barring Porygon 2, Vappy is the best Gyara counter in the game. I dont see any major weak.

About the Latias/Flygon decision, i would go with Latias. More speed, more raw power, less counterable... the only lack is U-Turn, which is really helpful. Try both and tell us which one worked better =]

Thanks to everyone who helped contribute to this team, the corrections and the praises, so keep the posts comming! Currently on shoddy i am 7-0, one battle of which i am going to warstory. We were both down to our last poke which both happened to be SubBounce Gyras and I won with 1% HP O_O. Anyway, by no means stop, keep posting and I'll keep listening!

You do realize you just gave away the ending to your "intense" warstory.

It'll be a big hit, I can tell.

ummm yea thanks Pokerade....darn. Well I just posted that warstory in Stark Mountain and I want everybody to read it! :P lol well i hope u guys enjoy it even tho u know the ending!!!

A timid latias with choice specs is better, thunder bolt can be used over dragon pulse or dracco metoer, with the specs you won't need dracco meteor's extra power, or you can still use lati after the special atk drop from dracco meteor. Thunderbolt also means that your vaporeon can switch hiden power electric to toxic or yawn.

Leftovers on gengar? just a point it also breaks the item clause along with all your other leftovers, and he is great for a choice scarf to kill choice scarf heatran, choice scarf anything and other gengar and anything really, gengar is the fastest pokemon who comonly uses a choice scarf, so you would then be abble to outspeed anything not priority and bullet OHKO's anyway. Then you could switch his nature to modest to get the extra OHKO'S.

Read the original post. Latias is specifically for taking care of DD mences and also does a good job taking out Heatrans locked into anything barring dragon pulse which is pretty uncommon. Vaporeon runs HP Electric because he is my main Gyarados counter and really needs it. Gengar needs the recovery because it's only other options is vaporeon wishing. Gengar also serves the purpose of being my Rotom check which seems to be plauguing the metagame. Sub on the WoW or TWave, and proceed to kill with shadow ball. And item clause is only used in very isolated cases.
