Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Taps in poketch application also works to advance RNG to catch perfect pokemonsor the only thing that works is flip the pages of the journal?

More about hatching eggs...

So if I get a frame of 3, and my target is 6, to achieve that, would making one of the NPC move to advance the frame by 1, and with a journal flip to a captured Pokemon page work out?

Sorry that my sentence sucked. Deep night time here.

No, you can't do happiness taps to advance the RNG. Taps increase the IRNG, which is used on things like the nature, gender, and shinyness of the egg.
@Zog: Just do the page flips. There's only 16 of them for you to do, so you shouldn't lose count. It'll be alot faster than taking over 1000 steps.

Yes, you can do that, but I suggest looking for a spread that works that is an interval of 2 over it, so that you can just do the page flips. If not, you may have it so 2 people take a step at the same time or something.

Alright quick question:

I'm trying to SR for a Zapdos and I have a certain spread I am trying to hit (All the IVs are 27+ :D) When is the spread for Zapdos generated? Is it after you recieve the National Dex or is it when you talk to Prof. Oak and he tells you a Zapdos has appeared? (If it still needs to be researched, I will gladly help out)

It's when you speak to Professor Oak that all the bird's IV's and natures are generated.

I have three quick questions:
1. What if the encounter rate is 50% for a pokemon, which slot do you use?
2. Let's say I hit a consistent frame 3 for one of my eggs, but the spread I wanted was in frame 17 (just an example), would I flip the journal seven times, or could I just flip the coin 14 times?
3.What's the point of opening your journal for the frame calibration phase? Wouldn't that mess up your frame number?

1. Not sure of this myself

2. You'd want to flip the journal seven times.

3. It would advance it by two, but if it consistently does it, you can account for that in frame calibration. It also prevents NPC's from moving and screwing up your frame.

Why couldn't you just flip the coin? And how does the journal prevent the NPC's from moving?(to advance your frame)

1. You use one of the lists provided for you that lists the slots. Either upokecenter or the list syberia uploaded. Go to the area you plan on being and check for the pokemons number and find out which slot it is in.

Flipping the coins will allow the NPCs to move while you are flipping the coin and then grabbing the egg, so it would be inconsistent. The journal will be up and you will be able to advance and take egg without extra NPC movement.

Hey sort of a big thing here --

Flipping the coin does NOT advance the frame for the RNG that generates IVs for eggs. They are never interchangeable. Replacing x coin flips with x journal flips will never work in any context. One advances the IRNG, which is used exclusively for generating egg PIDs (controls nature, gender, ability, shine) and the other advances the normal RNG (controls IVs on eggs, PIDs on captured monsters, and IVs on captured monsters).

And the journal prevents NPCs from moving because when it is being displayed NPCs don't move. So basically, that is how the game was programmed.

Mingot, do you know what slot Gligar is?

I'm interested in seeing how it changes from Morning to night- since one is 10%, the other is 20%, it'd probably be in one of the 10% slots (or 2 of them in the morning)?

Just taking a quick glance over the tables that Syberia uploaded, it's slot 8 and 9 for Diamond/Pearl.

On another note, I have made and uploaded a video for doing the delay/seconds calibration phase. It can be viewed here:

Bearsfan, it's awesome how you're making videos to help out all the newcomers to RNG. It makes it a lot easier for them, and cuts down the question load. We appreciate it ^^).

Asking here for confirmation. (It's about shinyfinder)

If to get a shiny gligar I get my seed at 8:13, should I try to hit continue at 8:13? or at 8:13:13 (my target time) ?

You want to enter game world at the target time. So if the target time is 8:13:13, and you take 13 second going through the intro, then you'll SR at the top of the minute.

I'm confused. I'm trying to get a good number of shiny taps and stuff. But when I look at the seconds value for my initial seed, it says I have like a 53 seconds value. But during the calibration phase, I got 14 seconds every time. Is their something ingame, or a setting on your DS that could cause your seconds value to be so high?

Hmmm...maybe you got mixed up with Military Time and 12 O clocks or the date/year/time?

I know I had the same problem once and that was the solution....or your DS isn't properly Sync.

Anyways quick Q. I asked this Q. but I think I erased it...or maybe it was another, and I can't seem to find it if I do Il erase this post..ANYWAYS!

When using the Shiny DDPt Egg in Time finder it's much easier and quicker to get the right taps and all that...however, do we still have to start our file with the Pokétch at 5 and have 5 Pokemon in our party? Do we do the coin flip check first then the tap, and then again the coin flip required?

Just making sure, I tried it yesterday but I was having a bit of trouble.

The seconds value is the second you started on when compared to the DS's internal clock. If you were to hit continue at 15:44:44, it would show a seconds of 44. It doesn't count how long you took to load.
