A Successful Monoteam! (OU RMT)

READ THIS:

Yes, this actually is a successful monoteam, I did it for fun 3 months ago but I never felt like posting it here,(since it was just for fun and not a comp
etitive team), but ,for some reason, this team he's getting a lot of success! I won more than I lose, and when I lose, I lose 6-5 (most likely because of hax; Stone Egde missing, etc...) or something very close to that. Of all the Monoteams I made this one was the most successful, I don't know why but I'm extremely happy with this! (And surprised too.) =)
Oh yeah, so the type of the team is bug. *This guy is kidding me.*
So heres the team! ;)

Analysis

Yanmega

yanmega.png

Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted lens
Evs: 4 Def / 252 Speed / 252 SpA
Nature: Timid
Moveset:
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Ancientpower
- U-turn

Yanmega is an Anti Lead. He's job is to prevent the others leads from using entry hazards that hurt my team a lot. I choose the Tinted lens/Choice Specs set because I find it more useful; it hits harder and can be used as a late game sweeper if it stays alive. Air Slash is for flinch hax, Buz Buzz is the main form of STAB, Ancientpower is for Moltres and U-turn is to scout for counters.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Butterfree

butterfree.png

Butterfree @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compoundeyes
Evs: 4 Def / 252 Speed / 252 SpA
Nature: Timid
Moveset:
- Stun Spore
- Sleep powder
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden power (Ground)

Butterfree is extremely useful to me. Eliminating threats with Sleep Powder and Stun Spore already made me won many matches. I normally use Stun Spore more than I use Sleep Powder. I use Stun Spore on fast sweepers, putting them to sleep won't help me much, they will eventually wake up and screw me. I mainly use Sleep Powder on things like Swords Dance Lucario. Bug Buzz is the main form of STAB and Hidden Power Ground is to eliminate Heatran, Magnezone and others steel types. (No, Butterfree is not my solution against them.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scizor
scizor.png

Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
Evs: 252 HP / 252 Att / 4 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Quick Attack

This is the Standard Swords Dance Scizor. There isn't much to say here... I use bullet punch to revenge kill low HP foes, Swords Dance to boost my attack and Bullet Punch to sweep. =P I use Superpower to get the OHKO on Heatran and to hit other steels. Quick Attack is mainly a filler, I think I could replace it, but it wouldn't make any difference. All my team knows one bug move, so X-Scissor wouldn't make any difference. If I decide to use Roost maybe I'll will "transform" this on a Bulky Scizor...You decide.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pinsir

pinsir.png

Pinsir @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
Evs: 252 Att / 4 Def / 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
- X-Scissor
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Close Combat

Pinsir is sooooooooo underrated. People see it as Heracross's shadow. Pinsir has the same base att and speed of Heracross. Pinsir also has a 100 base defense and two awesome abilitys. But Pinsir lacks the Fighting type that Heracross has. But, it's just stupid that people don't use it because of that. I hate when people seen surprised when they see the stats of Pinsir, like: "ZOMG HWS THT SO STRONGH!" or "HACKER EARTHQUALE DOESN HIT RTOM!!" These kind of person should get a life...
This set is self explanatory. I use Pinsir to outspeed possible threats and KO them. People just don't expect it to be so strong and fast.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heracross
heracross.png

Heracross @ Choice Band
Ability: Guts (Maybe I'll change it.)
Evs: 252 Att / 4 Def / 252 Speed
Nature: Jolly
Moveset:
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Stone Egde
- Night Slash

Heracross works almost like Pinsir. Its main role is to hit as hard as possible. I don't have much to say here since this set is almost equal to Pinsir's set. Close Combat is a form of STAB to hit steels, Megahorn is the main form of STAB, Stone Edge is to hit Flying-types and Night Slash is to hit Rotom. Heracross is a really good pokemon, if atleast it learned X-Scissor...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Forretress
forretress.png

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy --'
Evs: 252 HP / 4 Att / 252 Def
Nature: Bold
Moveset:
-Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
-Toxic Spikes
- Payback (Maybe I should replace? Explosion?)

Forretress is the rapid spiner of my team. I only added it to the team yesterday, because the team was getting a lot of success. I had Venomoth in his place, but Forretress is alot more helpful.
One of the main problems of this team is Stealth Rock (or was), Forretress resolves that, he rapid spins to get rid of entry hazards and sets SR and TS. Payback is to take care of ghost-types, but I'm considering explosion in its place. (Or maybe Earthquake.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion

I hope you liked of reading this as much as I liked of writting it. Again, I'm not lieing. This team is very successul, if it wasn't I wouldn't even bother posting it here, so don't say I as just saying that to attract people to my thread.

HAPPY RATING!

I don't know much about monoteams, but I'm going to say that Scarftran rips through this whole team. Pinsir should be Jolly to outrun Timid Scarftran, or make Heracross Scarf+Jolly.

I don't see many Scarf Heatran with positive speed natures...if I see one I'm probably screwd, unless I got no entry hazards on the field. If I don't got entry hazards Butterfree will paralysi it and KO with HP ground.
Maybe I'll change Pinsir's nature, if it becomes a big problem.

Any Scarf fire type with a positive speed nature and a base speed over 77 and you lose. Badly.

Most Scarftran are Timid.

Actually, just about anything with a fire attack is going to do some very awful things to your team.

I recommend running a normal, speed boosting Yanmega lead, as Specsmega really doesn't do well as an anti-lead. I would rather put the Scarf on Heracross and the CB on Pinsir. CB Mold Breaker EQ is pretty cool I suppose, and Heracross's better STAB combo make him better suited for the Scarf set since there are more things he can revenge with Close Combat (not taking 25% from SR is better, I imagine the Scarfer is used much more than the CBer).

I would seriously consider Light Screen on Forretress, perhaps with an Occa Berry and Earthquake. Otherwise this team is just killed by Fire teams.

I don't really see how this team can be particularly successful.

Hmm, I'll probably switch the choice itens.
I didn't get to face many choice scarf fire types with this team, I guess people give that task to things like Gengar or Alakazam. When I face one I'm probably screwd.
With: "Otherwise this team is just killed by Fire teams." Do you mean all fire type teams?
And, as I clearly said in the begining and in the conclusion, if this team wasn't successful I wouldn't bother posting it here. I know that is extremely hard to believe it is( I'm extremely surprised it is aswell), because I can't get so good matches with my others monoteams (Dragon for example) as I have with this one... I think I'll add logs to this thread, for people to see the team in action. I won't add them today, It's late here and I'm tired.

Do you play on Shoddy Battle? With the popularity of pokemon like Heatran and Infernape, as well as the effectiveness of Fire attacks in general (you can find Fire Punch on Scarfchis, Flamethrower on Salamence, etc.), a bug team really should be losing a lot. I get a feeling you don't play on Shoddy too much, as Alakazam and Moltres are really quite uncommon. Just about any team with a decently speedy Fire type can really put this team in a world of hurt.

Alright, well the team looks pretty good for a monoteam. All I have to say to you is WILDCARD. I play in alot of the little Monotype tournaments that start randomly on smogon and they all allow a wildcard. In fact for most teams it is simply a must. Adding your own Heatran over Heracross (you said yourself Hera and Pinsir doe te same thing) would take care of your fire weakness nicely.

If you object to using one then yea, you'll have some major issues with Infernape and Heatran if Pinsir is down.

I read this the other day and decided to try it out.

It did much better than I expected it to. I won just slightly more than I lost.

I only found two major problems with the team:
1. Fast things with flamethrower or fire blast eat this team. Scarf heatran can sweep this whole team with stealth rock up. Without stealth rock the only real counter it has is butterfree, who can only pray to paralyze.
2. Butterfree tends to be a bit of a dead weight. It has done its job once or twice when the rocks weren't up, but when the rocks are up it can't do anything. It would probably be a good idea to replace it with a strong fire resist like heatran or even kingdra.

Just as an added note, this team was amazingly fun to try out ;] I hope you don't mind if I play around with it in the future.

By the way, I'm new here so I don't quite know the rules. I've read them and by my own judgment 2 days isn't too old of a thread and I did add "something of consequence." If I made a mistake just tell me and I'll remember in the future.
