Completely agree. Have like a dangling chain around it's arm. That would make it alot more interesting. Also maybe some fragments of a obelisk? (Egyptian pillar)

@Purpureal: I liked the pumpkin better. The concept was truly outside the box. This concept... just kinda scares me. do you know what i mean? that stare is creepy.

I had a funny idea to have pokemon sticking out of his body, but I guess that'll work more in the supporting art stages =P. Anyways I really like your idea, but don't you think that might give off a more... ghostly image?

Once again pretty rough. I can't help but think that cactus... eh... looks like palkias head if you know what I mean...

would it be possible to make the cow skull more... tauros or miltanky?
i think the cactus hurts the ground part of it, maybe a rock or something you'd find lying around. otherwise, way past my pixel guy =p great job

Here's a sketched outline of my idea, its a Lemur Witch Doctor. I need to work on making him look more ground, the color scheme is going to work with it, but any ideas?

So yeah, its not great, but any comments are welcome!

@ pkmn-taicho321: something unexplainable is drawing me to your (first) design. I love the personality of it, that it's smiling. If you could change the feet, drop the chain and various things sticking out of the second drawing, and possibly add more bone (skeletal?) elements to the design, I think it would really blow a lot of people out of the water.

Gah! I'm being pulled around! how about I compromise and move the chain elsewhere and get ride of the cactus? I think I agree that the original feet were better. Wondering if I could add a rib cage... hmmmm. I was thinking about a tail but what if it was a tail made from bone?

Back again with a new concept design!

Alot wanted more detail so i decided to add Umbreon-like circles on its tummy. I also dropped the belly scales and some skin tags. Not to mention the harpoon tail.

Likes? Dislikes? Say so!

(I know i screwed up on the skin tag, ill fix it later...)
very sleek! maybe some separation ar the mouth to make the beak look more distinct

update with some colors and tried a dark shell top, probably won't keep it but wanted an idea of the grave stones against mud or dirt. added a fourth stone and am still at a loss for the tail. i think i like what i did with the facial features, the trunk is growing on me. i'll try to update it more tomorrow.

Tail+Lantern= yes

I like the darker top though I think you should add some moss or something. I'm still not a big fan of the trunk but the eyes look better.

i was thinking the lantern approach or a dead looking tree, to dangle over the graves maybe? i'll bother the nose tomorrow then, thx though. =)

Okay here's an attack/other concept sketch. Might use this as my secondary.

1) Dark Pulse

2) Possibly Persuit

3) Rapid Spin-ish

Yo!, here's my concept pokemon so far. Well two-ish...

I haven't quite decided which color design I should go with, and any feed back would help greatly.

So basically my design is based of the Ur-turtle, or more comonly called, the World Turtle. With his head hiding in his shell with his glaring eyes sybolizing DARK type, almost sinister, while having his shell decorated like a globe to sybolizing, obviously the Earth, or better yet, his GROUND type.
I placed Lunatone next to him because my idea was that my Pokemon has a sort of relationship with it much like Mantine and Remoraid do. As in like you would need Lunatone and my pokemon's "pre-evolved form" to evolve into what you see up there (And perhaps there would be a different evolved form if it were Solrock).
Any sugestions or comments would be gladly apreciated.

I like the first one due to the earth tones and Lunatone signifies night and absence of light. The second one would be a good Shiny, with Solrock instead of Lunatone to show the light of day which brings out the colours.

Very cool design.

color commentary

while its true that you should respect the wishes of the artist concerning the color of the design, you really couldnt be more wrong in this instance regarding ground types. 95% of all ground types use earth tones. nearly all the pokemon you mentioned not following this trend reflect the colors designated by their primary/secondary type (blue for water, white for ice, purple for poison, grey for steel etc.)

Okay, I think that it is properly compressed this time (just 26 KB), so we shouldn't have a problem? I think?

What do people think of this version? It does not have fangs, but I think it has a lot of character right now. I'm open to suggestions on how to improve it further.

Ok, after a major visit to the design workshop, I have settled on one I'm happy with.

I loved the Hyenamon, I really did. I also loved my WolfHorse from CaP4. So like any other parent, I took my kids and smooshed them together to create one super baby! What's that? Parents don't usually do that? Oh...

Well anyway, this "new" design combines attributes from those two designs and tweaks them to fit in our scope here. The end result is a Pokemon with a nimble body for making agile and swift movements, as well as powerful legs and claws for burrowing and escaping in a pinch.

Like most dark types, This bugger is an ambush predator; easily using the cover of darkness to pursue and overwhelm its prey. During the day, it burrows underground and rests. To protect itself while digging, its limbs have been naturally reinforced with a thick carapace which provides a means of defense as well as enhanced digging strength.

The long tail serves a few uses. Like most sprinting animals, it serves as a means of balance whilst running. The tuft of fur at the end can also be flicked around at a rapid rate and is often used for fanning in the dry arid heat as well as kicking up a sandstorm in an effort to escape would-be attackers. The tail is also very flexible and can be used in a whip-like manner to attack.

The color scheme is still in the air for the moment, but I'm happy with it thus far. The body stripes are only there for aesthetic reasons, like in Zangoose's case.

A new concept kind of based on Osiris/Pharaohs/ancient Egypt, and my first one is like dirt coloured now. Which one do y'all like best?

The goblin thing was my actual first idea but I don't think I'm going anywhere with it.

i love the little pharaoh thing and think you should go with the beige & pink colour scheme... it would be nice to see a design for a cute-but-powerful pokemon win out seeing as all the other CAPs are rather monstrous-looking (in a good way, but still!)
