Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

OK good, because this is what I've gotten so far.
Seconds: 16 Delay: 602
Seconds: 18 Delay: 606
Seconds: 19 Delay: 612
Seconds: 19 Delay: 604
Seconds: 19 Delay: 598
Seconds: 19 Delay: 598
Seconds: 19 Delay: 596
Seconds: 19 Delay: 602

??? Are you using an AR or something? That tends to add like 2 seconds to my "non AR" time. I usually get exactly 14 every time without an AR and 16 every time with an AR for Pearl and Plat. However, if you can consistently hit that, then it doesn't matter.

yeah, I am using a AR.
Is that going to mess up my RNG breeds?

If you have 5 pokes in your party, it will advance the frame by 5. However, because the monster frame is 1, if you fought the Regi after 128 steps, it would be frame 6 (5 + 1). Does that make sense?

Ok i think i get it (i might be wrong on this though) so if i had 4 pokemon in my party and walked 32 steps it would advance the frame by 1?

No, it only advances after 128 steps, so have an odd number of pokes in your party and recalculate your journal flips from there =)

EDIT: From the guide:

Walking in areas with no wild Pokémon

Taking 128 steps will advance the RNG by a number equal to the number of Pokémon in your party. This step counter is stored when you save your game and does not revert to zero when you soft reset, so it is important that you walk exactly 128 steps. Any more and it is possible that the RNG will advance again and throw off your calculations.

I know Raikou is Method 1, but what frame would he be on? 1 or 6 like the birds in Pt, or something different?

[edit]
just found skimming the research thread (thankyoulighningfusion!)
Raikou F-1
Entei F-6

[edit 2]
Does Sweet Scent still only advance the frame by two in HG like in DPPt?

I hope so, cause 269 doesn't divide into anything evenly.

But 267 can divide into 3. So you have to walk 128 steps 89 times, XD!

Nah, luckily the room the dogs are in and the room above it where the entrance is has wild pokes. I'll just keep careful track of my steps and it should advance by one. I'm sure it'll take me 2/3 trys, but I'll get it. :)

269 steps? that's easy, :P.

I hope you have a calculator next to you to keep track, :D.

Sew....

Abusing for Raikou in HG...

Here's what I did...

  • Beat rival talked to those 2 dudes, walked out and saved in first patch of grass south of town
  • Reset and tried to hit my delay (495)
  • In Grass facing up and out
  • Sweet Scented (+2???)
  • Masterballed Rash 19/7/3/28/25/2 Stantler
  • Found my Delay to be 491, and my seed to be 680E01EF
  • Walked 1 step forward Out of grass
  • 62 Steps through town to enter the Burnt Tower
  • Used 1 Repel
  • 19 Advancements (including the one that activated the ladder)
  • 2 advancements to get to the steps
  • 1 advancement down the step
  • 1 advancement forward to activate the dogs
  • Caught Raikou (Serious 3/19/0/19/26/29, Method 1, Frame 799)
Anybody know why it landed on frame 799 and not like say...23-25ish?

[edit]
I'll go back. Save in front of the dogs. Release, then find my seed and see what frame it lands on...

Hey, I'm using Method J for catching Darkrai. I chose a timid nature one that is shiny. I know my target frame "181" and I've hit my times and delay a few times with the coin flip app confirming it. My problem is that I know you have to subtract 1 from the Target Frame because of the Monster Frame and I have 5 pokemon in my party. So the first couple of times I was successful in meeting the target time and delay but I wasn't successful in hitting the Target frame. The formula I calculated was like 181-1=180......180/2=90 journal flips. When I flipped it 90 times instead of hitting frame 181 I hit 182 and got a Nature and IV spread that I didn't want but it was right for it's frame and date. I then was successful again at hitting my target time and delay but that time I tried to flip the journal 89 times because of I was wondering if it would change me jumping over the target frame by 1, so instead I undercut it by 1 with 180 as my frame.

So with all that said they arn't making sense to me because I still have to subtract 1 for Darkrai. 181-5-1=175.....175/2=87.5 journal flips........If I leave out Darkrai's number it'll be 181-5=176....176/2=88 journal flips......The only thing that seems like it should make sense is 181-1=180.....180/2=90......I tried 90 though and it made it got to 182.

I would surely appreciate it if omeone could help me. Thanks.

Do you have any roamers out? Cress, Mesp, the Birds? They each advance the frame by 1.

In other news...
No advice on why my frame was so high in HG???

I Have one roamer running around. I didnt know that advanced the frame when you are by Darkrai though. Are you sure about this? If you are sure then the formula would be 181-1-1-5=174/2=87 journal flips?

It actually does. I've used it to advance the frames for a Mewtwo. So the area Articuno is in must be a dead zone for wild Pokemon - so Sweet Scenting shouldn't work, either.

No the area with Articuno definately has wild pokemon, I used my sweet scent technique which allowed me to search different frames and I now have my desired spread and hidden power. I have no idea why Cerulean Cave advanced your frame when Cinnabar Cave did not, More research going to be needed I guess.

Well, I don't know anything about HG/SS, so I'll just ask something general, are there any NPCs moving around?

Yeah, there actually do happen to be several around. They are all on the top floor where the enterance is. I didn't know NPCs could advance the frame of method 1 "legendary" pokes, but I guess that is possible, just like Wondercard pokes! 0_0

Well, there aren't any on the actual floor that the dogs are on, so maybe I should just...
1) save in front of them
2) try to hit my seed (not that hard)
3) take 269 steps/turns with repels on (that should advance me to 270, my target)
4) activate the dogs
5) go outside and catch a wild poke to check my seed
6) chase down Raikou to verify

Would step 5 work in my plan, or would it be too late, cuz it would probably take 5 mins to advance my frame if I count carefully...

Ok It's happening again. With the delay I got from my seed, I do calibration for emloop, catch a wild pokemon, then check my delay and adjust it accordingly on emloop. Then after checking my results, the coin flip will not return my accurate target time. It keeps bouncing around and giving me different seconds.

After adjusting your frames or delay for emloop after you have calibrated, you will need to adjust the seconds accordingly. You can normally overcome it by knocking a second or two off the pre-counter so you are still aiming for the same time and second.

Also I would like to add that when I was playing with my Articuno's frame, I saved facing the bird with my sync directly behind me, I turned around, spoke to my sync, it made its typical cry and a (!) appeared above its head, then I turned toward Articuno again and encountered it. My frame had jumped from 3 to 31 or an advancement of 28 frames. This is very handy to know as its a reliable way to advance large numbers of frames at once.

I did this about 15-20 times as it was Method K, and there are multiples of the same spread, after so many attempts 31 was the ONLY recurring frame number

This is for platinum so I can't do that lol. And I already changed the seconds on my target time. Though my original target time during calibration was 18:03:24 and after adjusting the delay in emloop, the seconds generated 28.36. So what I did was search for a new time with 28 seconds, which gave me 18:10:28. Should I acutally sync the clock 4 minutes back for this one (haven't been doing it so that's why I asked)? Also, when you said knock one or two off the pre counter, did you mean instead of 60, make it 58?

Oh I see what your doing. I don't have the patience to put that counter on 60 but thats not relevant here. By making that count to 58 instead of 60 you would not have need to adjust your target time, but considering you have changed your target time leave it at 60.

Your Target time is 18:10:28, when hitting close to your delay, how far away the second your hitting? If you get 18:10:27 change your other counter to 61, on the other hand if your hitting 18:10:29 make the other one 59.

Set your DS clock to 18:09:00 and as soon as you hit 'set time' hit space bar to activate your emloop. Boot up your game and when the 1st counter reaches 0 Soft Reset (Start+Select+L+R) Once your on the continue screen wait for the 2nd timer to reach 0 then start the game. If thee are no NPCs in your area do your coin flips, if they do not match, catch a poke and find what you hit so you know what to adjust.

Sorry if I've repeated alot of what you already know I just want to be thorough. And the last part of my last post was regarding HG/SS frame advancement which i was discussing in another earlier post of mine.

Oh I see with the HGSS blah blah blah haha. Thank you I'll try to adjust my first timer and see what happens.
