The Only Fan of Mega Man 2 on Shoddy [OU / Mono-Steel]

Is me, Patriot Joshua. Sucks nobody else on Shoddy is really a fan, you people should give it a try some time! So here it is, the first team based on Mega Man 2.
120px-SonicFormula.jpg

Despite the fact that this team is Mono-Steel and based on Mega Man 2 Robot Masters, I refused to cheat and use "Metal Man". Considering that Stealth-Rock is the most common move in the game and most of the big offensive threats in the game attack on the physical spectrum, I feel this team has competitive merit.

Edit: I've added Dummy Descriptions for people who enjoy to read the painfully obvious / regurgatate Strategydex description paraphrased / don't know what a move does. If you don't know what any of these moves do, please do not post here.

In the year 200X, a super robot named Mega Man was created. Dr. Light created Mega Man to stop the evil desires of Dr. Wily. However, after his defeat, Dr. Wily created eight of his own robots to counter Mega Man.

Ani485MS.png
Heat Man (Heatran) (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Roar

Quick Read: He's a fairly sturdy lead and beats out the 2 most common leads, Azelf and Metagross. I favor teams with phazing and Heatran's sturdiness made him a good candidate for Roar.

Dummy Description: Fire Blast allows me to combat incoming steel-types. This includes common leads such as Metagross and Fire-Proof Bronzong, which could otherwise take advantage of my Fire moveless lead and establish Stealth Rock on my field of play. Fire Blast also receives STAB bonus and becomes empowered by Flash Fire, making for a devastating "bread-and-butter" attack. Earth+Fire offers alright coverage, though I will get walled by the likes of Gyarados and Salamence. Good thing I have switch-ins to these. Stealth Rock offers residual damage that gives Roar and Whirlwind extra "umph" and allow my Scizor and Metagross to kill off key targets. Shuca Berry allows Heatran to survive Earthquake. Roar allows me to phaze targets. OK.

Ani385MS.png
Flash Man (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch
- Thunderpunch

Quick Read: Based on my second favorite MM2 Robot Master (I'm pretty caring, just as bald, but I'm no misery gut), Jirachi too has the ability to "stop time" if you get my drift.

Jirachi's bulk isn't given enough attention (100/100/100) It can come in often, take wallop, and win out against lot of tricky things it really shouldn't be able to, thanks to the time freezing capabilities of Iron Head / Zen Headbutt. Yup, 100 base defense, special defense, and HP make it pretty bulky, coupled with above average offense (100 attack, 100 special attack) with good defensive typing. More people should use Jirachi!

I chose Ice Punch to take care of Salamence, Gliscor, and Flygon who would otherwise give this team a lot of problems. Zen Headbutt stops Infernape from running through this team. TPunch takes care of Gyarados. Iron Head is a general STAB move and deals good damage.

Dummy Description: Jirachi has considerable bulk and supports the team via somping on Salamence and Gyarados during their sweep attempt. Common pokemon that switch into Jirachi are things like Heatran, which Scizor can easily finish off late game if it's paralyzed. I chose Ice Punch to take care of Salamence, Gliscor, and Flygon who would otherwise give this team a lot of problems. Zen Headbutt stops Infernape from running through this team. TPunch takes care of Gyarados. Iron Head is a general STAB move and deals good damage. More people should use Jirachi!

He can stop time for a short period. He sometimes makes bad use of his power for fun.
"Stop in the name of love!"
Good point: Caring boss
Bad point: Miseryguts
Like: Camera
Dislike: Commercial for wig

Ani395MS.png
Bubble Man (Empoleon) (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 12 HP/232 Spd/252 SAtk/12 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Agility

Quick Read: This set is built to setup on Salamence or Gyarados in the process of revenge killing them, surviving and popping of Agility in the face of their Earthquake.
Dummy Description: Empoleon's Water/Steel typing allows it to switch in often thanks to it's many resistances. Surf gives it a basic STAB move to hit rock-type, ground-type, and fire-type for super-effective damage. Ice beam allows it to hit flying-type, dragon-type, and ground-type for super-effective damage. Hdden Power [Electric] is primarily for Gyarados. Agility allows it to outspeed stuff that would otherwise OHKO it with EQ or Close Combat, such as Gyarados, unboosted Salamence, and Infernape.

"The sea will swallow you!!"
Good point: Bubbly personality
Bad point: Lavish spender
Like: Hot spring
Dislike: Oil slick

Ani227MS.png
Air Man (Skarmory) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/6 Def/252 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Spikes
- Taunt

Quick Read: Spikes play a central role to my strategy behind this team. They allow Scizor and Metagross to net some key kills that would otherwise screw them over. I gave Skarmory Taunt so as to not llow Skarmory become setup bait for other spikers. I went full Special Defense because Skarmory's Defense is already high enough. Considering giving it Shed Shell, as the Poke gets revenge killed by Magnezone.

Dummy Description:Spikes play a central role to my strategy behind this team. They allow Scizor and Metagross to net some key kills that would otherwise screw them over. I gave Skarmory Taunt so as to not llow Skarmory become setup bait for other spikers. I went full Special Defense because Skarmory's Defense is already high enough. Leftovers provide recovery. I am, however, considering giving it Shed Shell, as the second Poke gets revenge killed by Magnezone. Shed Shell will allow me to switch out of Magnezone.

Cdno010.jpg

With the huge propeller installed in his body, it can create powerful gusts of wind.
"What wind blows you here?"
Good point: Putting on airs
Bad point: Windy talk
Like: Surfing
Dislike: Fall of the leaf

300px-Crashman.png

Ani212MS.png
Clash Man (Scizor) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 32 HP/252 Atk/224 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Brick Break
- Swords Dance

Quick Read: Based on my favorite MM2 Robot Master, I'm pretty forthright if you don't know me, this one time I put my boxer-briefs on backward and felt fairly awkward, I like breaking stuff, and I hate radical liberals. Scarlet and Gold are my 2 favorite colors. Many people still aren't prepared for SD Scizor. With Spike and Stealth Rock support, it's not completely uncommon for Scizor to rip through entire teams early on.

Dummy Description: The goal behind this build is to bring it in on something it scares away and Sword Dance on the switch. Most people will expect this to be CB Scizor. A lot of CB Scizor counters, such as Scarf-less Magnezone are killed by SD Scizor. Bug Bite is a powerful STAB attack that hits dark, grass, and psychic Pokemon for SE damage. Bullet punch also provides a powerful STAB attack, but with priority. Brick Break takes care of Tyranitar, Magnezone, and makes them think twice about bringing in Lucario. The residual damage from SR and Spikes aid this poke in it's sweep attempt.

Cdno013.jpg

A drill-type bomb called the Crash Bomber is his weapon. His body is protected with a thick armor.
"I am the Destroyer!"
Good point: Forthright
Bad point: Awkwardness
Like: Crushing buildings
Dislike: Recycle

300px-Quickman.png

Ani376MS.png
Quick Man (Metagross) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 112 HP/252 Atk/12 Def/132 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch
- Agility

Quick Read: I think AgiliGross and SDScizor make a cool team even though Metagross is ugly. Thunderpunch takes care of Scizor's Gyarados weakness, Earthquake takes care of Infernape. I'm considering Ice Punch though, as Zapdos still poses a problem for both sometimes.

Dummy Description: The goal behind this build is to bring it in on something it scares away and Agility on the switch. Meteor Mash is a powerful STAB attack that hits most things for neutral damage. Thunderpunch can take care of flying and water pokes, such as Gyarados. Earthquake can hit Steel, iso, and Fire pokemon for SE damage, such as Infernape, Heatran, and opposing Metagross. The residual damage from SR and Spikes aid this poke in it's sweep attempt. Shuca Berry ensures the revenge kill against Gyarados.

Flash Man (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 240 HP/160 Def/76 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Thunder Wave
- U-turn
- Wish

Quick Read: Based on my second favorite MM2 Robot Master (I'm pretty caring, just as bald, but I'm no misery gut), Jirachi too has the ability to "stop time" if you get my drift.

Jirachi's bulk isn't given enough attention (100/100/100) and the things that are immune to Thunder Wave (ground types) is stuff I'll be switching out on anywho and T-wave should really help because robot-type is pretty slow. Wish is there for if my late game sweeper has to come out early and takes damage. Yup, 100 base defense, special defense, and HP make it pretty bulky, coupled with above average offense (100 attack, 100 special attack) with good defensive typin. More people should use Jirachi!

Dummy Description: Jirachi has considerable bulk and supports the team via Thunder Wave, paralyzing a plethora of pokemon and allowing Scizor to sweep easier late game. Common pokemon that switch into Jirachi are things like Heatran, which Scizor can easily finish off late game if it's paralyzed. Wish allows me to heal the pokemon on my team that do not possess the ability to heal on their own. U turn allows me to keep tempo in my favor should something switch in that I don't particularly want to face, and I can bring in something better suited to do the job. More people should use Jirachi!

Bubble Man (Empoleon) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Quick Read: 1 of 2 Pokes that can be revenge killed by non-scarfed Magnezone on this team. Empoleon's typing gives it plenty of openings to switch in and fire off it's jizz. I needed a special attacker. It being the only one on my team, I needed it to hit hard as possible, thus the Choice Specs coupled with max HP. However, I decided that to better deal with +1 Salamence, I should sacrifice fire power for speed.

Grass knot is primarily for Swampert. HP electrict is primarily for Gyarados. Choice Scarf allows it to outspeed stuff that would otherwise OHKO it with EQ or Close Combat, such as Gyarados, Salamence, and Infernape.

I suggest making jirachi your lead and putting scarftran in its place. Scarftran absorbs the fore attack coming at you and hit the steels that try to wall you with a stab fire blast. If you dont like jirachi as the lead use and anti-lead empoleon, it can take out many opposing leads. But in general keep tran from leading because it can get taken out by many leads like pert and gyra

You need to improve your descriptions or this will be locked, thanks in advance.

Care to elaborate on this? For each Pokemon I've described their role, why I've given them a a move if it's a non-standard move / EV spread, and how they work with the rest of the team. Which Pokemon imparticular need expanding? I felt I've done an adequate job describing my Pokemon with less words.

3. Have some actual words in your post beyond your six Pokemon and their moves. Not following this makes your post quite boring to read and rate. All Pokemon should have a good reason for being in your team anyway, so why not post that reason? If you are having trouble with this one, start by giving an explanation for each team member. Why are they there? What role do they serve? How do you get them in? Then, give an explanation of how you would open with the team and how you would go about using it. All of these things help people rate your team and allow us to offer more helpful advice.

This does not mean add one sentence saying "Standard x" or "all-around awesome" after each Pokemon. If you put thought into making the team, you can put thought into posting it.

My descriptions meet all of those standards.

I suggest making jirachi your lead and putting scarftran in its place.

My problem with that is that Jirachi loses to the top 6 or so leads and I think Wishrachi is cool to keep hidden as long as possible till it's needed

If you dont like jirachi as the lead use and anti-lead empoleon, it can take out many opposing leads.

I considered it, but I don't have enough experience dealing with anti-lead Empoleon. How do they fair against Azelf, Metagross, and Jirachi?

WTF Your Title is so wrong. First off, I am the best Robot Master :D The Rate My Team section is normally for competitive teams anyways but if this is competitive enough, I will rate it. Heck what am I saying, I'll rate it.
RMT
Just a few comments about the layout etc. Descriptions should be longer and put some heart and soul into your team :) and tell use how/why the EVs are the way they are now and stuff...
The Rate
K I will first off rate your entire team. Your team seems fairly sturdy for a Mono type one, as I can easily see. After using the Marriland team builder, i could see that you have large, glaring weaknesses to both Ground and Fighting, which leaves you open to many of OUs biggest threats. The largest which you will be likely to encounter will be Infernape, Scarftran,Scarfzone and Salamence. Something which you could just test to help with these problems is testing a Choice Scarf Empoleon. Honestly, I haven't tried it either although it just could work on your team (then again, most things don't work as well as they look like they would on paper). As this is a Mono Steel team, I can't think of much to change other than the fact that you could replace Scizor or someone else with Lucario, seeing as you have Spikes as well.

Members
Heatran
I didn't talk about this pokemon before although there are 2 sets which you could try out...
Heatran @ Shuca Berry
Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Modest Nature
~Lava Plume/Fire Blast
~Earth Power
~Stealth Rock
~Will-O-Wisp

This set is quite an odd one, relying on Shuca Berry and Will-O-Wisp to beat all other leads (bar Mamoswine and I think, Hippowdon). As usual, Stealth Rock is there for obvious reasons and Earth Power is to hit stuff like Metagross with Occa Berry.
Will-O-Wisp, I have already told you; let's you have a more reliable chance against other leads but also physical attackers which lack Guts. The STAB move is quite a tough one. Lava Plume is chucked there as the recommended one as it has 100% accuaracy although has lower Base Power. The reason why it is recommeneded is that with the Burn, you should be killing the enemy with Lava Plume anyways, if not, the the Burn on the same turn probably will.

Heatran @ Choice Specs
Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Modest Nature/Timid Nature
~Fire Blast
~Overheat
~HP Grass
~Dragon Pulse

This set is similar to the one which Oxymentus uses to great success. Overheat OHKOs Metagross, even with Occa Berry. It OHKOs all Steel type leads which aren't called Heatran, Heatproof Bronzong and Jirachi(s) which are U-Turning the same turn. HP Grass easily OHKOs Swampert and is a reliable way of killing Hippowdon. Dragon Pulse helps as it hits Steel Types although I'm not quite sure how helpful this is. Fire Blast can be used if you're against something like Blissey (not lead) after switching etc.
Another possibility is to change this to Scarftran after swapping Jirachi to be the lead.

Jirachi is fine to me unless you want to change it to lead status.
Empoleon Is fine unless you want to change it to the Scarf set. Basically the same as your current set but with Choice Scarf. If you want to keep your current set, then Timid is a possibility.
Skarmory is awesome. I totally love Specially defensive Skarmory however, I don't think Toxic is as useful as Whirlwind as Whirlwind phazes out stat uppers like Gyarados or Nasty Plot Nape who think they can get a free Nasty Plot from this thing (which they probably wont). The Evs seems a little shaky as a little Speed, Attack or Defense may be better.
Scizor is pretty cool although the bulky set might be better. It's quite similiar but plays quite differently. The set is found on Smogon as I'm too lazy to put it up here.
Metagross IS DA BOMB. Choice of item is all i might suggest to change.

Cool Team bro.

Rate
As an OU team, I would rate it 5.5/10.
As a Mono-Type team, I would rate it 7.5/10.
As a Mono Steel team, I would rate it 8/10.
Just trying to be nice :)
Woot go Quick Man. Hope i get a couple of sweeps >:D

EDIT - Empoleon Hydro Pumps/SRs in Azelf face then kills with Aqua Jet or Hydro Pump+Aqua Jet.
Jirachi - Dont SR the first turn. Spam Hydro Pumps and that's that. Empoleon is now a revenge killer.
Metagross - Has problems if it is Trickgross. Vs normal Gross, you go like this:
Turn 1: You SR. Meta SRs.
Turn 2: You Hydro Pump. Metagross Earthquakes.
Turn 3: You Aqua Jet not sure who goes first.
Another way is to skip your SR turn and straight attack, guranteeing you the win against it.

I've now changed up my team, replacing Wishrachi with Scarfrachi and Specs/Scarf Empoleon with Agility Empoleon and threw Shuca Berry on just Metgross and Empoleon to allow for setup-revenge kills, gave Skarmory speed and Taunt as opposed to toxic.

A common problem that is becoming more apperant with this team, however, is that of the threat of Rotom appliances. Any suggestions?

First off, I am the best Robot Master :D

Really, your name is based off the Robot Master? I thought that's just the nickname she... oh nevermind.

The largest which you will be likely to encounter will be Infernape, Scarftran,Scarfzone and Salamence.

Yes, I can see HP Fire Scarfzone being problem. I'd like to know what Scizor would not be able to KO without Life Orb / with Occa Berry. Salamence is now taken care of through revenge-setups with Empoleon, Metagross, and Jirachi as backups to SR+Bullet Punch.

Something which you could just test to help with these problems is testing a Choice Scarf Empoleon. Honestly, I haven't tried it either although it just could work on your team (then again, most things don't work as well as they look like they would on paper).

Tried it. Crap. Empoleon is too slow even with Scarf, too many things outspeed it that aren't even scarfed or max speed. I prefer the versatility of Shuca+Agility.

Heatran @ Shuca Berry
Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Modest Nature
~Lava Plume/Fire Blast
~Earth Power
~Stealth Rock
~Will-O-Wisp

I may just give it a shot now that Wishrachi has been replaced (I'm wary of multiple status types on the same team. Keep it simple stupid is my motto). It may just give me more fire power against Salamence should they be dumb enough to attempt a switch in.

Tried it, still prefer Heatran thus far because while it'll lose to junk that most everything will lose out to anyways (Swamert, Aeroctyl), the number of things it wins against vs the stuff it doesn't bad and Lead Empoleon doesn't seem nearly as useful after the first few turns of laying SR as Agili Empoleon. Not many leads will win vs everything, ya know?

OK, I realize being mono-steel comes with some restrictions, but I have to ask: What on earth do you do against Rotom-H if Heatran's down or weakened? Heatran's the only thing on your team not weak to Electric+Fire and one of the few not walled by Rotom, too. When Heatran faints, your only real answer to Rotom is spamming Zen Headbutt. Luring it into Overheating will at least buy you some time so it doesn't run through the whole team, but seeing as it's immune to your coveted Spikes, it won't really mind coming in repeatedly. Looking at the list of Steel Pokemon available, though, you don't really have many options to take care of this other than sticking random Dark and Ghost moves on things or using crap like Probopass, who can't really do much damage to it anyway.

Unless you want to use a "wildcard" non-steel, or have a secret Rotom-killing plan I don't know about, it's a serious issue and I don't know if you'll be able to win consistently until it's resolved (or you use a team that isn't mono-steel, which you probably don't want to do).
