move 3: Hidden Power Electric
move 4: Rain Dance / AncientPower
item: Oran Berry / Life Orb
ability: Swift Swim
nature: Timid
evs: 76 HP / 196 SpA / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Omanyte has a few advantages that make it a excellent choice for a Rain Dance sweeper. It has the highest Special Attack out of all the Swift Swim Pokemon in Little Cup. Its base 100 Defense allows it to take a physical attack, take most physical priority attacks like Aqua Jet and Ice Shard, and set up Rain Dance. The EVs are simple: 196 Speed EVs allows Omanyte to reach 28 Speed in the rain and 14 Speed otherwise. 196 Special Attack EVs max out its Special Attack stat, while the extra EVs are put in HP for bulk. You can use an alternative spread of 236 HP / 196 SpA / 76 Spe with Modest nature, which gives you enough Speed to outspeed all non-Scarfed Pokemon and Scarfers that only hit 21 Speed. This spread gives you more bulk so you can set up more than once and you get 1 point higher Special Attack. Oran Berry is helpful to restore HP lost from priority moves or from switching into resisted attacks. You can also use Chople Berry on Omanyte to survive Croagunk's Vacuum Wave and OHKO it with Earth Power. This can help open a sweep for different Rain Dance sweepers like Mantyke or Horsea. Life Orb is another option that allows you to OHKO Mantyke with Ancient Power 92% of the time and Chinchou with Earth Power or Hidden Power Grass 100% of the time with Stealth Rock on the field. If you are using Life Orb as the item, you should move the HP EVs into Defense and Special Defense and lower the HP IV down to 30; which allows you to reach 19 HP, a Life Orb number. It's best to go with four attacks if you are using Life Orb; which are Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Earth Power, and AncientPower.

Surf is the primary attacking move. Coming off of an impressive 18 Special Attack stat, it can leave a dent in anything. You may use Hydro Pump instead of Surf for more power but with less accuracy. With Hydro Pump, you are guaranteed a 2HKO on Munchlax (if it hits twice). Earth Power allows you to hit Electric-types likes Chinchou and Elekid super effectively, while Ice Beam lets you hit Grass-types and Dragon-types who resist Surf. The next slot is to hit Water - types. Hidden Power Electric allows you to hit all Water types super effectively except for a few, such as Wooper and Chinchou. Hidden Power Grass is an option that allows you to hit super effectively Wooper and Chinchou super effectively (though Earth Power can take care of Chinchou). Hidden Power Grass does on average 75% damage to Chinchou, so make sure Chinchou has taken some damage before you attack it. The last move depends on what your team needs: if you need another Pokemon capable of setting up rain then go with Rain Dance, otherwise, AncientPower can be used to OHKO Snover 100% of the time with Stealth Rock in play. Be aware that you risk a Speed tie if they run maximum Speed. AncientPower can also be used to hit Mantyke if you are running Hidden Power Grass, although there is only a 2.56% chance for AncientPower to OHKO Mantyke, even with Stealth Rock damage.

Snover is a pain for Omanyte, though less so after taking Stealth Rock damage. Snover summons hail, cancelling out rain and decreasing Omanyte's Speed stat to 14 (tying with max Speed Snover). Risking the Speed tie with Snover to OHKO it with AncientPower is an option, but if Snover is wielding a Choice Scarf, Omanyte will always lose to Snover. To beat Choice Scarf Snover, you can use Bronzor or Munchlax. Bronzor can handle all types of Snover except SubSeed variant of which Omanyte doesn't fear, while Munchlax only fears physical variants of Snover. Bronzor can also set up Rain Dance and Stealth Rock. Croagunk is also a problem for Omanyte, since it is capable of switching in on Surf and OHKOing Omanyte with Vacuum Wave, but Croagunk has to be careful, since it cannot switch into Earth Power or an Omanyte holding a Chople Berry. Therefore, Bronzor makes a great partner for dealing with Croagunk as well. Munchlax can stop Omanyte, so having a Will-O-Wisp Misdreavus can lure Munchlax in and cripple it. It can also stop all Croagunk that lack Dark Pulse or Shadow Ball. Wynaut can aid Omanyte with its ability to trap and kill Croagunk; it can also Encore moves that Omanyte can then set up on. If you choose not to run Ice Beam, Paras can become a problem. Having a Pokemon that is immune to sleep-inducing moves like Mankey can help deal with Paras.

If you choose to not run Rain Dance as the fourth move, you will need a different Pokemon to set up the rain. Voltorb is great for setting up Rain Dance as a lead.

The first two may>can makes it sound a bit better (IMO), and everything else helps it flow.

Ok i fixed the the errors. Also bob what do you mean when you say Diglett? at the end?

Ok i fixed the the errors. Also bob what do you mean when you say Diglett? at the end?

I was just suggesting Diglett as a way to get rid of weakened Munchlax and *possibly* Croagunk (I don't know how much Vacuum Wave does). Also Chinchou to a certain extent.

Diglett can't switch into Munchlax without taking a buttload of damage or a possible KO from Earthquake/Return. It also can't switch into a Life Orbed Fake Out + Vacuum Wave/Sucker Punch from Croagunk, it will fall under a KO like that. I'll give you that it can switch into Chinchou's Thunderbolt and kill it from there, though.

Omanyte's HP EVs are wrong, as they use much more than what are needed to achieve the HP stat. 76 EVs hits the same thing as 116 EVs do. The Speed EVs are also wrong in that they aren't enough to hit max speed. 236 EVs are required to do so. In all you have the same ammound of EVs but less waste.

I'm pretty sure Earth Power should be slashed next to Ice Beam and not in the last slot as Ice Beam only hits Grass types for Omanyte. HP Grass also doesn't add much coverage since you have Earth Power for Chinchou and HP Electric for other Water types.

Also HP Rock does more to Mantyke that AncientPower, but HP Electric should be the main option for it's ability to kill water types. I would suggest moving AncientPower/HP Rock to the set comments and mention you can use them as another attacking move over Rain Dance if you already have a Rain Dance set up pokemon.

You can also suggest an alternative, bulkier spread for more reliably setting up for a sweep. 236 HP/76 Spe/196 SpA Modest gives you enough speed to outspeed all non-scarfed pokemon and scarfers that only hit 21 speed and gives you decent enough bulk to possibly set yourself up more than once, and has one more point of Special Attack than the regular spread.

Perhaps Earth Power should be put over HP [Grass]. You're mainly using it for Chinchou anyways, and Earth Power actually hits it harder. I've found that the best set has been AncientPower/Earth Power/Surf (or Hydro Pump)/Ice Beam, as it hits everything hard... so maybe that should be the main set with HP Elec slashed with EP and Rain Dance slashed with AP. (And a mention of HP [Rock], but really if Omanyte gets that boost, especially in the rain, it's practically GG)

Also Wynaut makes for good support, being a decent Croagunk switchin. It also provides opportunities for Omanyte/other Pokemon to set up Rain Dance with Encore.

Perhaps some calculations would be helpful -.-

ok i'll test out the bulkier spread. I'll talk to you on irc about the other stuff.

ok i see where you are going with the first part. I'll move the stuff around. Also I'll add in wynaut. What calculations do you want?

Just how hard Surf is vs Hydro Pump in certain situations I guess? I'm not a huge C+C guy so they probably aren't necessary or something but I'm sure people would like to know how much Surf/HP does to pokemon like Munchlax or Wynaut or Bronzor and other mons. And also maybe how much stuff like AncientPower/other moves do to "bulky" pokemon like Chinchou/Snover/Mantyke (well this was already included so w/e). I don't know... it's all optional I guess so if you don't feel like it I don't think you should be obligated.

Also, I know you have Life Orb mentioned in set comments but perhaps a slash would be best. Omanyte really does have that fantastic SpAtk stat, but it needs LO to acheive some OHKOes still (which are pretty crucial since it's on a timer and all). Maybe it's only worth it if you're not running Rain Dance.

Nice job macle!

Alright, so for starters, I would definitely add Life Orb as the main option. A slash at the very least. With Life Orb and a 4-attack set (probably HPump / Ice Beam / Earth Power / Ancient Power), you are going to have the easiest time sweeping.

Additionally, I would make the EVs emphasize the fact that Omanyte can easily remain at 19 HP.

The bulkier spread makes sense with Oran Berry, the purely offensive spread makes sense with LO.

And take Hoothoot out of the team options paragraph...lol.
