I'm with everyone who says we really don't need any more Pokemon. It was already hard enough countering everything this generation, it'll be impossible with 150 more. Another possibility that no ones brought up yet, is that this is still gen IV and that this will be the longest generation thus far. Either way I'm still looking forward to what it really turns out being.

But seriously, if anything why not have actual Cries (Kinda like the show, minus the crappy Dub Voice overs) and Voice-prompt Command Attacks? (As in saying an attack name and the pokemon performs it)

Eight pokémon per team.

Problem solved.

They haven't done anything that drastic since generation II and that was only because psychic types were so dominant. Even if it's a "new way to play Pokemon" I doubt they will change the overall game play much. So yes, that means no real-time battling. Though I'm pretty sure they will do some competitive change like the physical-special split or the EV system as they always have.

I'm not that great of a programmer(in fact, I suck), but I think that would be a little hard...for a feature that could be so much simpler just tapping.

Yeah, replacing all the crappy cries from previous generations would be a great idea.

Voice commands are something I hadn't really thought of. It's a cool idea in concept, but, like No winners said, it would probably be really hard to pull off. Oh, well. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

@jumpluff: Glad I could make you happy :)

Think of the frustration of a bad misclick and then imagine how easy it would be for the game to hear a voice command wrong. :pirate: I don't see this happening, but if it does, we'd better be able to disable it.

Aura's link seems to prove it. Especially the bit about it being the first new title in 4 years since D/P. There have been a number of pokemon games since then so gen 5 seems quite obvious now.

So that you have to counter Dragon Dance / EQ / Outrage / Fire Blast / Roost / Dragon Claw (or whatever you want, last move is filler) Mence, along with things like Infernape and Lucario doing the same bullshit?

I sure hope not lol

On a more relevant note, something I think would be awesome would be a new generation with new Pokémon. Instead, Game Freak would focus on making what we have more balance. yeah, a complete makeover of everything, giving shit like Farfetch'd better stats and the such, along with balancing types, moves and everything else. I think it would be awesome. Too bad I know it'll never happen. They'll just focus on adding ~100 more Pokémon. : (

the problem with voice commands is your just about to beat the champion, it's pikachu with hidden power ice vs garchomp with 1hp, you say hidden power, it says did you say thunderbolt? you say no, it says "thank you for saying yes. now using thunderbolt. then garchomp uses earthquake

No more PokeSlot

More MoveSlot, please

And, btw, I really hope to see a new balanced type system :D

Dragon now is just too...powerful, and only 1 type can shut it down T^T

It'd have to be pretty glitchy to confuse Thunderbolt and Hidden Power though.

I very much doubt they will change the functionality of the battle/stat/moves/pokemon-per-team, because it would render it totally incompatible with DPPHGSS, and that's something I absolutely guarantee they will avoid for any Pokemon game on the DS platform (DSi exclusives are another story, however).

They're not stupid; they know a great deal of their product sales come about because people can play and compete with each other.

I'm actually hoping 5th gen is incompatible with 4th, as far as battling goes. After all, if they can battle each other, that means the battle mechanics are exactly the same, only with some new Pokémon and moves.

And, if that's the case, what's the point of a new gen? Every other generation introduced something that made it incompatible with the previous one, battle-wise. GSC revamped the type-chart, the special stat and the CH rate, while RS had new IVs, EVs and natures and DP had a new special/physical split. If 5th gen is only new Pokémon, I'll be very sad. :(

I doubt it'd be like that, but there is possibility of ambiguity. Plus it'd be optionable. Though, to be honest, Nintendogs shows the voice command gimmick can work okay.

The problem with voice commands is I don't want to be talking to my Pokemon on the bus. Voice commands in handheld games is absolutely horrific and I thought Nintendo would have learned that from the feedback for Phantom Hourglass. Sadly they did not and Spirit Tracks has microphone usage as well. If they use it for Pokemon, I will freak.

Gotta agree with this.

I agree. (Ugh, damn the flute gimmick... I know multiple people who stopped playing what was otherwise a good game due to that.) I assume if such a feature existed it'd be optional though... because there's no way in hell you'll catch me screaming myself hoarse. Plus how do you cancel?

At least in Spirit Tracks you only had to blow gently into the mic, actual voice wasn't required. The problem was that in any light breeze you couldn't stop the flute or whirlwind from going off continuously without putting your thumb over it.

I have to agree with you about voice commands in Pokemon, though.

I have recently been thinking about which region of Japan Gen 5 will cover. I predict that it will take place in the Chugoku and Shikoku region oh Japan. There are a couple of reason why I think this.

Firstly, it located between Johto and Hoenn in the pokemon world. This areas is about the same area of Johto and can be seen here http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Pokemonworld.png.

Secondly, it contains the Hiroshima, the largest city by population which is not covered in the pokemon world. Pokemon has so far covered most areas with the largest cities.

Finally, Cianwood City in Johto is actually located on eastern Shikoku. The area Cianwood city was expanded in HGSS.

All of these is dodgy reasons, just some excitement about 5th gen.

I swear 8 pokemon on a team and 6 moveslots would be hellagay.

Yes, but would keeping teams at 6 pokemon and adding one move to movesets bringing them to 5 be bad? I think it would be very nice. Of course, set up pokemon would be able to run a heal move, the set up move, and 3 attacks to achieve awesome coverage, but at the same time think of how much better would RestTalkers, supporters, Blissey, and all others would become. It would be very interesting.

I don't think we can expect such dramatic changes to the basic Pokémon formula. It would be especially difficult to justify more than six Pokémon in a party, seeing as that's been a core component of the entire franchise from night 0.

Also, 6 attacks seems overkill.
Lucario: Swords Dance, ExtremeSpeed, Close Combat, Crunch, Ice Punch, Agility
With dual screens support, of course
Vaporeon: Wish, Protect, Surf, Ice Beam, HP Electric, Toxic
Salamence: Uber on the spot, possibly. I know there's been debate on it
Rotom-A: Sub, Rest, Sleep Talk, T-Bolt, WoW, form move, or some other combo

It would vastly overpower many pokemon in a single night.

I agree with jumpluff.
