RMT: Gänémyte

This is my first competitive level Pokémon team, I hope you guys like it and rate it as you would anyone else.
The Idea/Theme of this team is “Fight Fire With Fire” A good mixture of two Ph Sweepers and two Sp Sweepers with opposite weaknesses, and good spike support with a great variety of attacks to take down lots of different Pokémon efficiently, Although the big downside is going without a written in stone, tank and healer.
Team Gänémyte:

Magnezone @ Magnet
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp Attack / 252 Speed
Modest Nature
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power [ICE]
-Magnet Rise
-Explosion
First off when I made my team I was looking for a electric type simply put because they have only one x2 weakness, then I started thinking about sweepers I know I need a good sweeper that can carry its own weight if I wanted to be successful in any tournament (Which I do plan on using this team In). Well then it narrowed down to Raikou, Jolteon, Electivire, and the MOAB Magnezone. Magnezone as my starter was in a way bold in my opinion, most would pick Salamence, Lucario, or some other Ph Sweeper as a starter due to the ability to take in buffs the first round, and that’s exactly how I use Magnezone to my fullest, due to its whopping thirteen resistances I decided to make it fourteen and remove my greatest threat by using Magnet Rise, Most People will use Sword Dance, Dragon Dance, ect to give me the free opportunity to use Magnet Rise then usually would have opened up with Earthquake 9/10 times giving me a HUGE advantage the first two turns. Now breaking it down to my choice of attacks in specific. Thunderbolt will be my main attack due to the fact it will drop pretty much all water types but Swampert, Quagsire, and Whiscash, Not just every water type but Gyarados in particular. Magnet Rise is self-explanatory. Hidden Power [ICE] to some seems pointless but with 90% of people using Salamence and Garchomp along with many other Dragon, Flying, Grass, and Ground Pokémon now days, it is rather useful as it is hard to come by a team without one of those traits. Finally yet most importantly Explosion simply said it is for when there is no turning back I am within KO reach and I need to take someone out with me.

Gyarados @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Adamant Nature
-Waterfall
-Ice Fang
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
Your everyday average Dragon Dance Gyarados, Oh yeah I went there.
I’m going to cut to the chase on this one, Ph Sweeper Dragon Dance Gyarados. Waterfall - Good solid reliable Ph Attack. Ice Fang – To take out those things they call Garchomp, and those other Pokémon with wings, and can’t forget one of my all time favorites Torterra, Ok you get the point, Earthquake to take out all steel Pokémon that won’t die to WF and IF, Last but not least Dragon Dance good solid buff to make Gyarados even more deadly.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp Attack / 252 Speed
Timid Nature
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power [GRASS]
-Focus Blast
-Explosion
Yep, it’s a Gengar….
First off Shadow Ball, Decent reliable STAB coverage. Next off is Hidden Power [GRASS], most of you are think well why Grass? Is this guy serious? Yes I am, Grass covers a huge gap in my team with the split of moves I’ve put into place grass is going to be deadly. For instance Swampert he is a huge issue for many teams, not for me anymore because of Grass I can easily KO him in one hit and putting the EVs and nature into account I can outrun Swampert to the kill saving half my team from sure destruction. Focus Blast the unreliable power house move, It’s like a Russian made Nuke, Shadow Ball and Focus Blast covers all types of Pokémon as far as I am concerned there is absolutely no Pokémon in all four generations that is resistant to both fighting and ghost. In addition, Explosion the good old-fashioned Kamikaze move.

Tyranitar.gif

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sandstream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Attack / 4 Speed
Careful Nature
-Stone Edge / Aerial Ace
-Stealth Rock
- Roar
-Rest
This here is one of a kind. I’ve used this before and been successful, here is the breakdown, Stone Edge / or Aerial Ace. I have two of these one with Aerial Ace and one with Stone Edge. Stone Edge is usually the one I will use unless I know I’m going to be seeing some Grass / Fighting or If I know Gengar can take care of the Fighting and Gyarados will take out the Grass, It really depends on if I want to be risky or not there both great moves but one doesn’t miss, and one kills the common Pokémon, Steel. Stealth Rock and Roar are self-explanatory, Rest for when it comes down to Tyranitar and Blissey ECT.

477.png

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Defense / 4 Sp Defense
Impish Nature
-Will-O-Wisp (Of Course)
-Shadow Sneak
-Calm Mind
-Pain Split
Dusknoir, The little less common defensive walls you run into but effective. W-O-W- I am using WoW to keep attackers under pressure if they are constantly being hammered on not only by me but also by their selves, they are less likely to succeed. Shadow Sneak is self- explanatory; Due to Dusknoir’s pitiful speed and low damage this attack is basically icing on a cake, Doesn’t make much of a difference with it but without it the whole setup would be bad. Calm Mind is to make up for the Shadow Sneak, and my Low Sp Defense. Pain Split is a recovery move for those of you that don’t know it binds both Pokémon’s HP into one making death inevitable. Most of you are probably thinking why Dusknoir? Truth is, he is cool, and he is a good mixture of support and defense.

salamence.png

Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Adamant Nature
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Roost
What? Did you actually think there was going to be a team without a Salamence? Good old Salamence Adamant Nature; Salamence equals Outrageous. Outrage this is my shoot to kill move after I have used Dragon Dance of course, and if they are not weak to Earthquake. Roost comes into play after using Outrage to make up for any lost health and the confusion. Earthquake pretty basic I tend to use it on allot of my Pokémon that can cover Flying and Bug Pokémon, an it’s always necessary on Pokémon that use Dragon moves because the only type of Pokémon resistant to Dragon is Steel, which is weak to Earth.

Well that just about sums up my team and how I am going to use it; Note that things very that is why I did not get into detail with the game strategy. Im going to use Magnezone first to burn down Gyarados, Tyranitar, and many other openers that fit the category, Gengar is kind of a opposite of Tyranitar so if he dies I use Gengar, After Magnezone dies its Gyarados. Like I said before this team is based off opposites and positives “Fight Fire With Fire” = Great coverage, Great Damage. Overall, I have eleven different attacks to hit every Pokémon in the game with at least x2 weakness (With the exception of Spiritomb and Sableye) and all together I have 41 resistances that covers every type in the game, that includes 8 immunities and Five x4 resistances. This only leaves me with 20 Weaknesses, and only 4 of them are x4 weaknesses.
Thanks for your time.

You need to move Magnezone out of the lead position if anything, only because its your insurance against CB Scizor, Apart from Gyarados who is still getting hurt by SS and SR and getting a nice chunk taken out of him any of CB Scizors attacks. If anything I would move Tyranitar up to the lead position. Replace Roar with Pursuit so you can beat Azelf etc. and replace your leftovers with a Lum berry, so you can take a sleep from Roserade or Smeragle and KO them back with Stone Edge.

Gyarados wants a bulky spread in my opinion, helps you take assaults from mixape, scizor, lucario and heatran better. Run 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe with an Adamant nature and leftovers, however if you feel like you miss the phazing that Tyranitar provides, you could go with 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Speed and Rest/ Sleep Talk/ roar/ waterfall.

Gengar doesn't need HP Grass as it already gets Energy Ball.

Get Thunderpunch on Dusknoir over Calm Mind as Taunt Gyarados destroys you.

GL with the team

Omg im such and idiot I know Gengar get Energy ball thank you for pointing that out i had a brain fart lol
shoulda thought of that

After seeing that you used magnet rise, 99% of decent opponents will not try and use earthquake. Also you said most people would pick Salamence or Lucario as a starter, and that is absolutely wrong, try looking around for the top ten most common leads and if you did start against a Lucario, it would close combat you out of existance.

You are going to want Stone edge waaaaayyyy over aerial ace and rest is useless without sleep talk. I would try focusing Tyranitar as either a stealth rocker or a RestTalker, preferably a stealth rocker if you are set on using him, as you have not other stealth rocks on your team. I would recomend this:

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Adamant
252 HP / 32 Atk / 224 SpD
-Stealth rock
-Stone edge
-Payback/Crunch
-Earthquake

*This is usually used as a lead set, but I included leftovers instead of Chesto berry if you are set on having Magnezone to start.

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Defense / 4 Sp Defense
Impish Nature
-Will-O-Wisp (Of Course)
-Shadow Sneak
-Calm Mind
-Pain Split

My final big problem is that you seem to have Pain split confused with destiny bond, although either may be able to work for your purpose I would look up the differences

It's a good start for a team, but I would take a look around at some of the other RMTs so you can see what style of play and what threats you should really be prepared for. I did my best to make sure that you keep all of the pokemon that you wanted although I highly recommend you take Magnezone out of the lead, good luck.

Oh thanks, I though Pain-Split shared the life, I havent actually breeded for it yet because I wasn't sure if I should put time into it or not.
Tyranitar setup is wack but it seems to work well in a outnumbered situation but definatly Stone Edge over Aerial Ace then, I though with Aerial Ace in play it would cover my Fighting weakness and my Grass weakness all in one, maybe Fire move ill try thanks alot

Yeah pain split does share life, but it doesn't "bind both Pokémon’s HP into one making death inevitable," sorry maybe I should have been slightly more clear, all pain split does is evenly share the health at the point the attack is used while destiny bond will faint the opponent if the opponent kills Dusknoir before Dusknoir uses his next move. Meaning that you should probably still go for it and breed Pain Split, I just wanted to help clarify the move for you.

I'd move your Tyranitar to the lead position, because he's isn't a bad lead, can set up stealth rocks, and because you don't want Magnezone as a lead. So many leads beat him and your team is very weak to CB or SD Scizor.

To help you with your weakness to Scizor and to provide you with a revenge killer, I'd suggest a move from Gengar to this Rotom set:

Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
252 Spe, 252 SpAtk, 4 HP, Modest/Timid
-Overheat
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Trick

This guy can revenge Sizor excellently with Overheat as well as many other threats that can give this team trouble, like SD Lucario.

Hope I helped.

Hi that's an interesting team you have there, I really like how you developed each of the movesets for your team and didn't stick to the smogon sets. First off I agree with everyone and thinkyou should move tyranitar to the lead position. And change your moveset around.
I'd recommend this:
Tyranitar Careful @ Leftovers
252HP/126Atk/120SpD/12spe
~Thunder Wave
~Stealth Rock
~Pursuit
~Stone Edge
I found this set on Phillips team of Torment and tried it out a long time ago. I have to say it's a very effective lead as sand stream breaks your opponents focus sash if they are holding it, can cripple any switch in sweepers with Thunder Wave, it can set up Stealth Rock and it also can be used as a revenge sweeper. If latias is a nuisance to you Trae can come back in and take a choice specs Surf from latias with more then half hp left and pursuit the latias as they try to switch out, or hit her with a STAB Stone Edge if you think your opponent will not switch out.

Also I see that your Dusknoir is using Calm Mind, but your only attack is shadow sneak. If you want to try to utilize Calm mind on Dusknoir I would recomment changing your dusknoir to:
Dusknoir Bold @ Leftovers
252HP/252Def/4Spa
~Will-O-Wisp
~Calm Mind
~Shadowball/Thunderbolt
~Pain Split

I say you should use a special attack since Calm Mind is going to give you special attack boosts and having dusknoir deal damage with a boosted special attack will be very dangerous to your opponent.
