Wow really? So I EV trained this Wobbuffet and manually leveled it up to 75 just to learn that I could use Rare Candy with the same effect as long as he still has all of the EVs? That sucks.

And HitmonRyan, I wish the world worked that way. I'm trying to get a perfect Skorupi right now but with absolutely no knowledge of RNG abuse, I can't.

yes after you max out its EVs you can use Rare candies to level up and it will not effect the EV's on your pokemon

So if I give level 1 Pokémon A 508 EVs and level 1 Pokémon B 0 EVs and I give them both 99 Rare Candies, Pokémon A will have much higher stats than Pokémon B?

Edit: Okay thanks Angry Pacifist, I meant to include that. But wow I keep learning the opposite of how I thought things worked. For like a year I've thought that if you use a Rare Candy, it treats the stat gain on the level up as the Pokémon having 0 EVs, sucks to be me

thats wrong you dont need to level up to gain EV's

Edit: EV's come from the pokemon you fight not from gaining a levels off them
I know that and was not trying to indicate otherwise, however in your post you used the exapmle of a level 100 pokemon, level 100 pokemon do not gain evs because you gain evs only when you gain experience from defeating a pokemon and level 100 pokemon do not gain experience.

its called the box trick

you put a lv.100 pokemon you EV trained then put it into the box take it back out into your party and his states will change.

i did it in my platinum game it does work

With a Level 100 Pokémon it will not work. As Bulbapedia says, "Usually, a Pokémon gains stat points when they level up, based on the amount of effort points that the Pokémon has acquired through battle, and based on its own base stats. But by depositing a Pokémon into the PC and withdrawing it, the game will, in the process of depositing/withdrawing, recalculate the stats of the deposited Pokémon based on the amount of effort points etc. it possesses. The reason it does this is because while in the box the actual stat values are not stored, so they must be calculated when taken out or viewed.

A Level 100 Pokémon in Generation III and IV is unable to gain effort points though battle, so this trick cannot be used to increase a Level 100 Pokémon's stats in those games. This is because Effort Points are awarded at the same time as Experience Points, and since Pokémon at Level 100 don't gain Experience, they are also skipped over for Effort Points. A Pokémon at Level 100 can still gain Effort Points by consuming Vitamins."

You cannot EV train a level 100 Pokémon beyond vitamins. That's why Arceus is banned on Shoddy: it is only available at level 100 but there is no way to enforce the EV limit.

IIRC, you need to level up the Pokemon at least once or put it in the Box to have it apply the EVs before you level it up to Lv. 100 with Rare Candies.

Edit: I've noticed that some Pokemon in the analysis are missing certain things. Like how Qwilfish only has OU sets, Ho-oh's analysis doesn't mentoin Brave Bird, and the Flail Gyarados set is missing. I figure someone's working on the UU Qwilfish analysis and getting rid of gimicks is probably for the best but why isn't Brave Bird at least mentioned in Other Options as I remeber seeing it in a few sets before.

Would like some quick advice. I've been breeding for snorlax for a couple of weeks and I've bred two that I'm considering training (for curselax - careful, 120 def, 220 sdef, 168 hp). Here are their IV spreads (HP/Att/Def/Satt/Sdef/Spd):

31/31/7/-/16/16

31/27/25/-/7/16

So I guess the Q should be which defense stat I want to favor in IVs. Def is going to get a boost from curse regardless, but sdef is already going to be innate high.

If you use Swagger on a Pokemon and then use Punishment.. does the base power of Punishment turn into 100 or does it only get one boost of 20 as Swagger is only one move? Basically does Punishment work based on each separate move or based on the number of stages a Pokemon's stat(s) is upped by? And do BPed stats up the power of Punishment?

Sorry if it's sort of like a few simple questions combined into one but it's all about the one move.. Thanks..

I don't think anyone saw this (my) question 6 pages back or so. =/ Srry for sorta rebumping it.

Punishment works based on the number of stages, so something like Swagger, Calm Mind, or Agility would boost Punishment's power to 100. This is true even if the boosts are Baton Passed.

Sorry, my previous question wasn't clear. I am trying to get this Machop for the Little Cup.

Machop (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 36 HP/196 Atk/36 Def/236 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Ice Punch
- Dynamicpunch
- Payback
- Bullet Punch

I'm trying to figure out how to get both Dynamicpunch and Bullet Punch on it.

Thanks. :3

First find a male Machamp/Machoke/Machop that already has dynamic punch and bullet punch and ice punch, breed it with a ditto or female machop/machoke/machamp and the egg will have those moves when it hatches
