The ducks came down the ducks went up nothing else has happened; there is always the possibility that the metagame will go back to exactly what it was before.

lol out of curiousity, what is the main style of the UU metagame? heh With so many shifts and many pokemon drastically changing the playing style it feels hard to say what the main style is lol.

I started UU right after Staraptor got banned. And UU has always been topsey turbey IMO but still a very fun place. Defintely alot better than OU.

I agree, just putting it out there. Still the first team ive used is the one i ended with before cress/pory got moved down as the metagame is pretty much the same as then. But certainly attitudes will have changed.
The tier is pretty unpredictable; the only thing that seems quite likely is that people will abuse the things that didnt get moved up, not least because the process has raised their profile.

There was nothing wrong with Honchkrow. Interestingly enough Murkrow is a rather formidable attacker. He gets great coverage with BraveBird/Hp Grass/SuckerPunch backed up with Dugtrio for Registeel; he can be quite a threat. Oh not to mention Insomnia and base 91 Speed.

Ive got to agree with Heysup on this one. Guys it may be a bitter pill seeing the ducks on tour but jabba and reach have done everything they can to stop it so save your complaints here, out of respect for them.

Having respect for someone has nothing to do with trying to find a solution. Debate is necessary if we want the changes we seek.

When a pokemon is unanimously voted BL (EVERYONE voted for BL) then there is a problem. Honckrow was on the fence before Brave Bird, and with Brave bird it was the final nail in the coffin.

To be honest, Murkrow doesn't impress me. It's frailty is a major flaw and it isn't powerful enough to be a reputable *glass cannon*

I remember Honch. It was pretty good, but it got banned before I actually started getting good at competitive battling. The combination of Stealth Rock, Life Orb, and Brave Bird recoil killed it prematurely if you ask me.

...Except that it had Roost to heal off all of that with the free turns it created. Oh and it still had 100 base hp for random priority that Sucker Punch didn't kill first. Then just the fact that Brave Bird + coverage 2HKO'd nearly everything in the game. It was more brainless than Moltres.

Moltres is almost BL for the exact same reasons as Honchkrow, and the only reason it stayed down really is because of the 4x SR weak compared to the 2x SR weak and the reason that it actually has a few 100% counters in Chansey and Slowking. Oh and Munchlax iirc. Thick Fat Munchlax! I dare someone to try it.

Ive been testing out SubRoost Moltres on my stall team and that thing is nearly as ridiculous as LO. It still has enough SAtk to dent stuff with Flamer. Everything else is just stalled out. The main thing with it is that people expect LO and switch out giving it free subs, and that is never a good idea. It can then force more switches and abuse Spikes just as wellas or better than LO.

Yea, SubRoost Moltres is pretty ridiculous at times. I've Toxic-stalled some guy's Kabutops in the rain, which is pretty outrageous (I pretty much set up a Sub on the Rain inducer, then Toxic'd the Kabutops on the switch and Sub stalled it to death, Roosting on the turn the Kabutops bit the dust. Stealth Rock and priority Water attacks really does put a damper on stalling Moltres, though IMO.

I agree that the SR and water attacks are mean to Moltres (though the Non-AquaJet ones can be stalled out), but I don't think priority is something it should be worying about , other than Aqua Jet. You can Sub on Sucker Punches and resist Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave. The others dont do enough damage, other than Extreme Speed, and I've found that even Arcanine's CB ESpeed doesn't hit hard enough.

Counters are overrated.

Also, Honchkrow doesn't have 5 moveslots. If he runs Roost then shit like Rhyperior and Omastar (irrc) can switch in soak up a hit and threaten him out assuming SR is up Honch has taken 60% damage on his next switch-in. How about Morning Glory Arcanine? He was pretty damn effective at stopping physical threats. In all honesty, Venusaur was (and still is) a more potent threat then what Honchkrow could muster. Honchkrow was a linear attacker... he HAD to use a specific move or else face a KO or crippling status. Venusaur on the other hand is less predictable and yet very predictable, if you get what I'm saying. Hell, Honchkrow was a check to Venusaur but in reality PowerWhip/ SludgeBomb + SR quickly takes down Honch. SuckerPunch is a blessing and a curse. Being that it is likely your only Dark-move and source of priority you will often get caught with your pants down on a mis-prediction and a Substitute/ Encore will nail you. Raikou is in the tier to stay and he was a good check to.

I think the reason why Moltres is quite possibly the best toxicstaller in the game is his access to a strong STAB attack (Flamethrower/Fire Blast) that hits everything immune to Toxic (read: steels) SE. Bar Empoleon, of course...

I'm gonna go ahead and build a team, I'll bet the ladder is gonna be filled with rain teams just to prove a point this test...

Poison types are immune to Toxic as well, but Flamethrower hits them all reasonably hard anyway (The only one resistant is Qwilfish, who doesn't have the best Special Defense around).

What I find funny about that is that Honchkrow stops that bitch cold 100% of the time.

Anyway, Honch didn't need 5 moveslots, it was perfectly capable of tearing through UU with four, enough to make every eligible voter want it banned. Anything that could take a STAB 125 base attack Brave Bird to the face and live to tell about it wasn't laughing for long with Sucker Punch, Superpower, or another Brave Bird looming around the corner.

Did anyone else notice how 6 out of final 8 in the tour today had a Cresselia on their team? and why on earth was Cress allowed in the tour?could somone give me link or something explaining why

Hi everyone, I wanted to affirm the rules for how UU will be played this weekend. The ban list that can be found on the Shoddy Battle server is the effective tier list. Recent changes to the UU metagame have not yet been implemented, and I've asked Doug and Colin to hold off on making those changes until after this weekend. Originally, the effort was being made to get all the votes counted and the changes implemented early enough for people to have a day or two to ladder before the tour... but some technical upgrades to Smogon have prevented the updates from being made in a timely fashion. As such, we are going to go with what we have. Good luck, everyone.

Hm, when the ladder gets updated (Cress and Pory-Z get banned), would our UU ladder ratings get reset again??

Only our deviations are reset IIRC.

@God Bless Atheism: Did you play the metagame with brave Bird Honchkrow? Everyone who qualified thought that it was BL. It only really needed 3 slots to kill the whole metagame, leaving the fourth one open for Roost or HP Grass or Pursuit.

LO Jolly Venusaur Power Whip vs 4Hp Honch: 45.9% - 54.4% after SR 70.9% - 79.4
LO Timid Venusaur Sludge Bomb vs Honch: 78.4% - 92.4% after SR OHKO
LO Timid Venusaur Leaf Storm vs Honch: 60.8% - 71.9% after SR 85.8 - 96.9
Specs Modest Venusaur Leaf Storm vs Honch: 60.8% - 71.9% after SR 2HKO

Venusaur OHKO's and easy 2HKO's Honchkrow HAS to SuckerPunch (barring scarf) in order to win. Which goes back to my previous comment on how Honchkrow is (has to be) a very linear attacker. Also, those Calcs don't include Honchkrow's probable LO recoil either.

LO Adamant Honchkrow SuckerPunch vs Offensive Venusaur: 70.1% - 82.7%; Chance of 1HKO after SR and LO Damage.

Yes, of course I've played that meta and if you did, you would remember that people were very reluctant to switch their Honchkrow into Venusaur.

I almost never switched Honch directly into Venusaur, and you didn't need to when so many other Pokemon could wall it with ease. I never understood why people would risk so many easy wins by being even more reckless with Honchkrow than they needed to be. Because of this I rarely even bothered with Insomnia, opting for Super Luck instead to make it even more dangerous, able to bash through Intimidaters on the switch and break Cursers like Umbreon and Registeel with greater regularity.

Honchkrow didn't have to be a linear attacker, but you would have to be an idiot to deviate from that linearity, given that it only needed that one set to dominate the metagame.

Didn't want to bump by RMT.

Do you guys think I should run Rapid spin on Technitop? I mean SE is fine an all but I haven't found it to be THAT useful. (Lucky Moltres Switch ins though)

I find Technitop is infinitely more useful then regular top so I'm not switching sets.

But I digress, Stone edge or Rapid spin?

Are you using/relying on Moltres/Swellow? Then Rapid spin can obviously be worth it.

Stone edge isn't very usefull since Moltres outspeeds anyways.
