Cobalt Thunder!! Presents: An OU RMT

Hello everyone! I'm Cobalt Thunder!!, a returning player who has been
playing since the beginning etc. I've been looking for a team for quite
a while that isn't exactly unique, but doesn't use many of the common
sweepers, such as Scizor and Salamance. Eventually, I settled on the team
I've decided to show today. It does contain Gyarados, which is a common
sweeper, but he seems to do very well and makes a good counter/wall.

I'm still thinking of a name for the team. Regardless, have fun!

The Team:

I started by choosing my lead. My two favorite leads are Aerodactyl and
Machamp (Anti-Lead), but I decided that I needed Stealth Rock for sweeps,
so I went with Aerodactyl.

Next, I decided to pick my sweepers. My first intent was a dragon not named
Salamance...and so I decided on Flygon. His typing and STAB Earthquake
convinced me to nominate him as my Dragon Sweeper.

Third, I picked up a new idea. I really liked the idea of Empoleon being a
Substituting Agility Petaya Sweeper, but I didn't want to use Empoleon. So,
I looked around and found out that Zapdos could do the same thing. I do,
however, wonder if I should switch to Leftovers instead...

Fourth, I noticed that I needed a tank. I decided on Bronzong because of
his bulk, but decided to be mean and give him Macho Brace with Trick. The
concept makes his Gyro Ball insane along side the fact that he can cut
anyone's speed in half.

Afterwards, I continued choosing my sweepers. I settled with Gyarados
because he was a bulky water that could take down walls. He seemed to fit
very well with the team, so I included him, even though he is technically
a common sweeper...

Finally, I decided that I wanted something different. I like using pokemon
people normally don't use in certain tiers (i.e. I like using UUs in OU).
I saw an idea using Hitmontop as a Revenge Killer with all priority moves.
I loved the idea and decided to test it. It tested very well! Unforutnately,
I don't have Rapid Spin on Hitmontop and would love for it to be there.

The Team In-Depth

142.png

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly (+Spe, -SpA)
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Aerodactyl is my Suicide Stealth Rock Lead. He does an amazing job at
setting up both Taunt and Stealth Rock and is capable of revenge killing
many pokemon weak to Ground or Rock. His main goal is to either Taunt or
Stealth Rock first turn (depending on the opposing lead) and either do the
other, switch out, or attack. I personally don't find it too important to
keep him alive (especially compared to the rest of my team) but he does do
well on his own.

330.png

Flygon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 Atk / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Nature: Rash (+SpA, -SpD)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Roost

Flygon is a pretty decent powerhouse. He's a Mixed Sweeper, mainly based
off of Special Attack, that can take down many opponenets with Draco Meteor.
He's also one of my two Revenge Killers, able to take down many pokemon with
low Special Defense. Fire Blast covers Steel Types and Earthquake is a STAB
Physical move that can also take out various pokemon that may threaten
Flygon. Roost is meant to heal Life Orb and residual damage, but I don't
like it too much on here.

145.png

Zapdos @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 184 SpD / 76 Spe
Nature: Timid (-Atk, +Spe)
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute
- Agility
- Hidden Power Grass

This is Zapdos. He functions a lot like Empoleon, but I feel that he does
a better job overall. Substitute is very good and helps Zapdos sweep from
behind a very nice wall. I believe I messed up the EVs, but I'm not exactly
sure how to fix them to maximize his potential. He has done well, however.
Zapdos uses Hidden Power Grass for things like Swampert and Hippowdon. It
can also put a number on Tyranitar. Overall, he's one of my favorite
sweepers.

437.png

Bronzong @ Macho Brace
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Nature: Sassy (+SpD, -Spe)
- Gyro Ball
- Trick
- Earthquake
- Explosion

Ah...good ol' TrickZong. He hits like a truck and can make people move like
snails. He's my big, defensive wall of power that can take on many opponents
with ease. Earthquake gives him a weapon against Scizor and even Fire Types.
Gyro Ball, accomidated by the lack of Speed IVs and EVs, is a very dangerous
weapon that can hit hard on many pokemon. Trick gives Macho Brace to my
opponent, cutting the pokemon's Speed. Explosion is there to break walls
or end the game.

130.png

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

This Gyarados was made to break walls and eat other pokemon alive. It has
Dragon Dance, which makes it much faster and stronger than ever before.
Waterfall is a nice STAB move that can do some good damage to Levitating
Steel Pokemon that Earthquake cannot touch. Earthquake is meant for the
other Steel Pokemon while Stone Edge lays the pain on Flying Types. Overall,
Gyarados is one heck of a beast, but if anyone has any suggestions of a
Pokemon I could use over him (an actual suggestion, mind you), then I would
be glad to switch him out.

237.png

Hitmontop @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk / 4 Def
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Fake Out
- Sucker Punch
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Punch

Hitmontop is currently one of my favorite pokemon. He has 4 priority moves,
Sucker Punch being my favorite, high attack power, and the ability to Fake
Out + Revenge Kill many pokemon. Unfortunately, I cannot find room for
Close Combat or Rapid Spin, so help would be appriciated. Hitmontop's main
goal is to come in on a weak attack, Fake Out, then use one of his three
punches to take the opponent out. Because they all have priority, there is
no need for Speed EVs. Overall, Hitmontop is one of the craziest Revenge
Killers I've ever used.

Thank you all for reading my RMT. If you have any questions, please ask.
I'll do my best to answer.

I don't think Aero benefits this team much. Only stealth rock. I don't really agree with that lead because I don't your team NEEDS stealthrock.

Flygon is great but I recommend something like a scarf set. With no wish support or any recovery for Bronzong he will not be lasting long and Gyarados can make hell for your team. Asumming Zapdos does not have Sub first. A DD/Waterfall/stone edge/taunt or icefang can destroy your team.

Zapdos-Same functions as Empoleon just be cautionous of SR and weather hazards. This is why Empoleon is much more prefered for this job as stealth rock doesn't do as much and sandstorm does not damage it.

Bronzong-Nothing but no recovery could mean its walling abilitys will stop faster.

Gyarados-I recommend you try SubDD. Same spread or you can find a bulkier one to take hits. Dragon Dance/Waterfall/Stone edge/Subsuitute. You can now block status and vaperon cannot not take 2 stone edges from this thing so I recommend it.

Hitmontop-Great for killing Tyranitar,Latias,Starmie which opens your sweeping. Stays.

I hope this helped :D Good luck.

Thanks for the help! I'm going to replace Dos with Empoleon, change Gyara, and maybe change Zong to another tank. Also, I'll test some Flygons out.

If I take out Aero, what should I use in his place?

try a Roserade as it gives Empoleon Toxic Spikes which Empoleon really wants.
A stardard SR could be used instead though such as Metagross or something.

Personally, I recommend a standard Celebi lead.

Celebitch (Celebi) @ Occa Berry
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 76 HP/180 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Leaf Storm
- Earth Power

It defeats a lot of common leads. Azelf and Aerodactly either get Stealth Rock off or Taunt you useless as you U-Turn to Hitmontop and priority them to death. You can Rock up against Swampert freely and Leaf Storm if it stays in. Against Metagross, Earth Power, and if it Rocks, Rock up yourself. Jirachis are Rocked against, and if you got Scarf tricked on to it you now have a second revenge killer. Infernape beats you. Heatran is Earth Powered, you outspeed and kill thanks to Occa Berry. Loses to Infernape, Roserade and Ambipom(lol) leads.

I think it's a good idea because it's not entirely a suicide lead. Celebi has a plethora of useful resistances, like to fighting and ground, and has a strong Leaf Storm to kill things. Leaf Storm is also useful for scaring or killing things like Swampert and Hippo and such, which can annoy you hard. It also puts a big number on Tyranitar and U-Turn can function as a mini-scouter. You can also try the previously suggested Roserade lead, both are nice.

Aside from that, it looks good I guess, although as previously mentioned IDK about Life Orb Flygon. But you're messing with that anyway, So Yeah.

If you're changing Zapdos for Empoleon, you might want to try a mixed Dragonite over Flygon. You can use a spread of 112 ATK/196 Special Attack/200 Speed, but I prefer the 56 Attack/252 Special Attack/200 Speed version. A moveset of Superpower/Flamethrower/Draco Meteor/Roost with a Life Orb gives you the coverage of Flygon, but with more power, while retaining the earthquake immunity. 25% from Stealth Rock hurts though, but with Empoleon taking the place of a rock weak it should be managable. I recommend Rash over Mild because I find Dragonite is a safer switch-in to physical attacks. That's just my two cents, though.

Roserade should have focus Sash which pretty much assures you of 1 layer of T-Spikes. You also have sleep powder to sleep a lead and T-spike on the switch.

I think I'll try Dragonite...he sounds sexy. Also, now I can't decide between Roserade and Celebi...both sound really good. I just tried Roserade and T-Spikes did win me a couple of games...guess I'll try Celebi now.

I changed Dos to Leon and changed my Flygon to Scarf, which doesn't matter cause I'm going to try D-Nite. I also took out Gyarados for Vaporeon for Wish Support. I hope that's an okay move.

If you do choose Celebi then I would drop Empoleon as he really needs Toxic spikes so that bulky water pokemon can be worn down.

Vaporeon's a very good tank.

It's moveset probably changes based on your starter. If you use Roserade, use Surf/Protect/Wish and either Hidden Power Electric(Gyarados) or Ice Beam(Dragons). If you use Celebi, then Toxic is a better fourth choice, weakening a lot of things for MixNite to hit hard and for Hitmontop to revenge kill. Also still beats most Gyarados, save TauntDos.

So I tested this team:
Celebi
Empoleon
Dragonite
Bronzong
Vaporeon
Hitmontop

I came to the realization that 3 of my pokemon get rocked by Electric attacks. Also, I have problems covering Grass and Fighting.
I'm considering dropping Empoleon and possibly either Vaporeon or Bronzong...

Well, you could try a standard LO offensive set on Zapdos with Roost or drop it for a Jolteon or E-Vire to help your electric weakness (though I personally think it is not too bad if flygon is there)

Next I would drop Brozong for another steel type such as Jirachi or Metagross as they are better offensive options for an offensive team.

I would also prefer a scarf Latias or even scarf T-tar over Hitmontop as they revenge kill better.

Also you could drop Aero for a sturdier lead such as Gliscor (which gives you an electric immune pokemon)
