Hello everyone! I'm Cobalt Thunder!!, a returning player who has been
playing since the beginning etc. I've been looking for a team for quite
a while that isn't exactly unique, but doesn't use many of the common
sweepers, such as Scizor and Salamance. Eventually, I settled on the team
I've decided to show today. It does contain Gyarados, which is a common
sweeper, but he seems to do very well and makes a good counter/wall.
I'm still thinking of a name for the team. Regardless, have fun!
The Team:
I started by choosing my lead. My two favorite leads are Aerodactyl and
Machamp (Anti-Lead), but I decided that I needed Stealth Rock for sweeps,
so I went with Aerodactyl.
Next, I decided to pick my sweepers. My first intent was a dragon not named
Salamance...and so I decided on Flygon. His typing and STAB Earthquake
convinced me to nominate him as my Dragon Sweeper.
Third, I picked up a new idea. I really liked the idea of Empoleon being a
Substituting Agility Petaya Sweeper, but I didn't want to use Empoleon. So,
I looked around and found out that Zapdos could do the same thing. I do,
however, wonder if I should switch to Leftovers instead...
Fourth, I noticed that I needed a tank. I decided on Bronzong because of
his bulk, but decided to be mean and give him Macho Brace with Trick. The
concept makes his Gyro Ball insane along side the fact that he can cut
anyone's speed in half.
Afterwards, I continued choosing my sweepers. I settled with Gyarados
because he was a bulky water that could take down walls. He seemed to fit
very well with the team, so I included him, even though he is technically
a common sweeper...
Finally, I decided that I wanted something different. I like using pokemon
people normally don't use in certain tiers (i.e. I like using UUs in OU).
I saw an idea using Hitmontop as a Revenge Killer with all priority moves.
I loved the idea and decided to test it. It tested very well! Unforutnately,
I don't have Rapid Spin on Hitmontop and would love for it to be there.

The Team In-Depth

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly (+Spe, -SpA)
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
Aerodactyl is my Suicide Stealth Rock Lead. He does an amazing job at
setting up both Taunt and Stealth Rock and is capable of revenge killing
many pokemon weak to Ground or Rock. His main goal is to either Taunt or
Stealth Rock first turn (depending on the opposing lead) and either do the
other, switch out, or attack. I personally don't find it too important to
keep him alive (especially compared to the rest of my team) but he does do
well on his own.

Flygon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 Atk / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Nature: Rash (+SpA, -SpD)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Roost
Flygon is a pretty decent powerhouse. He's a Mixed Sweeper, mainly based
off of Special Attack, that can take down many opponenets with Draco Meteor.
He's also one of my two Revenge Killers, able to take down many pokemon with
low Special Defense. Fire Blast covers Steel Types and Earthquake is a STAB
Physical move that can also take out various pokemon that may threaten
Flygon. Roost is meant to heal Life Orb and residual damage, but I don't
like it too much on here.

Zapdos @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 184 SpD / 76 Spe
Nature: Timid (-Atk, +Spe)
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute
- Agility
- Hidden Power Grass
This is Zapdos. He functions a lot like Empoleon, but I feel that he does
a better job overall. Substitute is very good and helps Zapdos sweep from
behind a very nice wall. I believe I messed up the EVs, but I'm not exactly
sure how to fix them to maximize his potential. He has done well, however.
Zapdos uses Hidden Power Grass for things like Swampert and Hippowdon. It
can also put a number on Tyranitar. Overall, he's one of my favorite
sweepers.

Bronzong @ Macho Brace
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Nature: Sassy (+SpD, -Spe)
- Gyro Ball
- Trick
- Earthquake
- Explosion
Ah...good ol' TrickZong. He hits like a truck and can make people move like
snails. He's my big, defensive wall of power that can take on many opponents
with ease. Earthquake gives him a weapon against Scizor and even Fire Types.
Gyro Ball, accomidated by the lack of Speed IVs and EVs, is a very dangerous
weapon that can hit hard on many pokemon. Trick gives Macho Brace to my
opponent, cutting the pokemon's Speed. Explosion is there to break walls
or end the game.

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
This Gyarados was made to break walls and eat other pokemon alive. It has
Dragon Dance, which makes it much faster and stronger than ever before.
Waterfall is a nice STAB move that can do some good damage to Levitating
Steel Pokemon that Earthquake cannot touch. Earthquake is meant for the
other Steel Pokemon while Stone Edge lays the pain on Flying Types. Overall,
Gyarados is one heck of a beast, but if anyone has any suggestions of a
Pokemon I could use over him (an actual suggestion, mind you), then I would
be glad to switch him out.

Hitmontop @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk / 4 Def
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Fake Out
- Sucker Punch
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Punch
Hitmontop is currently one of my favorite pokemon. He has 4 priority moves,
Sucker Punch being my favorite, high attack power, and the ability to Fake
Out + Revenge Kill many pokemon. Unfortunately, I cannot find room for
Close Combat or Rapid Spin, so help would be appriciated. Hitmontop's main
goal is to come in on a weak attack, Fake Out, then use one of his three
punches to take the opponent out. Because they all have priority, there is
no need for Speed EVs. Overall, Hitmontop is one of the craziest Revenge
Killers I've ever used.
Thank you all for reading my RMT. If you have any questions, please ask.
I'll do my best to answer.
